WhiteLightning 339 March 14, 2013 Share March 14, 2013 Yes, I know this does seem more suited for a status update. But allow me to elaborate. So, the 30th of March I will be in London for one day only (more specifically, from 9 AM to 7 PM) since school is organizing a day trip to it. Thing is, as I was thinking about what to do and what not to do there, since I have only limited time to run around there I ran into some things to which the answer seems harder to find than you think it will. 1. Except for monuments and places such as Buckingham Palace, Big Ben etc. are there any noteworthy or fun places that aren't advertised in travel brochures? This also includes awesome shops which sell merchandise of all kinds of games, comics, cartoons etc. 2. Is it best to order pounds at my bank beforehand and pay with those, is it best to find an ATM and grab some money there, or should I just pay with my debit card? It's a Maestro card btw, if you are wondering. So yeah, that's about it, so I hope any of you are from London or maybe have been there so you can give me some tips or suggestions. Planty 1,053 March 14, 2013 Share March 14, 2013 Defo get money before you get there, a lot of ATMs will charge you to take money out so take it with you. I don't really know about where to get cartoon stuff, if you want games Hamleys is alway fun to go and see. Also a tour of the Houses of Parliament is very interesting. You can make a good day in Greenwich as is got the Royal Naval College, maritime museum ,a planetarium. The Cutty Sark, so you can learn a lot about the history of London, especially as a Port. Also its situated along the Thames so if you want then you can get a boat up the Thames and it will drop you right by the London Eye and from there you can get to most places - Waterloo station, Westminster Abbey, Houses of Parliament, Covent Garden etc. Have ANY questions about Christianity? Apocalyptic_Unicorn 240 March 14, 2013 Share March 14, 2013 London's a big place, so you can't really experience it all in just one day. However, be sure to check out the HUGE Forbidden Planet on Shaftsbury Avenue Plus, if you're into comics and music, take a stroll down Camden, its an awesome area I think it would be best to order pounds from your bank, its good to have money with you as soon as you're there. Despite living near there I actually don't know much about London so your guess of where to go is as good as mine OP xD Edited March 14, 2013 by Crazy Misty siggy by PixiGlow
~Chaotic Parsley~ 240 March 14, 2013 Share March 14, 2013 Ye you are going to need a lot of moneys for London. I recommend Namco. It's an amusement arcade down the embankment from the London Eye. Also heading down Oxford street and stuff can catch you some amazing stores. Not just for shopping but looking inside as well. y Check out our YouTube Page Come say Hi or find more details Harmony's Evolution - Author Fractured Loyalties - Co-Writer and Editor Spiritual Renewal - Co-Writer and Editor To any and all aspiring Fan Fiction writers: If you are interested in co-writing a Fic with me - Message Me Fan of the upcoming movie: Equestria Girls. Oxford street was already something that had popped up in my head, but I didn't know about Namco. And it's near the London Eye, where the bus that will take me to London (and from) stops, so.. Yeah Namco is a three storey amusement arcade across the embankment from parliament (can't miss it). When you are at the London Eye just head west? You should see a McDonalds inside. 1 y Check out our YouTube Page Come say Hi or find more details Harmony's Evolution - Author Fractured Loyalties - Co-Writer and Editor Spiritual Renewal - Co-Writer and Editor To any and all aspiring Fan Fiction writers: If you are interested in co-writing a Fic with me - Message Me Fan of the upcoming movie: Equestria Girls.
