Fanon stuff questions

So I know that there's just a crapload of fanon stuff regarding MLP, but I'm not familiar with all of it, so I wanted to post a bit to clear some stuff up.

 

For starters, I've heard that the fanon regarding Lyra (other than her living with Bon-Bon) is that she's fascinated by humans. Is this true, and if so, where did this come from?

 

Also, where did the Lyra/Bon-Bon friendship come from? A fanfic?

 

Moreover, did Vinyl and Octavia's friendship thing come from Epic Wub Time on YouTube, or was it from something else?

 

Moving on, is there any fanon for Carrot Top? I hear about her a lot, yet I barely know anything about her.

 

Those are enough to start off. I'll post more questions if I can think of any.

Okay, I can partially answer the first two questions, I think.

 

Lyra's obsession with humans is a fanon that originates from this:

 

 

See, all she's doing is sitting in a very unlikely way for an equine. So some suggested that this may be a hint. She also waved a hoof one or two times, some also interpreted that as a hint on "humanophilia".

 

And for Lyra's relationship with Bon Bon:

 

 

They simply often appear together on screen.

 

 

 

And shipping seems to work this way, mostly.

 

 

 

As you know, fanon doesn't necessarily follow logical rules. People see things or make up stoires that seem to fit because there is no proof that they are wrong. They "can" be right. If they are liked by many, they become more popular and at some point people keep them as popular theories and in-jokes.

Well there is this scene with Bon-Bon and Lyra that's seems to interpertate that they were about to kiss. Of course, this was after the fandom boom so it might just a in joke that DHX threw in for the fandom.

I guess I'll follow on from @, post, as they have answered the first two questions perfectly. The fanon for Vinyl and Octavia is because they are both musicians that appear in the show, and people just went "Wow! Those two should be shipped too!"

There is one for Carrot Top with Derpy too, probably with the same reasons as Lyra and Bon Bon, I'll look into it.

As far as the last question about Carrot Top/Golden Harvest, she doesn't seem to do as much in fanon-wise as Lyra, Bon Bon, Derpy, or even Colgate/Minuette.  Sometimes she's Derpy's roommate, but othertimes she's Applejack's rival in terms of farming (Carrots vs. Apples of course).  Overall, I haven't seen as much fanon materials with Carrot Top as I have with the other background ponies.
