Agent Thunder sat in his office typing a report on his last mission. Suddenly there was a knock on his door. It was a delivery pony who had an urget message. "Agent Thunder, it's an important message from the Crystal Empire." He said. "Alright, what do we got?" He asked opening the files. As he read through the notes, something left him completely shocked. The Crystal Heart was missing! "Oh dear Celestia!" He said almost falling off of his chair. He said this kinda loud, which he got the attention of some other agents talking. He then got off his chair and sprinted to Agent Charisma's office. Agent Charisma was the agent in charge of creating the groups for missions. "Agent Charisma, I've got some very grim news." Agent Thunder said as he put the files and notes on Agent Charisma's desk. Agent Charisma examined the files. He then eyed Agent Thunder. "Well, this is a handful, we don't have any evidence, which means we don't know who stole the Crystal Heart. It's definately not King Sombra, for he was defeated several years ago." Agent Charisma said. "Wait a sec, but when the Crystal Heart defeated him, his horn was the only thing that stayed in tact. Shouldn't we search for his horn and destroy it, for it may still hold dark energy." Agent Thunder asked. "Negative, since the light engulfed him, this "purified" his body, so the horn is powerless." Agent Charisma explained.

 

After a talk with Agent Charisma, Agent Thunder headed over to Agent Moon's office to discuss the notes with him. "Agent Moon, sorry to disturb you, but I've got some terrible news. Take a look at these files and noes to find out." Agent Thunder said putting the files and notes on Agent Moon's desk.

Lord Inquisitor Moon Crypt sat back in his chair, watching miscellaneous videos. He closed the window and sighed, resigning his day to boredom once again.

 

Grand Inquisitor Karma had assigned him to a mere desk job- a DESK job!- to show his support for the new ESPA, which would, in the long term, provide relief for the Inquisition Offices. Which meant, until they got the minimum required members or the thing shut down, he was stuck here. Behind a desk. Playing solitaire. Because there was no way that anything  exiting would happen until then, right?

 

How wrong he was.

 

He looked up to see one of the higher agents entering his office, a expression of panic on his face. He sighed and opened the file, reading the notes, the report, and a special letter with an I stamped onto it. He took the letter out and put it onto the desk, determined to read it a bit later. Then his mind realized what he had just read.

 

The Crystal Heart. Missing.

 

He picked up the report again and read it over again. "Well then... There goes my day being boring, at any rate. After this talk, I fear that I will be unavailable for about an hour. Mr. Karma needs to know." He gave the report back to him, yet kept on his side the notes, looking at them closely. "What is your opinion about these?"

"Well, King Sombra was defeated several years ago. So he couldn't have stolen the Crystal Heart. So it has to be somepony who's using the Crystal Heart for a purpose other than protection, but what could that be. Unless it's to power something, but it can't be that obvious." Agent Thunder explained. "So, we'll have to investigate ourselves. We must travel to the Crystal Empire and get info from everypony we can talk too, including Princess Cadence and Prince Shining Armor. The problem is, is that Cadence now has do like she did when King Sombra was still living. She's gonna have to use her magic to keep the empire protected, but that means she'll be getting no sleep at all. To make matters worse, dark energy and an evil foe might enter the Crystal Empire to take it over, for the Crystal Heart is the ONLY means of protection. So, without further ado, let's head over to the mission departure room." Agent Thunder said waiting for Agent Moon to get up.

Moon stood up and stretched before taking out his stuff- his custom invisibility device, his linked communicator. He attached the invisibility devide to his belt, put on his cloak, then walked out with Agent Thunder. "What it seems is that... hm. It might be Sombra. It might not. There's a case for both ends." He smiled as he entered the mission departure room. "Also, the Crystal Heart can be used for a number of things. First off, it channels energy- turning any elemental energies into light energies. Second, it enhances light energy that passes through it. Third, it can also be used as a giant battery." He shrugged. "Well, here we go..."

"Battery..." Thunder Dash said to himself as he entered the departure room. There, the pony in charge of departures had the files and told them good luck. "Alight, here we go." Agent Thunder said. He then turned to Agent Moon. "Alright, I brought an extra communicator so we can keep in touch with Cadence and Shining Armor. I could also monitor Cadence's vital signs on it as well." Agent Thunder explained. Agent Thunder then spread his wings out. "Let's move out!" He said as he rose into the air headed straight for the Crystal Empire.

