Fender was unsure whether to tell about Springsteps and Wonder Shrine, the avalanche and all that had happened on the way to, and in Vanhoover. He looked to Winterglade, a hint of curiosity on his face. He leaned in and whispered to her, "Should we tell them...everything?"

Winterglade shook her head once and grimaced slightly. "No, not everything. It's nothing, mom," Winterglade quickly interjected before Morning Mist could ask anything. Winterglade leaned closer to Fender and whispered, "I don't want to worry mom about your headache, but I guess we can tell them about Springsteps." At this point Autumn Glow was staring at the pair with rapt interest. Winterglade returned the stare with a stern look, as if saying 'not your business.'

Morning Mist looked worried for a moment. "Was there a problem?" she asked.

"Everything's okay! It's just that we ran into a filly on the train to Vanhoover. She was lost on the train, and we helped her to find her mother, right, Fender?" Winterglade nudged the stallion with an elbow. She felt bad for trying to lie to her mother, but then again for some reason she didn't like the idea of having to explain how she had to see Fender suffered ten days ago.

@@Starshine,

"Right!" Fender said confidently, and chuckled, "We found her mother, and there was a ton of happiness to go around." He smiled, reassuringly. He thought to himself for a moment, "I am gonna miss Springsteps...I really hope she can play with our kids one day..." A certain sad smile came over him, but he quickly replaced it with the same reassuring smile from before.

"Yeah, the filly looked awfully sad for a moment, but after we found her mother she just started jumping all around. We invited them into our cabin for the night, too," Winterglade was beaming at this point. Remembering her encounter with Springsteps had brought a smile to her face. She felt bad that she was unable to say goodbye, though. Morning Mist giggled hearing her daughter's excited words, Autumn Glow on the other hand had lost interest and curled back to sleep.

Fender's sad face was brief, but Winterglade caught the wind of it from the side. With a sigh she slid closer to Fender and hugged the stallion. "What's wrong? Do you miss the little fuzzball?" She nuzzled the stallion and chuckled. "Don't worry about it, soon we will have our own fuzzballs, and I'm sure at least one will be very close to you."

He chuckled in a rather exhausted manner, "Yeah...hm, what makes you so sure? We have no idea what kind of father I'll make." A hint of nervousness was in his voice, though he did well to hide it. He was unsure of how his parenting would be with a foal that was his own, and was certain he wanted to be there for much longer than his parents were. The thoughts made him rather anxious. He quickly took a deep breath and brushed away the thoughts, leaving Winterglade with his question.

Winterglade pouted. She never liked seeing Fender being upset or gloomy, she wasn't making any exception now. Without a word she jabbed an elbow on Fender's stomach and rocked him back and forth. "You will make a good father, dang it! I'm sure you will be, and if you won't I'll make you one." She pushed her snout into his for an emphasis.

Morning Mist smiled. Seeing her daughter like this certainly brought back so many memories of her own pregnancies. "It's normal for an expecting father to be nervous, Fender, but you shouldn't forget what's really matter. Your wife needs you and your love more than ever. Stay together and take care of yourselves, I'm sure parenthood would be natural to you when the time come," she spoke.

He smiled at the words coming from both mares, any sense of doubt leaving him, for the time being. "Right! I'm always there for Winterglade, even when I'm rambling on about nothing, like some fool out of his element." he chuckled. "Well..." He turned to Winterglade, "...let's just  be the best parents we can be, when the time comes."

Winterglade chuckled and nuzzled Fendre lovingly, a warm smile on her face. Yes, they would be the bestest parents Equestria will ever see, for her foals, and her mother. She promised herself to be always there for her foals, she would do everything to ensure that they would have a better foalhood than their parents. With a sigh Winterglade leaned her body to Fender for support, holding back a yawn.

Morning Mist perked up her ears. "Oh, I'm sure you both are still tired from the train ride. Why don't you two take a rest in your room? I'll deliver your lunch to you later," she offered.

