Commander_PonyShep 349 June 17, 2013 Share June 17, 2013 (edited) For me, it's Crystal Heart Spell, and not just because it still has ponies rather than humans. Where in the film the other five ponies remained behind so that they wouldn't "disrupt the balance of both worlds" or whatever, here in the book, the mares helped Twilight, namely by giving her advice on how to lead Equestria. Shift 4,272 June 17, 2013 Share June 17, 2013 Let me get this straight. So, this is pretty much what you are thinking? "Friends don't help out Twilight because if they do the worlds will be inbalanced and could cause the end of the world, yet on Equestria they were helping as much as they can? lolno. But look at this here book! Gilda and Trixie are acting totally out of character, but her friends are actually being shown...though, actually, not that much. But at least they were shown! In Equesrtia Girls there was no ponies and humans and that's dumb, so despite EQG being a full film feature that made it to movies, and Twilight's friends had a perfectly valid reason to remain behind, this book is BETTAH!" ...if not, please, enlighten me. That's how i'm pretty much reading your post, anyway. 1 Have the courage to think and act on your own. And have the courage to disobey.

In the book, it was established that Princess Cadence resorted to her own friends to unlock the Crystal Heart Spell and become a full-fledged leader, namely by following their advice. The same can be said for what Twilight herself had to do to become a leader, as she had to turn to her friends' advice to become a full-fledged leader herself. Yes, it was mostly in a slice-of-life situation, but it still counted as helping her and keeping up with her. I mean, look at the advice they gave her: -Pinkie Pie's Cake Day -Applejack's family dinners -Rainbow Dash's pegasus royal guards -Fluttershy's animal shelter -Rarity's kingdom fashions As for EqG, "disrupting the balance of both worlds" just seems like a pathetic excuse to make the story more Twilight-centric, almost at the expense of her friends. If the writers didn't give the other five main ponies humanized doubles, they could've went in with her to ensure that her mission was a success, rather than remain behind and useless while they are substituted by cheap, humanized knock-offs of them. I mean, it's bad enough that Twilight turned to Cadence and Shining Armor to save the day in Canterlot Wedding, followed by Spike in Crystal Empire, and unfortunately I'm not into Cadence, Shining, or Spike. The show had always been about Twilight's interaction with her friends, and to make it as unnecessarily Twilight-centric as possible just degenerates it into another Dragon Ball Z or Bleach, rife with companion characters who don't do anything and are eventually replaced, anyway. All I'm saying is that I didn't want Twilight to be the ultimate solution for everything, while her friends become useless and replaceable. After all its called FRIENDSHIP is Magic not Twilight is magic. However I think that Canterlot Wedding ending was just to make little girls like Cadence and Shining armor and The Spike saving the emprie was Just a Lesson to twilight Blueblood's only fan in the whole wide Fandom
Scootalove 10,689 June 17, 2013 Share June 17, 2013 I think it falls between more of the lines of Twilight doing tasks on her own, learning lessons, or Twilight enlisting the help from her friends to help with the Crystal Heart spell. When in fact, Spike helped Cadence save the Crystal Empire from Sombra. So, we could say that Twilight can trust her friends.