Moon Crypt took off right behind him. Heh. Five minutes ago he was sitting bored, and now...

 

Just then, his communicator went off. He pushed a button. "Yes?"

 

"Karma wants to know what you are doing out of Canterlot."

 

He sighed. "Well- tell Karma I'm in the middle of some very important buisness that involves the Crystal Heart. Oh, and see if he can run some energy tests in the area, can he?" He shut down the communicator, sighed and shook his head. "Why can't he mind his own darn business?"

Agent Thunder kept flying ahead of Agent Moon. He used his energy sensing spell to make sure there was no presence of dark energy around. Ahead of him, he saw the Crystal Castle. "There it is, the Crystal Castle." He said. He noticed it's color wasn't as bright as usual. "That's not good. The Castle's color is getting darker. That's a sign. We must hurry on this mission to find whoever did this before the castle is completely covered in darkness." Agent Thunder said as he began to descend.

He flew down, landing near the Crystal Castle. "Alright then. Let us divide and conquer. You investigate the site... I'll interview the Princess, Shining Armor, and anyone else that I might take a fancy to questioning." He nodded and patted his communicator. "Keep in touch." He winked and walked towards the castle.

Eventually, he was stopped at the Throne Room doors by two guards- one a unicorn, one a pegasus- both wearing brown cloaks emblazoned with a large pink heart with a red I in the middle of it. "Halt. State your business."

 

He sighed. Was his cloak not obvious? "I am Moon Crypt, Lord Inquisitor of Luna and one of the people sent by Celestia to investigate the case." He smiled lightly. "Seeing as I am your superior, I will simply let myself in, then..."

 

His way was blocked once again. "Princess Cadence says that she isn't seeing anyone."

 

He frowned. "I thought that I was-"

 

"She overrides you. Go away... sir."

 

He shook his head. "Can you at least pass the request along to her?"

 

The guards looked at each other. One of them went inside. He waited patiently outside the door...

 

(Can you play Cadence and Shining Armor? I'm not sure what you have planned, so...)

(OOC: I was planning to play any other characters besides my OC, fellow agents not mentioned and the culprit.)

 

Inside the throne room, Cadence's magic was holding quite strong due to Shining Armor's backup. 

 

The guard then came inside. "Princess, an agent is here to see you. He wants to ask you some questions." The guard said.

 

Shining Armor answered for Cadence. "Bring him in here right away." He said. 

 

The guard then came back and reproached Agent Moon. "You may proceed." The guard said. 

 

"Agent Moon, while your in there, I'll go around the place searching for clues and asking the townsponies some questions." Agent Thunder said as he was about to depart.

Agent Midnight Glow walked into the office, seeing all the ponies at work. She was called in for a case.  They didn't mention the details. Only just to come in immediately.  She walked up to one of the secretaries.  

 

"Hello.  I was called in for a mission?"

 

"You're Agent Midnight, correct?" the brown pony asked.

 

"Yes ma'am" Midnight replied.

 

"You will be sent to the Crystal Empire.  The Crystal Heart has been stolen.  There are already two agents at the Crystal Empire waiting for you"

 

The Crystal Heart? Stolen?  The secretary handed her files about the case and got up from her desk.  She started walking towards the teleportation room.  "Here you go." the mare said.  Midnight said her thanks and walked into the room.  The mare closed the door and Midnight was warped in front of the castle.  She saw Agent Thunder and Agent Moon in front of the castle and walked over.

 

"Sorry I'm late!  What would you like me to do?" She asked the two.

Moon Crypt looked deeply at her, then looked at his files. "Agent... Midnight, yes?" He smiled and nodded. "Can you please look around, hunt for evidence? We're going to need all we can get."

 

He turned to the princess. "Hello, Your Highness. Now, let us begin. I'll try not to be too blunt. First off- have you heard any strange noises in the past day since the Crystal Heart was stolen?"

"Uhm, not really. Everything has been normal, except one thing. Not many ponies are walking around these days. Despite King Sombra's defeat years ago, they've retorted to their old selves, trapped in their memories of the past. It's gonna be hard to get them to talk. But...the Crystal Fair is supposed to be scheduled two days from now. However, nopony knows about, which is good, for it'll be a surprise. Yet at the same time...their minds will still be thinking about the absence of the Crystal Heart." Cadence said. 

