  2. Apologies on lack of updates; started school again and I've been worn out from the first few days; I'll get back to everyone asap!

  3. Going swimming! Breath of fresh air to have all my commissioners updated before going!

  4. Hot topic as a ton of more 'subtle' merchandise, honestly! You can get little headphone plug-ins for things like your cellphone or iPod, etc. Or they have iPod/iPhone cases more recently! Tons of necklaces (including a Spike one) and nice rubber bracelets (though they run at like, seven bucks a piece) Not sure how full out you want to go on this, but Hot Topic has a sale on their hooded backpacks (see my notes on it), and they have a really nicely made Derpy one. It's very subtle and unless someone else watched the show, it's doubtful people would see it and go: Haha you watch My Little Pony. Here's a link to it: http://www.hottopic.com/hottopic/PopCulture/TV/MyLittlePony/My+Little+Pony+Derpy+Hooded+Backpack-631584.jsp (Hood can be hidden in a nice little pouch inside the backpack that is open/closed with a zipper- it's not obvious whatsoever) Also, while the model is a woman, it doesn't look feminine by default. I bought mine recently and I think it is the absolute best thing I've ever bought, right next to my Fluttershy hoodie. The zippers have super cute muffin charms, and- just very nicely done, and subtle. Bowties, if they're your thing? They also have socks! Or maybe you could get some pins or cutie mark patches to stick on things for some flair! There's plenty if you search around!
  5. If you're still looking- I highly suggest checking Hot Topic for a backpack (or Spencers, I suppose!). I just recently got a hooded Derpy backpack (you can hide the hood in a pouch that's opened/closed with a zipper- it's hardly noticeable!), and even better- it's on sale for half off at the moment! It's just a basic grey backpack with pegasus wings attached, and her bubble cutiemark. I thought a super cute touch was that the zipper charms are muffins! I'm not a *huge* fan of Derpy (my profile image may suggest otherwise) but it was too cute to pass up! Here's an image for you: http://img.hottopic.com/is/image/HotTopic/631584_hi?wid=1360 As I also said, they have a Rainbow Dash variation that you can find on the site as well! While the models are female, I don't think the backpack looks feminine by default. Spencers has a backpack of similar design, but with Rainbow Dash printed on the back of it and I think the mane is composed of some cord-like material. Edit: As far as size goes on these, they're a nice size- probably 'default backpack' size; can fit notebooks and books comfortably.
  6. Oh gosh- I just went today to try and get some merch- seems like all the local bronies and smaller girls already picked through the MLP notebooks! ;; Sad because I missed out on the Rainbow Dash and group/Rarity notebooks! Haha ;; I'm a sucker for cute school supplies- I'll be so sad if our other surrounding Walmarts fail to carry them.
  7. Dealing with some art blockage; trying to work work through it.

  8. I'll toss in my word of opinion: I have a friend who owns this exact same necklace- I didn't think it looked too girly on him at all. If you like it, go for it! If it would make you happy owning it, there's no reason you shouldn't get it. c:
  9. I've taken up a liking to Octavia. I think she'd be a nice and elegant character to bring into the spotlight, even as just another minor role. Her design is beautiful and I imagine she'd have a calm, serious demeanor; it'd be nice to see what could be done with her on the show!
  10. I still have yet to decide on colors for my ponysona and it's been months since I created her..

