MyLittlePonyTales 273 April 13, 2013 Share April 13, 2013 Hey there. So I've noticed over the past couple of days that when I go to the Find Content on my Profile, not all the threads that I have posted in show up. Like, I'll look through my content and get through viewing new posts in threads, and then go to the View New Content button and see threads that I know I posted in, but that didn't show up with new replies in my content. Any idea what this might be happening? 2 "Reality is a lovely place, but I wouldn't want to live there."
King 5,625 April 13, 2013 Share April 13, 2013 (edited) I've never really encountered something like this before. I'm guessing you mean that your "My content" section isn't updating when someone makes a post on a thread that you have posted on before. If that's the case, then as I said, I've never really encountered this before. Im not sure if the latest site update would have anything to do with it, since it's also effecting Member Titles and such, but it's a possibility. I'm not a very technical person so Id say the best thing to do is to give it a little while, Key Gear is looking itno the Member TItle issue apparently so perhaps he may fix this aswell if it IS an issue with the update. Otherwise it may be good to talk to a Tech savvy admin like Key Gear or Feld0, if no one else is able to help fix this for you. [id agree with CloudFyre is the issue your facing is simply a misunderstanding of the Content Search Options] Edited April 13, 2013 by Dawn♥Rider 1 Goddamn right, you should be scared of me Twitter
CloudFyre 848 April 13, 2013 Share April 13, 2013 (edited) I think I can help clarify. (And I'm just going to do a total breakdown of the search options.)My Profile > Find Content lists all content that you as a poster have made, whether it be topics, or just posts in someone else's topic. My Profile > Find Content > Only Topics shows only topics that you've started. My Profile > Find Content > Only Posts shows the posts that you've made. You can also sort by content type (in the box above Only Posts/Only Topics, etc.).Now, what I assume you're looking at is in the top right hand corner, which is a big blue button that says View New Content. As you might already know, that does not show your content specifically; it shows all new content, even in threads that you haven't posted in. To specify new content only in threads that you've posted in, you have to click the button in the lower left that reads Items I Participated In. MyLittlePonyTales 273 April 13, 2013 Author Share April 13, 2013 My Profile > Find Content lists all content that you as a poster have made, whether it be topics, or just posts in someone else's topic. My Profile > Find Content > Only Topics shows only topics that you've started. My Profile > Find Content > Only Posts shows the posts that you've made. This is correct. I have been on forums before and understand all these options. However, I am viewing Topics and Posts, and see a bunch of topics there that I did not start. I'm just not seeing all the ones I've posted in, is the problem. [Now, what I assume you're looking at is in the top right hand corner, which is a big blue button that says View New Content. So, I go to view My Content, right? And I look at a bunch of topics, then refresh the page to see if there's anything new. When there stops being anything new, I go to View New Content or the "big blue button." And then I look through that stuff, and I've seen a topic posted in a few minutes ago that I KNOW I posted in, but didn't show up in My Content. And yes, I did check to be sure I made a post in that topic. Gah, I couldn't finish my last post. I was going to hit "Reply to quoted post(s)" and unconsciously hit "Post" instead. (I assumed you knew what you were doing, but I wanted to post that as a general "catch all" for anyone who finds their way here.) I guess it doesn't matter anyways, since I misunderstood what you were talking about. At this point, I just don't know. (Unless you're hitting the back arrow or something and going back to an old, unrefreshed page, I really can't figure out what it would be.) Are you accidently filtering by content type or something? Threads instead of all posts?

It could be something wrong with the system itself, in which case we would be unable to help you. As I mentioned, if this problem persists perhaps it could be best to notify a Tech admin such as Key Gear as they would be the only people capable of actually fixing this IF it's a problem with the IP Board. Otherwise it could simply be a small system lag, it may take more time for Your content to update then for the sites new content to update. 1 Goddamn right, you should be scared of me Twitter
MyLittlePonyTales 273 April 13, 2013 Author Share April 13, 2013 Are you accidently filtering by content type or something? Threads instead of all posts? Not on purpose, have not touched the settings. I don't know, maybe I'm just being a derp face. And no, I'm doing the full refresh of the page, not backspace. 1 "Reality is a lovely place, but I wouldn't want to live there." King 5,625 April 13, 2013 Share April 13, 2013 Not on purpose, have not touched the settings. I don't know, maybe I'm just being a derp face. And no, I'm doing the full refresh of the page, not backspace. It's possible it's a Derp moment. But if other's experience this issue, then it's most likely a problem with the Board, If not it must be on your end. It doesn't seem like a major problem, so it's probably best to wait it out, then if others experience the issue, then it would probably be something with the board and one of the Tech Admins would probably take a little time to investigate it. 1 Goddamn right, you should be scared of me Twitter
Kyoshi Frost Wolf 41,499 April 13, 2013 Share April 13, 2013 I was having this problem as well. My sig request thread was gone from my content, I had to go through my profile to get to it without going to the forum itself. It seems to be working fine now so I have no idea what caused it or fixed it. :|
MyLittlePonyTales 273 April 13, 2013 Author Share April 13, 2013 It's possible it's a Derp moment.Okay, figured out for sure that it's not. I was on last night, when the site was slower, and there were new posts in two or three threads that I was in that showed up in View New Content, but no matter how many times I refreshed My Content, they wouldn't immediately show up. 1 "Reality is a lovely place, but I wouldn't want to live there." Solution King 5,625 April 13, 2013 Solution Share April 13, 2013 Okay, figured out for sure that it's not. I was on last night, when the site was slower, and there were new posts in two or three threads that I was in that showed up in View New Content, but no matter how many times I refreshed My Content, they wouldn't immediately show up. Then it could be only two things, in my mind atleast... The first: Somethign happened with the latest IP Board Update that may have caused some issues with the "New Content" System, considering it seems to only be a newer issue rather then something encountered for a long while before it was bought up. The Second: Perhaps there is a time lag between your New content being updated with things you have posted into. Especially now that someone else has encountered this, then it isn't on your end. And I believe the only people who could give you a "proper" answer and fix the issue, when they have time, are the Tech Admins. 2 Goddamn right, you should be scared of me Twitter
Marcato 2,143 April 13, 2013 Share April 13, 2013 (edited) I'm lead to believe this is an issue with the new IP Board update that recently swung by... I personally am not experiencing the issue, but either way I would recommend clearing your cache and cookies just to be sure. On google chrome, go into advanced settings and chose "clear browsing data..." and select "Empty the cache" and "Delete cookies and other site and plug-in data." (I doubt this will solve the problem, but it's always worth a shot!) If that doesn't work it could be what @ said earlier. Otherwise it could simply be a small system lag, it may take more time for Your content to update then for the sites new content to update. If others are experiencing it, this is a problem beyond our scope of solving and would likely belong better in a support ticket where someone like Key Gear or Feld0 can fix it behind the scenes. IP Board updates tend to mess some things up, so there's a good chance this could be your problem. EDIT: Oh Dawn you ninja... Edited April 13, 2013 by Silver Marcato 2 ~Relax and enJOY life. So yeah, covered that base too. I don't really mind, since they should show up eventually, just a little annoying. And getting updates to threads that I'm following in my Notifications? Too ridiculous to think about! Thanks for the help anyway guys. 1 "Reality is a lovely place, but I wouldn't want to live there."

Marcato 2,143 April 13, 2013 Share April 13, 2013 Seeing as the issue appears to be resolved, I'm going to go ahead and lock this thread up. If anyone else is still experiencing the issue, please contact us or the Tech Admins. 1 ~Relax and enJOY life.