 

Meanwhile Agent Thunder saw Agent Midnight. "Agent Midnight, glad you can make it. Now, while Agent Moon is discussing with the Princess, let's go around the empire and see who we can talk to about the Crystal Heart. It's gonna be tough. Our first shot is to find and Crystal Guards, for they roam both day and night." Agent Thunder explained.

Moon Crypt smiled. "Alright." He mentally recorded that, thinking about this odd tidbit of information. "Okay. So... What was the reaction when the heart was stolen? Like, immediate chaos? Or maybe confusion? Or, even, your reaction?"

 

His communicator beeped as it sent the report to it. He would read it later, perhaps.

"There was an initial panic yes, and everypony ran back into their houses. Only a few of the civilians are walking around. Yet, some of the guards went after the culprit and haven't returned since then." Cadence explained. 

 

Meanwhile Agent Thunder, along with Agent Midnight, were searching for civilians or guards to talk to. Agent Thunder noticed a guard standing post. He then walked towards it. "Sir, the day when the Crystal Heart was stolen, could you make out any of features the culprit was wearing?" Agent Thunder asked. The guard thought. "The only thing I saw was a masked pony. It was clothed with a uniform that had a symbol of some sort. I couldn't quite remember the symbol. Perhaps another guard has more details on the symbol." The guard explained. "Alright, so that's our first small clue. He then took out his communicator and sent a quick text message to Agent Moon stating: "I have just talked to one of the guards and he said the culprit had some sort of symbol on his clothes. I'll get more details about this.". Agent Thunder then put his communicator away and proceeded to search for another guard.

Agent Midnight nodded to Agent Thunder.  She started walking around and saw the next guard.  "Good morning sir!  If I may ask you, the culprit was wearing a uniform and it had a symbol on it.  Can you describe the symbol on the uniform if you saw the culprit run?" She asked the guard.

 

(OOC: Should I be the guard or would you like to describe for Agent Midnight?)

(OOC: As DM, I'll take all exterior characters (i.e. guards, fellow agents other than us, Royal Associates (Princess Cadence, Shining Armor) etc.)

 

The guard noticed Agent Moon. "The culprit was running quite fast, so unfortuately I couldn't make it out. But, you know what, there's a certain guard who carries around a camera who takes photos of the Empire for updates on security and protection. He's around here somewhere. Look for a guard with a camera around his neck." The guard said. 

 

Meanwhile Thunder got the same response from another guard.

"Thank you for your help" Agent Midnight said and bowed as she walked on.  She saw some of the crystal ponies giving nervous glances.  She took out her communicator.  "I don't know if you got the same answer as me, but a guard told me to look for a Crystal guard with a camera and he will give us info" She relayed the message onto the other agents.  She walked towards the neighborhood as she saw another guard with a shiny silver camera. Midnight grabbed her communicator again. "Agent Thunder.  I found the guard.  He is by the Crystal garden and neighborhood" She said into it.  She kept it out to wait for him to respond.

"I got the same answer as well. I'll be there." Agent Thunder said as he gathered energy for a teleport. He then appeared right by Agent Midnight in front of the Crystal garden. Agent Thunder approached the guard. "Sir, I heard you were the photographer who's responible for relaying photos to Shining Armor to make sure the Empire is safe." Agent Thunder said. "Yes, that is my duty, now, what can I do for you?" The guard asked politely. "Well, if you haven't heard, the Crystal Heart is missing. I was wondering if you got any pictures of the culprit who stole it. I heard from the other guards that appearently, the culprit had a strange symbol on his clothes." Agent Thunder said. "Hmmmm, the guard said scrolling through his photos. "Aha!" He said taking out a photo of the culprit with the symbol on it. "It's kinda blurry since he's running kinda fast." The guard said handing the picture to Agent Thunder. "Well, that is a fancy symbol." The symbol had some sort of ancient emblem, that was turned slightly modern in the center with stars and lines around it. "I need to send this back to base ASAP." Agent Thunder said. "Do you mind if I make a copy of this pic?" Agent Thunder asked. "I don't mind." The guard said. Agent Thunder then gathered some energy and zapped the picture. A duplicate was created. "Okay, so we have more evidence. But we need to find the meaning of this symbol." Agent Thunder said. "Maybe the library will have what you're looking for." The guard suggested. "I think that's our best shot." Agent Thunder said. "Then we'll try Twilight Sparkle's library." Agent Thunder added. "I'll let Agent Moon know if we have to go to Ponyville." Agent Thunder said to Agent Midnight.

