Grand continued to read, getting tired from starin at these long complex spells and myths."how in equestria could someone read these all day" she said blandly, she flipped the page, looking at the book with bored eyes. "Its never ending!" she huffed, reading through the pages

Stephan looked at Missy. "Wait, didn't I give you the sixth one?" Stephan asked. "Check over the books again."

Stephan then looked at Fire. "Fine, I guess." He responded in a weak tone. "I'm just ready to get off of this island and go home. I love adventure, but after this, I'll need a break... a LONG break." Stephan laughed a little and sighed. "I just feel a bit down."

"I read all the time, you should just see all the books in the Ponyville Library, i mean....my home, what used to be my home." Missy said and sighed. "I think i already told you this, but my parents left me when i was young and i was taken in by a kind-hearted old donkey. But after he died, i was lost and without a home, Twilight took me in and taught me everything she knew and basically became like my mother. I miss her, Celestia knows i miss her."

 

Fire moved a bit closer to Stephan, out of hearing range of Zeta. "I know you had feelings for Grand, and it seems something's starting between Zeta and her, how do you feel, that's what i mean. Sometimes it's better to tell someone about what's troubling you, i can tell something is."

Stephan sighed and took Fire to a distance where Zeta or Grand couldn't hear them. "I feel a little betrayed by Zeta. He's one of the ponies who told me not to give up on after our mission is done, and then he goes and kisses her." He did a little kick to the ground. "I don't know what to do, Fire. I've never had a mare friend, nor do I know anything about having one. I've been too busy with adventuring and such to be dealing with such things. But, to be honest, I don't think I'll ever find a mare like Grand again."

"I told you about how me and Missy met, we met at the Grand Galloping Gala, then we met again in Ponyville a month later." Fire Horn said. "What I mean is, love has a funny little way of figuring itself out in the end, had it not been for Twilight's intervention, we wouldn't be together. You'll find somepony, as I say, there's a mare for every stallion."

Zeta had made quite a mess of books behind him, checking if they were good or not before throwing them aside to look for another. Eventually, he had uncovered another one of Starswirl's books, but had forgotten what to do with it so he brought it over to Missy to look.

"Hey Missy. I don't really remember what we were supposed to do here, but I found another one that would be of good use."

Stephan sighed and continued to search through the books. "Even for some sort of crossbreed like me?" Stephan asked. "I shouldn't even be feeling this way. I've always been that guy who was too busy with his duties and adventures to worry about love." He said. "But, now that I do feel this way, it's an undeniable feeling. I mean, after this, I want to keep having adventures, but I also want that special somepony to come back to after every one of them."

"Come on, who doesn't love a human? Well, i can tell you right now, you're not going to get anywhere with a mare with that attitude." Fire then paused to think. "I think Rainbow Dash is available if you're into her at all. You've got adventurous on the outside and caring and fun on the inside."

"Maybe, Fire, but probably not." Stephan said. "I've known Rainbow Dash for a long time, actually. We're good friends, and we sometimes used to adventure together. But, we're also very competitive with each other, for reasons you could probably guess." Stephan said, moving his feet in place at high speeds. "We'd probably be at each other's throats way too much." Stephan remembered the races him and RD used to have. "In fact, I wonder where she is now..."

((OOC: I planned on having RD meet up with Stephan around the end, if that's okay.))

"I've heard that the bearers of the elements of harmony were moved to the Griffon Kingdoms, it's apparently a lot safer up there than anywhere else. I'm actually quite good friends with Pinkie Pie, in fact believe it or not, me and Pinkie actually went out for a couple of years, much to my mother's disapproval for dating a "Ponyville Ruffian" as she put it..........me and my mum didn't talk much."

He nodded, looking up to the large board before turning back to Missy. "That sounds about easy enough really. It's just boring on occasion since this takes quite a while, but even so we're here to get this cure, which means that for how long we take it's still worth going for."

Afterward, Zeta turned around and went back to the bookshelf he was searching for and continued to pull off more books to look for.

Ink found another book placed on the fifth shelf and it seemed to be misplaced; and luckily it has the same seal symbol like the one on the fifth square, "Alright, let's see here, 105, 12, 34, 10." Ink skimmed across the first hundred pages and stopped at page 105, he counted furthermore, and found the word 'enough', "Fifth word, 'enough'; so we have, 'Small water; it's not enough blank blank water, blank blank flood."

"Four more!" Ink closed the book and put it back to the shelf where he found it, "C'mon, we're getting somewhere."

Grand slammed her face into a book. "I'm so bored, this is the lamest challenge ever" she said, her face muffled from the book. "These are the strangest challenges and riddles I've ever heard of" she said, her eyes drooping tiredly as she forced herself to keep reading. "I think I found another one though,"

"Star Swirl must've wanted to bore the challengers to death until they left the shrine." He snickered. "But, look on the bright side, Grand; we're nearly done. All we have to do it find these books, put the words together, and then, bam. We're in the inner sanctum." He said, showing boredom in his voice.

Grand sat up straight. " no, but thank you for offering. We have inky a few words left and we are done" she yawned, grabbing the next book in the pile. "I just hope there's a snack break or something in the next room" she said in a joking tone, though it would be nice. "The next room will at least be more interesting"

"I might try to convince Missy to take a little break before starting. It's starting to get to my eyes as well, just looking at these books are pretty bad." He pointed to the bookshelf, which all of it was half empty with a pile behind it. "Anyway, i'll get back to looking for more. You take care of your eyes, okay?"

Stephan looked through the books and found another one with Star Swirl's handwriting. He looked through it and found a sentence that just looked out of place. He looked over the sentence and closed the book. He then brought it over to Missy. "Page three, paragraph four." He told her.

"Thank you, Stephan, let's just put these all next to each other." Missy said. "The last time i was this deep in books was....yeah, that was a while ago." Missy looked through all the books they had found.

 

Small water it's not enough too water will flood.

 

"Hey, I think we only need two more books, keep searching, guys." Missy shouted.

After searching for a while Stephan found two more dusty covered books. Again, it had Star Swirls handwriting in both books, so they must contain words. Stephan looked through both of them and examined them. "The words are "much" and "it."" Stephan called to Missy.

Those two words; much and it, fell upon Ink's ears and caused him to fill up with joy, "Oh! You! Stephan, HUMAN! The most brilliant thing I have ever met." Ink said yelling out to Stephan, "Much and it... and finally we have one full sentence that will be the riddle."

Ink dashed across the room, passed the ponies and Stephan there, he looked up to the empty squares and he spoke the sentence, "Small water; it's not enough, too much water, it will flood..." his words echoed around the room and a loud hiss was heard, each and every squares on the wall emitted a bright ray of light. So bright that it hid the squares behind the light, and moments later, the light and hiss ceased, then the riddle appeared in letters and glyphs.

"Missy..." Ink said, knowing that this was the final phase before they make their final act, "Do it, what does it mean?"

For one last time, Missy's mind was opened up, she could see the riddle for what it was. The answer was clear now.

 

"Balance is harmony, balance is chaos. One can't be, without the other."

 

Missy waited after saying that, her mind became clear again.

"OK, open sesame!" Missy yelled.
