The orb turned green. "Correct. Scootaloo is alive." The Orb said.

 

Pheonix opened his eyes. "Wha-.." Pheonix said mysteriously. "Is The captain of the guard alive?" Asked Pheonix, even though they knew the answer. "Correct. Captain Kevin is not alive." The Orb said.

"Holly..." Pheonix said.

"That's the orb the Squire gave me" Rock commented "He said it could help find you"

Rock remembered that the Squire was mentioned in the letter as well. Could he have anything to do with the events going on here? Despite Rock's attempts to not dwell on the matter, his curiosity always seemed to outshine his close-mindedness.

"That's the orb the Squire gave me" Rock commented "He said it could help find you"

Rock remembered that the Squire was mentioned in the letter as well. Could he have anything to do with the events going on here? Despite Rock's attempts to not dwell on the matter, his curiosity always seemed to outshine his close-mindedness.

AppleJack made a noise from her tent.

"No..no...no....no!!..." AppleJack screamed.

Pheonix spoke "it's okay. She's having nightmares." "They will pass." He added.

 

The Orb make a faint glow. Then it vanished.

 

Scootaloo fell asleep laying next to Rock.

"She has a liking for you." Pheonix said.

Looking at the tent with concern, Rock worried if Applejack was alright. He shrugged the feeling off.

 

"Yeah" He replied "I'm the eldest of four siblings, I've had experience with kids"

He extends a wing and covers Scootaloo with it, acting like a feathery blanket.

 

"Do you have any family? Still alive I mean" Rock asked

"Only my father, I haven't heard from him ever since I was 10. When we were.. Tourchered." Pheonix said, then shaking his head from the memorie. "I had a mother, but she was slaughtered. My sisters dead." Pheonix said.

 

There was a noise from AppleJacks tent. It sounded revolting. "I might be disgusted now." Pheonix said.

 

"I was blowing my nose." AppleJack said.

 

"Oh...sure you were!" Pheonix said.

Pheonix rolled to his side. "We'll I'm going to go back to bed." Pheonix said. And he closed his eyes.

 

The fire started to get dim quickly. The fog strengthened. The wind started to get louder slightly. Conversations started to be become quiet with some of them. AppleJack still was having nightmares.

Another yawn escaped Rock's mouth. He stared sheepishly at the fire. As it started to dim, so did his energy. He hasn't felt this close to ponies in years.

'I think I might actually be making friends here' he thought to himself 'And a possible romance'

Where did that thought come from? Rock shook his head "Damn hormones"

 

He checked on Scootaloo, then got into a comfortable resting position. It wasn't long before he fell asleep.

- The Wall -

The air is thick, and the fog is low. The night is late.

 

"So, What does the Guard say?" Francis asked.

"The Guard have many complaints my lord."

Jean said.

 

"I can understand." Francis Replied. Francis continued. "Did we get word from Pheonix yet?"

"No my lord, we have not." Jean said.

"I sent one of our best Guards with a citizen." Francis said.

"And we haven't heard back. This fears me." Francis added.

"Should we send out a garrison?" Jean asked.

"No, we'll give them one more day." Francis said.

"How long do we have until the storm?" Francis asked.

"My calculations are invalid my Lord." Jean said.

"I do not hold the answer my Lord." Jean said.

 

Francis and Jean were still walking on the wall.

"It's quiet..." Francis said. Holding his sword tighter.

"I thinks it's alright my Lord." Jean said.

"There's no reason to worry, Francis." Jean said.

"But I have my reasons to worry." Francis said.

 

A orb started to approach them. "The Captain of the Guard...Is dead.." The orb continued. "Your Luetinant Sarah Levings...is dead."

Francis fell to his knees.."No.." He closed his eyes. He's cape fluttered in the wind. Francis didn't move.

-The Camp-

Rock woke up from a nightmare. He shot up, alert, then calmed himself back down again. He rubbed his eyes and looked at the early morning sky.

"No point in going back to sleep now" he shrugged

 

He checked to see if he woke anyone up. Nope. He then stretched out his wings and took off into the air. After flying high enough, he spotted a river near the campsite. He flew over and landed by it. He set his saddlebag on a nearby rock and proceeded to wash himself. Along with some horrible, amateur singing.

(Sorry been on vacation) HeartSong struggled to try and get Pheonix away, she was still very irritated that the other mare kissed Pheonix. "Pheonix you dummy you should've just let them kill me, it might've stopped this" and then she used her unicorn magic to try and stop the bleeding... "Trixie do something!!!" She yelled he continued to bleed "don't die in me Pheonix"

- The Wall -

"Sir." Gavin said.

Francis looked up to see his Corporal. Gavin had black armor on but his chest piece had a trapezoid being eaten by a serpent.

"The Squire had me come ask you if we had any news from Sarah." Gavin said standing tall and at salute.

"Sarah is dead." Francis said with his head looking to the right.

Gavin paused for a minute. "But.." Gavin started.

"I know she is the Squire's daughter." Francis said in despite.

"Are you going to tell him?" Asked Gavin.

"No." Francis replied. "He sent her out for Equestria's will." He added.

"He will be heart broken! Don't you care Fran-"

"OF COURSE, I LOVED HER!" Francis yelled.

"You used to LOVE HER FRANCIS!" Gavin yelled.

 

"You know better then anyone WHY she wouldn't leave the Stronghold." Francis debated.

"That's besides the point!!" Gavin yelled.

 

Gavin sat down and put his hoof on his face.

"Look..." Gavin started. "He has to know! Rambling on about what's in the past is not what the Guard agreed on. One dies we move on." Gavin debated.

"The Squire is the one running the Fort while Pheonix is gone. We tell him that his daughter is dead. He'll loose his mind." Francis said looking at Gavin.

