Twilight, Spike, and fannon

I was browsing EQD the other day when I came across a link to this.  A lot of the commentators on this comic said that this should have been the ending of Spike At Your Service.  I love comics that express the love and affection Twilight and Spike have for each other.  I thought one of the sweetest scenes from the show was from Owl's Well That Ends Wel, just after Twilight rescues Spike from an angry dragon.  But, much as I like this strip and similar ones that I have seen, it would not have worked as an ending to Spike At Your Service; it would have come across as heavy handed in the episode.

What do you guys think? :)

Am I the only one that answered?

Oh well.

Ya I saw the comic and honestly it would have been a better ending, but it wouldn't have fit as well.

What do I mean?

What I mean is that this particular ending would work better in another type of story, not the "Spike at your Serivce" plot.

Though I do see as to what you mean that it can come out as too heavy for the show. However we did see Spike's reaction in the "Crystal Empire" episoded when he saw his greatest fear.So a moment like this may or may not occur.

The comic as presented is a bit heavy to be substituted as the ending of the episode, but the *idea* is a good one and if ramped down a bit I could see it being a better ending.

But then, the entire episode is a bit off in my opinion, as it made Spike incompetent rather than inexperienced, and I have a personal pet peeve about that kind of thing. So my feeling about the ending substitution may be irrelevant.

The idea is a very good one,no doubt, but the author's execution is a bit too melodramatic for my tastes.Perhaps if it had a more warm-hearted feeling to it and had absolutely no tears, that would be the perfect alternate ending in my opinion.A simple moment of a son being grateful and thankful for his mother.
