Pony Trot (line test)

I was looking through my work, and noticed that I hadn't really animated anything on four legs. A good excuse as any to try and animate a pony.

As the titles says, this is just a line test.

There's a few things I'm not entirely pleased with. I'm especially not happy with the mane. If come back to ponies, I'll have to work on that. Also, she seems to kind of hit the side of the frame before going off-screen. I literally have no idea why, I was going through it frame by frame, and saw nothing out of place. It's animated in single cells (so many in-betweens 9QvF1.png), as opposed to symbols and tweening like the show, so it can't really be a technical thing. I don't really know what I'm doing wrong there.

Anyway, critique, slagging and bitching are all welcome.

Compliments are too.  ;)

looks amazing! i still can't figure out how people are capable of doing these things...

anyway, as far as constructive critisism, here's what i got: the hind legs do look a bit off IMO, but i can't really place what's off about it...

also, if you can make the tip of the tail like bounce in a diffrent direction then the whole tail itself, i think the whole things becomes much more 'alive'

looks amazing overall! keep on doing these things please :)

Heyho,

Thanks! Yeah, I agree, the tail could also use a bit more work. Perhaps I was being a bit lazy there.  :P

I can't quite see what's up with the hind legs, but I'll have a look at the individual frames with fresh eyes later and see if I can spot anything.

Yup, the only thing that I can see off is the hind leg. Otherwise, it looks great!

I still wonder how people can do that... it looks so hard.

oh hey that looks awesome! How long did this take to make?

But yeah, as you're saying the mane could be made better. Otherwise everything seems good to me!

I'm not entirely sure actually. I didn't work on it from start to finish in a single sitting, I kinda kept leaving and coming back to it over the course of 3 days because I had other stuff to do. But I'd say a good few hours. Probably longer then it should have.  :muffins:

Cute! I love it. That's a pretty good animation, it almost looks like it came right from the show itself. Besides the hind leg being a tad off it's perfect in my opinion.
