Pony Marriage and relationship Discussion.

So, I had a thought...how do marriage ceremonies work for ponies? I looked around for this topic, but I never quite found anything helpful.

 

We've got several different basic combinations here...

 

Earth Pony and Earth Pony

Pegasus and Pegasus

Unicorn and Unicorn

Earth Pony and Pegasus

Earth Pony and Unicorn

Pegasus and Unicorn

 

IMPORTANT: I am leaving Alicorns out of this equation because they tend to be a bit...few and far between.

 

Those should be all of the basic combinations. So that brings up a thought...how do things like proposals, or even weddings work.

 

I believe rings are canon for Unicorns, to go on their horns...but what about the other races?

I think Earth Ponies and pegasi would either get a VERY large ring to fit around their hoof, a bracelet, or something else.

 

 

I'd like to think it's that (and believe me, that was my first thought), but maybe there could be more to this. Brainstorming, brainstorming...

How to they build things without fingers or opposable thumbs? How do they open jars of peanut butter? How do they build houses? How do pegasus rest or even walk on clouds?  How do they create weather on Cloudsdale? Do they have elected officials or do they live in a crushing monarchy?

Some questions, yes. Though to just completely ignore the thought is rather...uninspiring. Sure, not everything can be explained, but that's what our imaginations are for, no?.

Let's just put it this way. I haven't see any earth ponies on the show with rings (ie bracelets) that they wear. Until we actually view a confirmed married couple (haven't seen any on the Cakes) or an earth pony wedding it's not much of a concern. I guess fanfic writers can write it as they see fit.

I think we already knew this. Now let's try speculating a bit, coming up with some ideas, rather than just dropping the topic at first glance.

The Earth ponies and Pegasi might wear some sort of necklace, or bracelet. I don't really know, because I don't see any place on their bodies to put a ring on.

I think Pegasi would wear something that attaches to their wing. Like a band that attaches to the lead edge of their wings. Like what Marina (From teh show Silverwing) is wearing on her arm/wing in this pic.

 

 

 

As for  earth ponies, maybe something simple such as an earring?
