Well, i just got my Bamboo Capture tablet. And i'm pretty impressed with it. *except for the software*

If you want a good program i'd recommend PaintTool SAI.

The only way you can get the English version of SAI is getting the cracked version.

Just look up YouTube videos about it, and i'm sure they will supply you with a link to the cracked version.

If you want to pay for it, you will only be able to get the Japanese version.

If i could, i would buy it. But i cant read Japanese. So its their loss.

Good luck drawing! /)

Well there is GIMP. It's basically used for art purposes, banner/ wallpaper making, and add effects to a picture. Plus, It is free :3

Then there is Photoshop Cs6. It kinda the same as GIMP but better. It's more of a drawing/art program and it has more options for when your drawing. Photoshop has a free trial for about a month or so then you will have the choice to buy or not. Not sure how much it cost.

Either of these are good programs you could use for your art you will do in the future :3

Hey! congrats on the new computer. And the tablet! Bamboo is great.

I really Like Photoshop CS6. But thats a pricy piece of software.

I have tinkered around with Manga Studio. And I have some artists that really love it. it's for comics, but if you're drawing it should work well.

Cheak it out. I think a license is only  around fifty bucks.

yea the manga studio looks pretty good and amazon keeps throughing it in my face to buy lol

Truly honestly? I'd recommend PaintTool SAI all the way. I see someone else already has and that you're considering it but seriously- depending on the type of work you're wanting to get into, I'd just get it. I'll let you know immediately that it's very straightforward- no filters included or anything that I'm aware of with my version- just the tools. So I'd suggest getting a sister program if you ever want to add anything special to your work in the future- GIMP is almost exactly like Photoshop, so-?

There's some very simple layer settings you can use, but they aren't like the artsy photo-editing ones that come with photo editors.

Nice tablet, I have a Bamboo as well. I would actually recommend Open Canvas. It's Japanese, yes, but they provide a translated version that is official. It's free for 30 days, so you can try it out before buying it. (or find it on a Torrent site, but who would do such a thing?). It works perfectly with the tablet, it really understands the pressure sensitivity which I know other programs are supposed to get as well, but they never seem to work right for me.

If you do decide to purchase it the price is in Yen so it changes as the Yen changes. It can range between $50-$65. So you can just use Google's money converter to see when the Yen is low... Or just delete the registry key and restart the free trial, but again, who would do such a thing? *innocent whistle*.

Anyway, looking forward to seeing what awesomeness you create!

Photoshop CS- anything would be my highest recommended art program. It's one of the most advanced tool savvy programs I know, and you can really create something amazing with. It does take time to get used to it, however, and you may have some difficulty with the pen settings at first.

Paint Tool Sai is another really great program as well, and a good picture starter. It's a little more pen natural than Photoshop, but you can also convert your drawing to Photoshop, and make your drawing amazing that way also. But just remember though, even if there's a Mac version for Sai, it does not have pen pressure. That's a key tool to making your lines natural and clean. Believe me, I have Sai and a Macbook Pro.