"I promise you that." Francis added.

 

Gavin looks up.

"Do we wait then?" Gavin asked.

"Yes." Francis answered.

 

"The suns up, and my watch has come to an end." Gavin stated.

"I'm going to bed. You need to tell him." Gavin added.

 

As Gavin walked off, Francis put his hoof against his chest. He loved Sarah more then anything. But she didn't love him. And now she's gone.

 

Francis started to cry, but he stopped himself.

The clock tower suggested the time was now.

[ Time: 8:05AM ]

Jean was walking up a nearby stairway walking towards Francis.

 

"My lord." Jean said handing him something in his hoof.

 

Francis looked at his hoof and noticed a letter.

"Thank-you Jean." Francis replied.

Mhmm Jean bowed. "By your lead." Jean said as he walked back down the stairs.

 

Francis opened the Letter.

Dear Francis,

 

You have not heard from Pheonix yet. This was planned, he will be returning today. You are ordered to kill him. If you do not comply I will finish off the Leving Family. For good this time. No one in Equestria is going to stop the plans for the Storm. Sarah did her job, and now it's time you listen to Me. if you don't I will kill you.

Rock took to the skies once more. He would have loved to spend more time relaxing by the lake, however the noises he heard in the distance put him off. Flying proved to be a good way to dry himself off.

Once he was no longer wet, he landed back at the campsite.

Pheonix woke up. He noticed that Rock was gone. Hmm.. AppleJack arose from her tent. "Good Morning sugarcube!" As she stretched. Scootaloo's ears raised. "Good Morning!" She said yawning. Trixie was in her tent. "Not yet!!!" She complained. AppleJack frowned and went into her tent. There was a bunch of rustling noises. Trixie gets thrown out of the tent. "Ugh!!" Trixie complained. "You need to get up." AppleJack said.

 

Pheonix walked over and tapped on HeartSong. Pst.. he whispered. "You need to get up. We're going back to the Fort." He said softly.

 

Rock fly's into the camp. His mane is still wet. AppleJack looke over and saw him and smiled.

Trixie rolled her eyes.

 

Pheonix was putting his things together. Scootaloo was picking up a pale of water and put some of it on the fire pit.

 

"You sure you won't come back with us to the Fort?" Pheonix asked. "You'd be safe." He continued.

 

AppleJack looked at Rock, then back at Pheonix. "I can't." AppleJack said. "I got to move on." AppleJack added. When Scootaloo heard AppleJack say they weren't going to the Fort she started to cry a little bit. Then she shook her head in agreement.

 

"I'll be going to the Fort with you. I need to see the Squire." Trixie said.

Rock looked at Trixie "Why do you need to see the squire?" He enquired

 

He remembered the letter. It said she was an assassin. Rock didn't want to come off as if he knew too much, so he kept the question basic.

Trixie looked at Rock "I need to tell him about his daughter." Trixie said.

"It's my job to turn in reports of death to the Squire." Trixie added.

 

Pheonix bent over by HeartSong. He kissed her cheek. And whispered "We need to get going, wake up."

 

Pheonix looked at everyone else awake. "Come on HeartSong." He whispered.

'It's really none of your business' an old voice in Rock's head told him 'Sticking your nose in people's affairs will just land you in trouble'

 

A strong part of him agreed with that, it's how he always was, but his recent adventure made him open up to new people and he actually found comfort in it.

He shook his head, there was time for this when they get back. Right now, Rock remembered the reason he came here in the first place.

 

"Phoenix if you got a moment, I'd like to talk about the medical situation at our base"

Pheonix looked at Rock. "I have a minute now. Whats the problem?" Pheonix asked. Pheonix walked in a direction and motioned Rock to walk with him for a minute. He looked at HeartSong. and sighed. Pheonix was hoping that HeartSong will wake up soon enough.

Pheonix thought for a second. "There's a colt in the Stronghold. We never found his parents so he works for us in the Fort. We've had no use for him lately." Pheonix said.

 

"His name is Dave. You can simply just ask him to follow you." Pheonix said. Pheonix walked further than Rock had and he stood in front of Rock. "You'll need confirmation from the Squire." Pheonix added. "He deals with citizen situations." Pheonix said. "And...well has to put his insignia on the papers for release." Pheonix didn't have a reassuring look. "Most likely he'll be given to you. Once he's your possession he's life is in your hands." Pheonix said.

Rock lowered his voice to barely a whisper "Is he a slave?" He cringed "I may be old fashioned but... not that old fashioned!"

 

It seemed that Rock would end up baby-sitting someone yet again. Just his luck. Ever since the first step he set outside the fort, he's had nothing but responsibility to deal with.

"His cousin was one of my Luetinant's his name is Francis." Pheonix looked at Rock. This Stallion can't be happy can he? he thought. Pheonix sighed.

 

"My point being. We don't have slaves." Pheonix stated.

Pheonix looke past Rock in Trixie's direction. Hmm... Pheonix thought to himself. I don't get this..

Rock was hoping he would avoid this, but it looks like his hand was being forced. He hated lying, especially with the current situation at hand.

 

"Well..." Rock started "We just met her. I know she helped in the battle, but that just shows how dangerous she is. I find it quite suspicious that she suddenly wants to come back with us to the fort"

 

'I think I managed to avoid lying...' Rock thought to himself 'Although, that wasn't as good a reason as the letter'

Pheonix looked at him like he was just hit by a train. "That's a very weird reason. You sure there isn't any other way? I wanted AppleJack and her two friends to come to the Fort of Bavik. We need to keep pony's alive. It's honestly the best place for them. Only Trixie agreed to go." Pheonix said.

 

"So I have no other option then let it happen." Pheonix stated.
