What are your ten favorite things about the fandom?

Everyone has their own reasons for getting involved in the mlp fandom, as well as unique reasons for being attracted to mlp:fim.

 

Tell me your top ten favorite things about the fandom!

10) everyone is open about their feelings

9) bronies try not to be judgemental

8) all of the mlp fanfics!

7) mlp fan art!

6) all of the talented bronies

5) the better-than-Hasbro fan-made merch

4) the creator/fan feedback loop

3) pony OCs!

2) everything ponified!

1) love and tolerance

I honestly don't know if I can come up with 10...Lets see...

 

1: I like the art produced from the community

2: I like SOME of the music produced.

3: I like the videos, some of them are either really funny, or pretty sad. (Mostly parody videos and not stuff like the .MOV series or double rainboom.)

4:Some of the cosplay people do is cool.

 

That is where my line ends. Sadly, the mlp fandom is at the point where it is basically the same as every other one, just a different subject. These are the exact reasons I have for any fandom I include myself into (Such as Anime/manga). I just like forums, and communities where I can discuss my interests with people who share them.

 

In terms of why I like the show; It's cute, touching and funny.

Lets see:

1) The closeness/emotionality/soul of the community. For those who think it's gone...it's not. You just need to know where to look.

2) All of the talented artists, musicians, writers, etc.

3) The interesting figures you meet on here and other places.

4) The interestings OCs people make.

5) All the charities and fundraising.

6) Tumblrs. Nuff said.

7) The amazing fan works of all kinds.

8) There is a lot of interesting fanon, some I like, some I don't like. All really cool, though.

9) The way background ponies are stars just like the Mane 6.

10) How close the fans and the producers are.

1: The sense of community - It amazes me to this day how close many of us are to each other, in some cases a second family even.

2: The Art - whether it be Visual Art, Video's,Music or Fan Fiction, the work produced by our community is freakin fantastic in my eyes

3: The Concerts/Conventions - These events truly bring us together as a community and are so much fun from what I've seen and heard.

4: The People - All the interesting people I've met after becoming a Brony has always fascinated me, just how a bunch of awesome peeps like us can come together like this :3

5: The New Sincerity - One of my biggest loves about our community is some of us truly take on the values shown in MLP and several one's that we ourselves have come up with...Male Bronies in particular and how we're usually expected to be emotionless piles of muscle, and how we ignore that for values of which are better for the world.

My ten favorite things about the fandom eh? Well then, I'd have to say it'd be the following in no particular order. Incoming wall!

I kinda ran out of juice as I jumped from point to point so some parts may seem short, sorry 'bout that 

 

 

 

10. The Creativity of the Fans - It's always going to be acknowledged for the fact that what the fandom chugs out for content is incredible. From illustrations to cosplay, there's a wide arrangement of goodies fans produce for one another on a daily basis. 

 

9. How we seem to Inspire One Another - Coupled with #10, it's incredible how some people stories become. From unknown illustrator or invisible music producer, to being fully recognized in a fandom of thousands (possibly millions) is incredibly inspiring for those who are just starting out in something for the first time. Many first timer artists, musicians, writers, etc. have been born due to this.

 

8. Invaluable Support To Eachother - Whether it's finding the will to start something new, to finding someone to talk to when we need it, there always seems to be someone out there willing to selflessly help those in need. Not to mention this is coupled with the Generosity of fans donating to charities to even one another by simply being there for one another. 

 

7. Forums and Movie Night - Forums are indeed one of the things I love about this fandom. I haven't properly joined one in years AND it's amazing to see how well many of them are moderated and cared for. In addition to this, things such as Movie Night or Mare~A~Thons are always a blast. Being able to relate to fellow fans on FiM is great, but to also spend time together watching movies and other things are icing on the cake! It helps us not only talk about something besides FiM (to prevent burnout) but it also strengthens the bonds we have for one another.

 

6. RolePlaying - What better way to stimulate the mind and your imagination than by RPing? Not only do you get to have fun being someone else, but one will also most likely learn how to describe things better, type better and even the expansion of vocabulary choices. This also has a strong link to Fanfic writing as well if you think about it

 

5. The People you Meet and the Friends you Make - Never have I met so many people who have been so open minded and accepting of others. In accordance with this, I've also made more than my share of friends through this fandom. 

 

4. /MLP/ on 4chan - I don't care what you guys say, It still surprises me that Moot decided to add this board and it's still one of the strongest sources of finding fresh concepts, ideas, leaked episodes and so fourth. It's also the strongest source of rubbish, but heck you know the saying "for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction."

 

3. The Show Itself - With how creative the producers and writers have been they have proven to me I have yet to see 'everything' that a usual series will give to their viewers. Besides, loves me that pastel wonderland which hasn't melted my eyes out of horrid color pallet choices. 

 

2. It Encouraged me to Start Drawing - This goes hand in hand with #8, but this is quite special to me. I was your typical guy with low self esteem who drew constantly as a little guy but stopped as time grew on. After viewing what others had produced in the early days of the fandom, coupled with the vast amount of support I received, my joy of drawing was rekindled. I now have my College Major in something that I thought I'd never be doing but am proud to be working towards.

 

1. The Ideology of the show - Even though it started as a shoddy attempt to annoy people, it still remains true to this day. Friendship is Magic and To Love and Tolerate not only others, but with yourself as well.

I don't know if I could come up with ten...

 

These aren't ranked in any particular order, by the way.

 

1) What I call the "creative spirit" in general.  While I'm not necessarily a *huge* fan of everything produced in the fandom (for instance, not really into Brony music- but I'm just not a musical guy in general) I do admire the creative energy behind it all.

 

2) Regarding creative things I do specifically like, I love brony videos and animation

 

3) Also brony fanart.

 

4) The fact that we don't really seem to cast a lot of judgment on others because of their interests.  Maybe because of what they say about people in glass houses...

 

5) The close, back and forth relationship the fandom has with the creators of the show.

 

6) The sense of belonging and community.

 

7) Bronies are responsible  for some of the more intelligent and thought out forum discussions i've been a part of. 

 

8) Getting a chance to talk with all of you nice folks!

Wow! I really wish more bronies had the same passionate optimism that you guys have. It makes me sad to see so many of them becoming jaded. It's peoples' upbeat and caring attitudes that make this the great community it is.