"Right.  There is a library in the empire.  We need to go through the market to get there.  The librarian there might be able to help us.  If she doesn't give us a clear answer, then we should try Twilight Sparkle in Ponyville" Agent Midnight said to Agent Thunder.  She started to walk towards the market.  As she turned, she saw a cart that was full of watermelons all over the ground.  "Agent Thunder!  Do you think the culprit went through here and tripped over this or maybe it was a klutzy pony" She questioned as she examined the accident.

"Uh, isn't that...what I just said." Agent Thunder said as he began to walk to the library. "But before we head to Ponyville, we need to let Agent Moon know." Agent Thunder said. 

 

Two minutes went by and they arrived at the library. They didn't see the librarian. Agent Thunder looked around. "Hello? Anypony in here?" He asked. He then went behind the desk to find the librarian cuddled up in fear. "I-is-is-he...b-b-back?" The librarian asked. "Oh no." Agent Thunder said with a facehoof. He then turned to Agent Midnight. "Whatever you do, do not say "The Name." Agent Thunder said eying Agent Midnight sharply.

Curious woke to the sound a fellow agent opening the door to his office. He dragged himself to consciousness, "Huh, must be some emergency or something." After a second he took to gather his lucidity, he started to smile brightly. "Finally! Finally, something interesting!"

 

"Agent C! Were you just sleeping on the job?" Asked the agent, as she dropped some papers on his desk.

 

"What? Of course not, I am a professional." Curious put a hoof to his chest, mocking injury as if though the accusation stabbed him in the chest. "Now, what's this?" Curious started to skim over the papers. "Ah! The Crystal Heart has been stolen. My, that was a bit better than I had expected."

 

"Excuse me, sir?"

 

Curious raised one eyebrow at the mare, "Right, I shouldn't be happy about that. But, it's something interesting at least, I got to to get excited! I haven't had one good case since I got here, after all! Now, I'm off to the teleportation room"

 

Curious quickly wrapped his scarf around his neck and rushed out of his of his office, before the other agent could make another comment. He quickly reaffirmed that he did, in fact have his standard issue gadgets on him as well. He still wasn't used to them, but he was expected to have them on himself at all times.

 

Curious reached the teleportation room, and one of the agents there told him that three others were already out on the field. "Well, don't keep me waiting then, teleport me! I can't let them get all the juicy details before I do."

 

Curious was teleported to outside the castle, and noticed that there was no pony in sight, including the other agents, He activated his communicator, "Agent C reporting, what's the situation, what's my assignment?"

Agent Thunder heard his communicator beeping. "Remember what I said. I gotta go take this call." Agent Thunder said. "Agent Thunder here, we are at the Crystal Library trying to figure out the identity of the culprit. We have our first piece of evidence. You must come here at once." Agent Thunder said as he put his communicator away and returned into the library.

Agent Midnight saw how frightened the librarian was.  "Wait what na-"  She stopped herself realizing what Agent Thunder meant.  King Sombra.  (Midnight can be a little slow.  That's another flaw) She waited as he took the call for another agent coming in.  Midnight looked around the library while she waited for orders.

Curious winced a bit at the mention of the library. He never really was one for books. "Roger that, Agent Thunder."

 

Curious quickly flew into the castle, flashing his identification to the guards posted as he did. "Right, the library. I have been in this castle before, but never bothered to find the library." Curious looked around, then realized that there was only one door he never opened before in the castle, and deduced that would likely be where the Library was.

 

Curious went into the library and noticed a fellow agent, a female unicorn, "That would be Agent Midnight, if I remember correctly."

 

"Okay, I am here now. Where's the bread crumbs?"

"Whoa slow down there!" Agent Thunder said. "We're at a kind of a stall right now. The librarian is scared out of her mind, for she fears that "it" is going to come back. "Don't say it, for that'll make things worse." Agent Thunder explained as he went back to where the librarian was. "I'm not gonna hurt you. I'm just here to ask you a question." He then took out the picture from his small bag and put it in front of the librarian. "Now, do you know a book where I could find out more about this symbol?" Agent Thunder asked. The librarian, still scared looked at the picture. "Uh...uh...I-I..." The librarian stammered as she tried to process the information that was in front of her. She then slowly got from under the desk and picked up the picture. She then put on her glasses and looked at it closely. "Uh...I...think...I-I know...wh-where this s-symbol i-i-is from..." She said trying to walk forward with her legs shaking nervously. Agent Thunder followed behind.
