Greetings, everypony!

 

My name is ePONYmous, but you can call me ePONY for short, or even just E. I know, not the most creative name, is it?

 

I couldn't think of a cool pony name, and I like puns, so I thought, "Eponymous will work. It has 'pony' right in it, so why not put some emphasis on the 'pony' part by capitalizing it?" and that was it, really. I was actually surprised that nobody else had that name when I first came up with it. Despite my name, I am not looking to give my name to something, or to have something named after me. lol

 

My ponysona is in my avatar, but here's a bigger picture of him:

I drew that, and yes, as you can tell, I am not an artist, lol, but I don't mind drawing for fun once in a while. He is an orange unicorn that specializes in weather magic, specifically thunderstorms. He's orange because my favorite color is orange, and the whole weather-magic-thunderstorm thing is because I have a fondness for thunderstorms myself. I love lightning. ^^

 

I am not new to the brony fandom. I first stumbled upon ponies by accident back in May of 2011, by way of a community I used to be a part of. I was browsing the Internet and kept stumbling upon image macros of ponies and I had no idea what it was about until May, when I came across a thread, while lurking in that community, entitled "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic." I saw people raving about it and some saying things like, "You are a brony now?" and "Welcome to the herd." I had no idea what "brony" meant and I looked into it further. I soon found out that there was this developing fandom surrounding this show.

 

At first I was very incredulous and thought, "There is no way guys close to my age could be watching My Little Pony..." making the wrongful assumption that it was similar to the cartoon of the 1980s. Despite this, my curiosity got the better of me and I thought, "Oh what the heck. I'll give it a shot. I'll probably watch an episode or two and I won't be interested." As you can guess, I was definitely wrong about that. I started with the pilot episodes, and I was hooked almost immediately. Just by the first impressions of the animation itself, the storyline, and Spike's humor. Spike was actually my favorite character at first. Then it switched when I first saw Fluttershy, as her shyness paralleled my own, just not to the same extent.

 

However, my favorite pony these days is Pinkie Pie. Strangely enough, I found her to be very annoying at first. Actually one of the ponies I liked the least, because I didn't really like how she randomly broke out in song and all that. Ironically, that's one of the things I love about her today. I think it was after "Party of One" that I started liking her more, as I feel that episode added a lot of depth to her character. I learned she was not just a crazy pink party pony, but rather a pony that would do anything to make sure her friends were happy. A responsibility she takes very seriously, despite how silly she appears on the surface. As someone who has experience in positions of trying to keep people happy, I can definitely understand how difficult a task like that can be.

 

Despite being a brony for this long, most people in real life do not know I'm a brony. In fact, it was only by chance that some family found out. I was attending a party (Pinkie would be proud), when— and try to follow this one, lol— my sister in-law's sister's boyfriend turned on MLP:FiM on Netflix. I made a joke like, "Who here watches this?" and he said he did, and I said, "Really?" and then he goes, "Heck yeah, I'm a brony. This show is awesome," or something like that, then he asked if I watched it. I said, "I'll answer that with this," and that's when I pulled out my iPhone and opened the Pony Sounds app and played some quotes. So basically the only ones in real life that know are him, his girlfriend, my sister in-law, brother, nephew and niece. My brother asked me what a brony was and I explained that it was a fan of MLP:FiM and he actually didn't say anything negative at all. In fact, nobody made a big deal out of it. So that was a relief.

 

This is not the only pony forum I've been a part of either. This would be the third. I spent almost a year on my first one, which I found only because I googled a certain pony-related word, but after some things happened I didn't feel welcome there anymore. The second one I never really felt I could fit in, plus it kinda got taken down. Since then I've only interacted with the brony community via Tumblr, with little success, and I miss that community feel I get from a forum.

 

So after about a year away from message boards, and after a friend of mine pointed me toward MLPForums, I figured I'd give it another try. I'll be honest, I am a little nervous, especially considering some things that have happened in my past, but I hope to put that all behind me and start fresh in a new pony community. :3

 

Oh, and one last thing, I have this nasty habit of writing long posts every once in a while... as you can tell... I hope that isn't a problem. ^^;

Yeah, I already read all of that when you showed it to me over Skype. I really hope you'll come to like it here at least as much as I have. It may take a while before you get used to place because of how large it feels but you know, just one step at a time.

 

Oh and here's a mistake I made early on. The General Discussion board is kind of a semi-serious discussion board. If you're looking for something far more laid-back than the General Discussion section, you'll want to go the the Forum Lounge section instead. I kinda made this erroneous assumption because of my experience at that forums we've both been on so I'm guessing it'll be helpful information for you.

In fact I do but it goes deeper than that it is referencing AC/DC my all time favorite band since middle school. That is what the lightning bolt in my name is referencing High Voltage rock n' roll. But yeah lightning is awesome regardless of that fact.

I was a part of another brony forum too.  I wouldn't say I didn't feel welcome, it was just a hard forum to follow and I go in and out of being online alot, I'm a very very busy man with very important things to do at all times (aw man no hoidy toidy monocle smiley?  Sad day...)  And while I would consider myself a brony for the sheer fact that I adore the show and it even makes me cry.... frequently (what can I say I'm a total sucker for love and cuteness and all that jazz)  I'm not real big on the fandom.  This DID cause a bit of a problem at the other forum, not like... in too big of a way but I just found myself not knowing how to relate alot of times.  I may have that problem here as well but as long as people don't expect me to know all the fan lingo and read the fan fics and debate about what deep hidden meanings lie in each episode it shouldn't be a problem.  I just watch the show and get filled to bursting with warm fuzzies and then cry at the AWWWWWWW-ness of it all LOL hahahaha  

 

But yes it's cool you have a friend on here already, that's always a plus, hope we can be friends, and your art looks way more artistic than anything I could create.  I'm wonderful at writing songs but total crap with illustrations.  See you around amigo