  11. I just hope the same amount of time and consideration goes into each episode as it has in earlier ones. It's not that I didn't enjoy season 3, just that some of the episodes seemed to come out of nowhere and some were super rushed..I really wish they didn't have a time constraint of 22-ish minutes! I'm sure there's nothing horrible that could happen in the fourth season though, seeing as we have such a lovely and considerate team working on it! I trust the show in their hands.
  12. It seems a bit unfair to go around posting this. Haters are going to hate if that is what they choose to do, but it's wrong to persecute them because they go against an opinion of yours. He didn't exactly need to get all fussy because a character got ponified- there's absolutely nothing wrong with that at all. But try not to fuel these people in the future. They are just as entitled to their opinion as you are to yours. To address the main question though, yes, some bronies are actually very harsh. Practice what you preach; not many bronies do this, regardless of the message they claim they're trying to put out there.
  13. Eh, depends on what you're going to consider as 'having it better.' Plenty of younger bronies can have the same opportunities as older bronies. If I asked my mother if I could go to a con if I paid my way, she wouldn't necessarily have reason to say no (and I have already mentioned it and she didn't have an issue with it). I earn all my money off of commissions and have for about two years now (more frequently now, however, since my talents have been stretched further), so it's not impossible to make money. You're also forgetting that older bronies still have to pay for other, more important things, such as food and costs of living where they do. So it's not necessarily as if they can do whatever they'd like to, tossing money around on pony merch. I'd almost say younger bronies have it easier. If your parents are understanding of your love of the show, you can ask for things as gifts (sometimes just to have- I'm getting school supplies with MLP characters on it) and my mother doesn't see issue with it. I understand that's saying a bit since I'm a girl, but I know plenty of bronies who are guys that have supporting parents who don't exactly care about the fandom their child is delving into. Every situation is different- age doesn't exactly mean too much about having anything 'easier' or 'better', I think.
  14. There is a stark difference between a talent and an ability. I'm sure plenty of people can sing, but that doesn't make it your true talent. I can sing a little bit myself, but my true talent would have to be with drawing. This concept applies to me on many things- I am capable of writing a story, but that doesn't make it my talent. Sweetie Belle seems to have extra potential with singing, thus making it quite the talent. Definition of 'Talent': Natural aptitude or skill.Definition of 'Ability': The capacity to do something.
  15. As others have already said, it's probably because the original Princesses are ethereal. I'm glad others share my thoughts on the matter; seeing as Celestia and Luna control entire celestial bodies, I think they're much much different from any other pony in their universe, or even alicorn. On top of that, I think they were born from magic (my own head canon) while Twilight and Cadence were granted their additional parts to become an alicorn: wings or a horn (depending on Cadence's origin story), so that might play in, too.
  16. I think some people are reading into the response we were given a little bit too much.. What is simply being said is that regardless of the fact that Twilight Sparkle is an alicorn, she is not immortal. She will die after living a 'normal' lifespan. Obviously not on screen, but she isn't going to outlive her friends in the sense of 'she's never going to die/she'll live for thousands of years.' I believe there's a difference between the lifespans of Princess Celestia and Princess Luna (they seem to be ethereal as compared to Princess Cadence and Twilight) and the other two mentioned princesses. I would personally say Cadence isn't immortal. I know I'm not any sort of authority to be answering your question as you were wishing, but there are stark differences between the manes of the original Princesses and Cadence and Twilight. Celestia and Luna were basically birthed by magic, or so would be my headcanon on the matter, as they control two celestial bodies. That sort of a big deal. However Cadence is really just a princess of love, and Twilight is a princess of magic, and I believe they were only granted their wings/horn (depending on Cadence's origin story) while the original Princesses were simply alicorns from the start. Just my thoughts!
  17. Hello! I hope you enjoy your stay on the forums! And what are you looking for a brony artist for? (: I'm one myself, but there are plenty of others that you can find as well in the respectable group! If you need help finding your way around, don't hesitate to ask someone- we're all pleased to see more faces on here!

    Hi

Welcome to the forums! I don't have as informational of a greeting as some of the people prior to me do (props to Jokuc), but I hope you enjoy your stay and have fun hanging out on the forums!
  19. Personally, no, I wouldn't do it. I'm a girl, so it's not that I'm worried about it being necessarily awkward, but I'd be afraid of it being boring for the other students there. Understandably, I know people do these presentations as a way of trying to explain and show that MLP is okay for men to be watching and judgement shouldn't be occurring, but you should take into consideration that some people don't exactly want to listen to it. It's just out of courtesy- there's definitely betters ways to try and explain the phenomenon to people- that's just my opinion though!
  20. And I absolutely agree with you. Nobody should be forced into anything they don't care for, regardless of if one thinks it's really amazing and that the person would definitely end up liking it. Nobody likes to be told to do anything, let alone be forced to. If someone wants to influence anyone, it doesn't hurt to casually wear a brony shirt or something when you're with them. Some people will look at the shirt and go 'hey that's cool..what is that?' as opposed to if you're up in their face, asking them to watch an episode, forcing them to open it on Youtube and view it. I absolutely hate/loathe the idea of converting anyone into really anything.
  21. Actually, I just helped out at a kindergarten and I would regularly go in, wearing my MLP shirts. I had plenty of boys compliment my shirt and say how they liked the ponies on them (varied from Rainbow Dash to Big Mac). And then one of the teachers commented on how their son (7-8 years old) watched MLP and enjoyed it very much.
  22. I really think they were plot device characters, honest to say. Though Prince Blueblood did make a cameo in another episode! ("Sweet and Elite") It'd be wonderful to see one of them come back as an antagonist again, or even just as another cameo appearance. Though I wouldn't bet on it- Trixie is a largely popularized character by the fandom, and I think that has a huge part in her reappearing in show and such.
  23. Haha, yes, yes- as most products are! I was just hoping it were a little bit higher-quality for it being $10 (most licensed ones are larger than this cup was and only run a couple dollars more expensive). It really was a beautiful cup- just a shame that it had to break and lead to this mess.. Hopefully a better alternative shows up. I'd be more than willing to pay more for something more durable!
  24. To make a long story short(er), my uncle and aunt bought me a cute MLP travel cup as a birthday gift, roughly four weeks ago. Looks like the below: It really is (was) a good cup- I was excited to use it. Washed it, let it dry out, and first time using it- the two walls snapped apart. Was just a super quick fix that would have only required super glue to solve. Never doing that in the future- made the problem worse. The glue dried on the inside walls and left an icky white, foggy-looking tint to it. I believe any return policies are now void because I attempted to fix the cup myself. I tried to get in contact with someone over on Amazon (where it was originally ordered) to see if it would even be worth trying to track down all this information. They said to help me further, they'd need me to. Just really bummed out. It's ridiculous to be this amount of upset over a plastic $10 cup, but it does bother me nonetheless. Here's to hoping the issue is resolved. Adorable cup, just having so many issues with it.
  25. Fluttershy! I may be a big biased, but- definitely the cutest in my opinion! ;P My friends would say otherwise, more likely than not, however.