Timeskip until evening? :o

Fender and Winterglade both rested until late evening. Nothing special had happened. The usual chatting, snacking, Fender impatiently checking Winterglade's belly for any signs of life.

He was again resting his head against her stomach, trying to listen for anything or feel for kicks. "I know it might be far too early...but I'm too excited!" He chuckled.

Winterglade repeatedly pushed Fender away from her stomach, but the stallion kept coming back. "Fender..." she whined. "Don't be like that, you know there won't be anything until three months in." She stuck out her tongue and booped the stallion in the snout.

They were loitering around in their private room, a bowl of salad was ready next to the bed. The evening sunlight ebbed in through the window, giving the room an eerie atmosphere, but somehow Winterglade liked it. She rolled around until her head was on Fender's lap. She giggled. "Hehe, you're so impatient. Silly Fendy. How much foals do you want, anyway?"

He looked down at her, a strange look of confidence on his face. He decided to mess with her for a moment, "Enough to fill Canterlot." He grinned mischievously, "And we shall raise every one of them!" He chuckled, a now-tired smile appearing on his face. He yawned, "Ah...hm...honestly, I don't think we could handle more than three in our lifetime...but we'll see."

Winterglade stared at her husband for a good two minutes when he said the thing about Canterlot. She knew it was supposed to be a joke, but somehow she couldn't help but to picture herself herding around hundreds of fillies and colts. With a pout she jabbed at Fender's stomach.

"Three... I like that number," Winterglade chuckled, her cheeks felt warm. "Two should be enough, but three is the most I can get." With a grunt she squirmed around until her snout met Fender's and nuzzled him. The sudden knock from the door threw her off guard and made her yelp. "A moment!" she called out and quickly opened the door, but there was nopony behind it.

Winterglade looked around. "That's weird... Oh! What's this?" She finally noticed the fruit basket at the floor and the piece of paper on it. Cautiously she grabbed the paper and read it. "'Congratulation for the good news. I'm sorry I can't be there to celebrate it with you. Love, dad.'" She set the paper aside and looked at the fruit basket. There were so many kind of fruits in it. After a few moment of silence, she let out a long sigh. "Stupid dad."

Fender chuckled at his wife's comment toward her father. "What's so stupid, sweetie?" He said in partial confusion. "It is good news, after all." He nuzzled her. "Plus, with the way you crave...these fruits should give us at least a week before we have to go grocery shopping!" He teased, but smiled politely at her.

Winterglade giggled and nuzzled her husband back, slightly purring in agreement. The basket did have a papaya in it. She pecked his cheek once and spoke, "A week? I would be surprised if I don't eat all of these in one hour." With a grin she took the fruit basket with her snout and walked back to the bed then rummaged through the fruits.

After a few moments, Winterglade triumphantly pulled out a hand of banana from the basket. "Oh wow...! I thought they don't have this at this time of the year!" She pulled one out and ate it greedily before turning back to Fender. "Come have some, I'm sure there's enough for both of us. What kind of fruits do you like, anyway?"

He smiled delightedly, and jokingly pranced over to the bed, "Weeeell...you know I'm not too picky." He chuckled in his usual way now. He snatched a banana from her with his mouth, and devoured it shortly after. "Fruit is fruit." He grinned, and kissed her cheek.

Winterglade's cheeks faintly blushed from the unexpected kiss, she was soon overwhelmed by a giggling fit. "Hehehee... You are always the silly one." She booped his snout with a hoof. "And no, just because they are all fruit doesn't mean they would taste the same. Here, let me peel you one." She peeled one banana and hold it up to Fender's mouth.

He happily bit the banana and swallowed the bite effortlessly. He chuckled, "Still though, you should have most of this...you'll soon have somepony calling you 'mommy.' " He smiled thoughtfully, "Hm...I wonder what the foal will look like." He now smiled mischievously again, "And I wonder what our army of children will look like once we've filled Canterlot..." his eyes darted to Winterglade, they had a certain look of joking fear in them, given his stupid sense of humor. He continued, only by sticking his tongue out at Winterglade.

