A Talking Dragon 257 June 28, 2013 Share June 28, 2013 I wonder if anyone ever considered that A.J could be smaller in design as a human than the others? The Poison joke had a funny effect on her, and she's still related to Granny Smith (who doesn't seem that big by design and still shares A.J's blond hair). My card: "A Talking Dragon - as acknowledged by Fluttershy" I've got lots to say.
Sugar Cube 4,843 June 28, 2013 Share June 28, 2013 ^ People forget that the ponies pulling the plows were all males (A.J didn't pull), so compared to them Twilight is smaller. I agree with others on why A.J won't be fat. Don't think A.J's would be very buff or muscular though. People tend to give A.J way too much credit and R.D very little on this. - Rainbow Dash is stronger than A.J in the arms department. Her job entails more usage of this area. - Applejack is stronger in the leg area, but the rest of her seems pretty average: Keep in mind that Big Mac works the plow, not A.J. - Rainbow Dash has been shown more than once to be able to carry at least one pony. At one point she flew dragging two ponies. A.J struggled to keep Twilight from falling off a cliff and was force to drag a non-resistance Fluttershy up a mountain. - Pegasuses have been shown to be the more warrior type than the earth ponies - A.J can kick trees, R.D can literally knock the base off of several at once. - When A.J couldn't use her legs, Twilight was able to hold her down without much trouble to use magic on her in Return of Harmony part 2. R.D and a changeling have also knocked A.J down and held her there. It took four, include A.J, to hold Rainbow down against her will. Are you saying Rainbow Dash would be bigger than AJ? Stronger? Or both? Because I disagree, more often than not it's AJ who's displaying the strength, not Rainbow Dash. - There's not really any proof that RD is stronger than AJ in the arms department. I would say they're pretty close to even. - Big Macintosh works the plow because he's a stallion, and by default, that means he's stronger and better suited for the job. That doesn't take anything away from AJ's strength though. - Rainbow Dash can carry a pony, but we don't know how long. Also, it isn't fair to compare what a pegasus can hold and what and earth pony can hold. A pegasus pony can fly, and so they have a much easier time getting a grip on a pony. Fluttershy can also carry a pony while flying. Does that mean she is stronger than Applejack too? And Applejack carried Fluttershy on her back around an enormous mountain. That says a lot about her strength. She also willingly carried Pinkie Pie on her back TWICE. (A Friend in Deed and Magical Mystery Cure) - Being a "warrior type" has little to do with anything. - Dash can only to knock the base off of trees with her speedy flying. So, yes, she can use her speed as a source of strength, but pound for pound, muscle for muscle, she still isn't as bodily strong as AJ. - The four of them have to make sure to hold Dash down because Dash can fly very fast, so they don't want to take any chances. Either way, these are extremely minor details. Besides, Applejack stopped the carriage bus in Mare Do Well after Dash failed to do so, wings and all. ONE of Applejack's hind legs has more power than BOTH of Dash's hind legs. Observe: And we all know who won that contest of strength. In fact, Applejack won almost every one of the events involving strength, with the one exception being the arm wrestle, which involves a lot of skill anyway.
Orablanco Account 3,707 June 28, 2013 Share June 28, 2013 I always assumed out of all of them, Dash would be the shortest and leanest, due to her focus on speed and my head canon saying she's the youngest. AJ would probably be the tallest, me thinks. Onwards to my DeviantArt page! Sig by the illustrious Kyoshi!
Party Cannon 876 June 28, 2013 Share June 28, 2013 Logic in My Little Pony is like the Karma Kameleon, it comes and goes. It is after all a cartoon, so it goes with the territory. Case and Point: Scooby and Shaggy. Notice their "figure" at the very end. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_BR1LGzIxE AJ loves to eat, but she is by no means a "big girl" or fatter than the others. She is a wonderfully un-average-average pony.
A Talking Dragon 257 June 29, 2013 Share June 29, 2013 Are you saying Rainbow Dash would be bigger than AJ? Stronger? Or both? ^ I'm just trying to get people to think. I've noticed a lot of fan art likes to make Rainbow Dash smaller than everyone else for some reason, while A.J's always larger. To me, this makes no sense. At the very least, R.D should be able to go toe to toe with Applejack. These two are athletic rivals for a reason. There's not really any proof that RD is stronger than AJ in the arms department. I would say they're pretty close to even. ^ They arm wrestled twice. A.J struggled to move her the first time. Rainbow flat out beat her the second time. Dash also fights using her forearms more, while A.J only fights using her backlegs. Fluttershy can also carry a pony while flying. Does that mean she is stronger than Applejack too? And Applejack carried Fluttershy on her back around an enormous mountain. That says a lot about her strength. ^ Fluttershy can't carry anypony on her own. I'm glad you mentioned the mountain incident my fellow mlp fan. Rainbow Dash actually dragged a struggling Pinkie Pie against her will from her house all the way to Sweet Apple Acres. AJ dragged a nonresistance Fluttershy partly up the way. Many fans hold the fanon that earth ponies are stronger than pegasuses, so the former act is seen as more impressive. She also willingly carried Pinkie Pie on her back TWICE. ^ Dash knocked a grown stallion high into the air and caught him on her back. Also, in the same episode, she shouldered a large statue on her back (balance issue aside). Being a "warrior type" has little to do with anything. ^ It does. It means that the pegasuses might have the advantage in overall strength after over a thousand years of battle culture and conditioning. A mare being able to lift 1000 pounds with just wings is impressive. The four of them have to make sure to hold Dash down because Dash can fly very fast, so they don't want to take any chances. Either way, these are extremely minor details. Besides, Applejack stopped the carriage bus in Mare Do Well after Dash failed to do so, wings and all. ONE of Applejack's hind legs has more power than BOTH of Dash's hind legs. Observe: ^ Dash can't carry four ponies at once, so that means they were still needed to hold her in place. As for the second point, watch the video carefully. In addition to using her legs, A.J stops the carriage smartly. She angles her body better and displaces the force more and digs more into the ground. Using it as an ally. In addition, the ground levels off better. Dash can only to knock the base off of trees with her speedy flying. So, yes, she can use her speed as a source of strength . . . ^ You still have to take into account body endurance. Dash used her body to karate chop and nuke a barn. Face it, A.J fights more well rounded, (using projectiles and more wit) but RD's a freakin tank. - 1 My card: "A Talking Dragon - as acknowledged by Fluttershy" I've got lots to say. Zygen 6,066 June 29, 2013 Share June 29, 2013 Well I think AJ might be a little bigger then I. Equestria girls, but she does a lot of work, so she wouldn't really be fat. Pinkie on the other hand, I'm supprised with as much candy as she eats she should be a balloon . Thanks to Gone Airbourne for the awesome sig!
