First Time Using A Base...

So, you know those people who either lack confidence or ability to draw ponies, and so instead go to the internets to find bases which they can color and style themselves?

 

That’s me. And this is my first time.

 

Overall, I kind of like how she came out. I haven’t figured out a thing about her, other than she’s a brat and – obviously – very sexualized. I don’t know, I was kind of going with the flow this afternoon and messing with her in GIMP. I think her name is Luster, and she’s the illegitimate daughter of Jetsetter. His wife, Uppercrust, doesn’t know about her yet.

 

Since this is my first time using a base, do you guys have any tips and tricks to share? Any ideas of how to accessorize her, or maybe share some of your favorite bases with me?  

 

The base itself is a bit NSFW, since the pose is quite sensual, so spoilered just in case.

I used GIMP, I love that program. And if you made that avatar you have, I can totally see you becoming well known in the MLP community. xD

Zero reason to say no homo...Honestly. I'm not one of those people who reads innuendo into every little thing.

 

Also, it wasn't that hard to make. The hardest part was figuring out which color palettes went nicely together, and for some reason lavender/blue works very well with gray/black. I liked making it.

 

I'm working on a new OC. This has officially become my dump site for all base-related things. I hate how his eyes look so...EVIL, but the base I used didn't come with eyes, so I had to photoshop those separately. X_X

Hmm, on the eyes. Um, well, they would perhaps look less intimidating if he had the white bit. The proper term for it is escaping me right now, but, you know, the white bit to surround the other bits.

Oh, and be careful about trying to cheat the word count. You can get points for that, or so I've been told. Just a heads up.

 

Edit: @GaleFenrir, yeah, he's being redone. Plus, I kind of flinch whenever I see Shining Armor's body physique, since it's obviously so unique. :/ Oh well.

 

And those eyes...they stare into your SOUL. O_O

Haha naw, in all seriousness, I like what you did.  That color scheme is really easy to look at.  

Well if we're going for points, I might as well shoot for the high-score!

EDIT1:  I mean, if I had to change anything, I would change the color of her eyes.

It would have been nice to see a different color compliment her normal color, it feels a little bit over-used.
Though aside from gray, I would think that finding another suitable color would be difficult.

Not really, I had fun. And I'm glad you like it. The colt took...about two hours? Yeah, about that, since I had to snip out the background and that takes forever. X_X And then I had to see if it would look nicer as a vectored image (smoothing out lines, pixels, etc.,), but it didn't. Plus the mane took a while since I'm still trying to figure out how to make them. ^^
