If the Changelings return, there needs to be new Changelings with personalities.

Going through a lot of the fanart and fanfiction, I've come to think of a problem besetting the Changeling side of the fandom. The only Changeling with a character and personality is Chrysalis, the rest of the army are just Stormtrooper mooks, and therefore we only have so much to work off of. Now yeah, there are OCs, but a lot of them have a common trend (ie going to Ponyville to fit in, turning against Chrysalis, etc). What I'm thinking is, especially if the Changelings return, there needs to be other Changeling characters besides Chrysalis who have their own distinct personalities and character.

 

I mean, take for example, the Decepticons. Sure, we all love Megatron, who is menacing enough on his own. But if we didn't have other Decepticons like Starscream, Soundwave, Swindle, etc, and all the other Decepticons were just mooks with no identifiable personalities, we'd quickly get bored with them. It's those secondary villains we grow to love and love-to-hate, not just the big bad. Now sure, in the comics, we have those commander Changelings but of course, mostly due to the brevity, we didn't get a lot out of them other than the typical evil commanders.

 

This leads to my main point where we get creative: let's try and toss ideas around for Changeling character,s PRIMARILY Chrysalis' chief underlings, like her family, her generals, her second-in-command, etc. I'll start and give an example.

 

 

Prince Weevil

 

Position: Chrysalis' slimy younger brother. He is first-in-line to the Changeling throne and Chrysalis' second-in-command. 

Bio: Ambitious, self-absorbed and murderously jealous of his big sister his entire life, he has his eyes dead set on the throne and cannot make his treacherous goals more obvious, consistently undermining her authority and attempted to overthrow her leadership every single chance he gets. He served as regent/acting monarch of the Changeling homeland whilst Chrysalis was off on her crusade to conquer Equestria, only to further his lust for power, to the point he pretty much declared himself King then and there. He repeatedly refers to himself as "the future King of the Changeling", even in front of Chrysalis. He's straight-up the Starscream to Chrysalis' Megatron.

Powers: Shapeshifting, brilliant strategist and tactician, skilled silver tongue (fantastic liar).

Voice actor: Tom Kenny (in his Starscream voice).

 

So yeah, those highlighted parts are the basic requirements, but also, and this actually more of a semi-requirement, it really helps if the character is marketable, like you could transform it into a Hasbro toy, as well as somewhat realistic to the show like they really could appear if handled right. Yeah, I know that's pretty hard to measure what is marketable and realistic for the show, but I thought I might as well just add that in anyway.

Bio: One wish is to be a pony who fits in with a community. Multiple previous attempts to join a pony community under a disguise. Has always failed when duplicate arrives, or primal changeling instincts surface. Met (INSERT_PONY) and fell in love. Keeps trying to win her heart.

 

Powers: Shapeshifting, making friends.

Wasn't there a topic regarding a different perspective on Changeling? Anyway yeah I agree on that prospect but it's been overdone almost as much as Humans in Equestria plots.

 

I never made s Changeling OC before but here goes a quick character I thought of.

 

Name: Elusive

 

Position: Sentry

 

Bio: Young (CMC age) and ambitious Elusive likes to play pranks on other changelings. She's light hearted and fun loving but she doesn't know when enough is enough. Her trouble making pranks often get her punished but she doesn't mind the time outs.

 

Powers: Shape Shifting, Telekinesis.

I don't think that should be the case being that they can pretty much personify anyone they choose, having their own would impede them to act as the character they are disguising as.  Queen Chrysalis was able to keep her own since she is more sentient than her troops, and I believe that they are pretty much just foot soldiers that do her bidding as ants and bees do about their Queen.

What if that pony was rarity. That would be fun to watch, Tyro vs Spike. Lets just hope he doesnt become a door mat like spike. But yes, this should happen and we need to see more changelings in season 4. In case you havent noticed, im a bit addicted on changelings

There definitely has to be a Changeling voiced by Steven Jay Blum in the future, either using his "Orochimaru" voice (villain) or his "Spike Spiegel" voice (hero / Jerk With A Heart Of Gold).

 

P.S. - Ron Perlman would make a good Dragon or Griffon, too.

Yes, there was a topic on that, but this is mostly to do with Changelings who would appear as loyal underlings to Chrysalis, but with personalities and distinct character, not just being goons. Of course, other Changelings who are not allied to Chrysalis or just ordinary Changeling citizens can be shared here too.

 

There definitely has to be a Changeling voiced by Steven Jay Blum in the future, either using his "Orochimaru" voice (villain) or his "Spike Spiegel" voice (hero / Jerk With A Heart Of Gold).
