All Browers have the following, In winning order for lowest memory footprint on load up.

 

Windows 8 Pro X64
Default Webpage =  about:blank (1 Tab only)

Plug-ins = flash, java, Silver light, quicktime.
Latest version(s).

Internet Explore 10

-2 processes of iexplore.exe on load

Total  memory 10.5mb

 

SeaMonkey 2.16

-1 processes of seamonkey.exe

Total memory 42.6MB

 

FireFox 19.0
-1 Processes of firefox.exe

Total Memory 69.6Mb

Google Chrome (1 Tab @ about:blank) I refuse to install Chome due to the fact its garbage and will load more the 2 prosscese on about:blank, My buddy's pc with chrome loaded a whopping 7 Prosscese of Chrome32.exe and chewed up 398MB of memory on a single blank page.

 

Opera (1 tab @ about:blank) I'm not sure if any one acutally uses this any more.

Other webbowers, All post must included a screen shot of there task manger in the (sorted by name)prosseces tab  (Windows xp/vista/7) or Details tab (windows 8) (sorted by name)

But you forget, Chrome has some pretty nifty features. It has great support for HTML 5 elements, it has cloud services with Google to keep your bookmarks across all your Chromes on all your devices. (Even Android Chrome) and often prevents other tabs from crashing if one does.

 

It is my standard browser to use.

 

And honestly, memory use is not a huge issue. A lot of that memory is page load. Which is meant to hold the render of your page and all things loaded. There are a bunch of background processes to keep recently closed tabs and your page surfing stack in memory.

 

There is a lot more to consider, Consider the offered features of each browser before you call them outright garbage. I would have called Firefox garbage after the 2007 64 Bit debacle it caused on my laptop.

Internet explorer is better than it used to be, but honestly, I still think of it as this stupid redneck cousin noone likes, but everyone has to acknowledge him, because he's family.

 

Personal choice: Chrome. Objectively, it's a lot of things, but definitely not garbage. As mentioned above + it's simply the best thing you can get if you are using a lot of Google related services and more than one computer (or other device) since it's basically effortless to have the same settings, bookmarks, etc everywhere without any transferring and in real-time. Also like the simple, but effective design. And a good bonus, it's extremely stable, I'm honestly not sure if I ever got a crash or lost some work or tabs with Chrome.

come on you chrome users post ya taks manager with chrome running then... ya yes it is all about memory foot print here.

 

als oI happen to know installing chrome will also install 1 or 2 windows Services as well. it reall is bloat were, and I seen it  lock up soo many windows pc its not even funny any more.