Winterglade nearly snorted in laughter as Fender threw her a look that could only described as 'silly.' Playfully she tickled the stallion's side until he fell to the floor then pounced on him. "What's with you and the Canterlot?" she giggled and nuzzled him. "Do you miss princess Luna already?" She raised an eyebrow, faking a look of jealousy.

The fake look of jealousy seemed rather familiar to Fender. In this position, he simply chuckled, "Luna? Nah...royalty is great and all as it is...but I was more considering making you my princess." He smiled confidently, and pecked at the mare's neck. A moment later, he sighed in an infatuated manner, and stared into the mare's eyes, intently. "Y'know, I'm absolutely right when I say 'you never stop getting beautiful.' I know I am. Everything about you...I'm just glad I married you...now you're stuck with me." He chuckled.

Winterglade blushed quite profusely at the brief peck, and even more so when Fender continued talking. "You're saying like it's a bad thing... I love you too, you silly colt," she giggled and closed in to give her husband a loving kiss. Without breaking the contact she kneeled down and laid on the floor beside Fender. "And no, you're the one who are stuck with me," she breathed and continued the kiss, clearly enjoying the moment.

When the long kiss finally came to an end, he chuckled once more, though he had been smiling the whole time their lips were locked. "No, you make it sound like it's a bad thing...I'm more than happy to be stuck with you." He pecked her once more, "You're quite the blessing." He grinned.

Winterglade chuckled and nuzzled Fender, her cheeks warm from the kiss. "You're also a blessing to me, Fender. You are-" The door suddenly slammed open, causing Winterglade to jump to a considerable height with a loud yelp.

"The dinner's ready!" Autumn Glow chirped happily from the door, a pink apron draped around her neck. "It's seaweed on a stick let's have it while it's hot-" Her speech was cut off with a pillow to the face.

"Sis...! We are having some private time here!" Winterglade whined, exasperated. She fluttered down from the bed, another pillow ready on her hooves. Autumn Glow only cackled madly and dashed away. Winterglade sighed and looked at Fender. "So... dinner?"

Fender chuckled, "Well, yeah I could go for a bite." He smiled apologetically at Winterglade, she seemed to have been enjoying herself. "Your sister's a hoofful." He grunted as he got off of the floor. "Now she'll say something like 'they were doing the naughty and I walked in on them.' " He said in an almost mocking voice, and chuckled once more. "Right then, let's eat."

Winterglade rolled her eyes hearing Fender's comment, holding back a chuckle. He was right, Autumn can be hoofful at times. Her cheeks flared as she heard a muffled giggle from the dining room. "I swear... One day, I will tie her up in something," she mumbled then looked at Fender. "Right, let's eat."

The mare led them both into the dining area, on where Autumn Glow and Morning Mist could be seen already chatting over a large bowl of salad. There was another bowl filled with what seemed to be fruit salad with generous amount of mayo, which caused Winterglade to perked up and hurriedly took seat. Morning Mist smiled happily as her youngest daughter attacked the bowl with gusto. "Don't rush it. You would choke on the apples," she said with a giggle.

Morning Mist turned to Fender and gave the stallion a peck to his cheek. "So, you will leave to Ponyville tomorrow morning?" she asked, looking somewhat a little sad. "I guess this will be our last dinner for a good while. Well then, it's time to eat. Don't be shy, your father brought a lot of food for all of us." She motioned to the table, there was indeed a lot of various fruits and vegetables on it. Winterglade hiccuped, and Autumn Glow broke into tearful fit of laughter.

Fender was a little bit disheartened at Morning Mist coming to the realization. Still, he managed to smile. "Yeah...we'll be thinking of you guys." He chuckled, "Also, if I never said it before: Thank you for letting me marry your daughter. Thank dad for me, too." He started digging into his salad, when he finished about three quarters of it, he found himself full. It was odd, but he felt like he just didn't need to eat as much. He shrugged away the feeling, and gave Winterglade his plate. "I think I've eaten about all I could handle, but you seem to be enjoying yourself over there." He chuckled once more.
