Grand stood up slowly, excited and nervous to see what was on the other side of the wall. "Thank celestia we finished, I hope this next room will be quick and painless" she said, shaking off the sleepiness. She stretched from sitting down sibling and waited as the door slowly began to move

Zeta was surprised by the easy words spoken by Missy. But even so, it worked and the door started to slowly move open. He started to move around, excited and all with a nice smile and hugged Grand. "Oh man, this is great! This room was boring as ever, and we're just about to save the world as we know it. Arent you happy as well?"

Stephan shrugs and smirks. "Nah. I'm the guy that never thinks before acting. I can't be THAT smart." He said in a cocky tone.

Stephan gets up and takes out the device. "There it is. The inner sanctum." Before going in, Stephan saw exactly what he was expecting; the mech. If he were to plug the device into the head of it, the device would reprogram it and give the data of the shrine to him.

Ink hesitated to go in, his mind - his memory - was slowly recovering, the things he saw in the past which he had chosen to forget had but come back to his mind. Echoing inside the cavities of his brain, the corpses of dozens of Ancient Heter ponies, pilling up at the door trying to escape what the group was trying to cure, "It's alive..." his whole body became stiff, his eyes did not blink at all,

 

"The Shrine is alive... someday it will unleash something, the Heters have tried to stop it, but they failed, they only stalled it... you can't, and the humans... they have done something to the machine, so they could take this world back for them to conquer. You saw them... you saw him... you saw everything... now forget it all."

 

His subconscious-self was screaming out to him and all he could say was, "Greed..."

Grand looked in disgust at the bodies on the floor. "This certainly wasn't what I was.... Expecting" she said, trying to look somewhere else but the bodies were everywhere. " perhaps we should hurry in this room, these bodies are making me feel... Uncomfortable" she said, her eyes settling on the cieling

"Uncomfortable?" He replied back, looking at all the bodies and shuddered. "Wow I never realized that actually. We should start to make our way inside now, seeing that this should be done and over with."

He started walking towards the room, entering and looked around at the different things compared to the rest of the rooms. It looked a lot cleaner, and much more higher tech then what he's ever seen before.

Stephan walked into the room. Bodies of dead ponies covered the room. Their blood seemed to have stained the steel of the giant mech. "This hunk of junk must've killed any pony that came in here. Since ponies weren't treated like humans were, they weren't welcome inside the shrine. Therefore, the mech destroyed any pony that were to enter."

Missy walked in with Fire in tow, the bodies on the ground were disturbing, it was the most horrific thing she had ever seen, well, second most horrific thing.

"These ponies look like they're trying to escape something, but....what were they trying to escape?"

((No giant mechs, no security system of any sort, the Heters died of the virus -- proto-virus to be exact, so they are very dead indeed.)) 

 

Ink snapped back to reality, he knew what to do hence he took out the ancient stone from his satchel which turned out to be a lever to open up the gate that will ultimately led the group to the inner sanctum or the Core.

Ink walked it slowly; full of doubt, fear, and hesitant, he concealed the ancient stone lever piece behind his satchel so no pony could see it. He stayed behind of the group, and safely inside his mind he repeated again and again, "You can't let them die, you can't make them do the final act..." His eyes then aimed towards Fire Horn and called out his name, "Fire Horn." 

Ink walked up towards him and whispered to Fire Horn, "Do you love Missy? Do you love this new family of yours?" he whispered quietly, "Then I'm asking you; two for the rest"

"Of course I do, I love her, she's been the one thing in my life that's been constant, my parents never displayed much affection towards me....so when i met Missy, I felt loved, so, yes, I absolutely love her." Fire whispered back, but then looked over at Stephan with the device. "We can't let him put that thing in there. It would mean certain death for all of us."

"Then take it from him, I'll wait for you by the entrance..." Ink whispered back, he slowly took out the lever piece in front of Fire Horn but the group still couldn't see it, since Fire Horn was standing in the way, "It's not a fixed point of destiny, Missy's fate and the others aren't sealed. So are you with me?" Ink asked Fire Horn one more time, just to make sure.

Grand walked around and examined the room. " do you remember what the next step is ink drop? I don't see any clear riddles or patterns anywhere" she said, trying to avoid looking at the corpses as much as she could. " I'm ready to just go home, I hope this wont take us too long"

Stephan looked at the device and typed a code onto it. The code was meant to reprogram the machine Diane told him about. He then walked to Fire and Ink. "Do you guys have any clue as to where we need to put this thing?" Stephan asked the stallions.

"Stephan, give the device to me! I need to look at it for a moment!" Fire said, pulling the device out of his grasp.
"Fire, what in Equestria are you doing?" Missy yelled, very distressed. "We need to finish this, put it into the machine and get on with it." Fire Horn looked at Ink and nodded.

"I can't do that, Missy." Fire said.

"Why not?" Missy asked. Fire didn't answer as he walked away with the device.

Ink looked at the group before he did what he had to do and said softly, "I'm sorry..."

Without hesitating, Ink pulled down the lever as soon as he attached it to one of the two lever sockets thus opening up a trap door under the group, letting them to a new path and an exit. Ink closed it up quickly and placed the lever piece on the other socket, opening up the gate to the inner sanctum, "Let's go, Fire Horn."

Stephan had a puzzled, yet mad look on his face. "Fire, what are you doing? Give me the device. We need to plug it in so we can stop this!" He exclaimed to him. "And, why can't you plug it into the machine? What could possibly go wrong?" He asked him in an impatient tone.

Before falling, Stephan grabbed on to the ledge with his two free hands and tried pulling himself up. "You traitors!"

Grand shrieked as she plummeted to the room below. She landed with a thud, and she was a bit dazed. "Fire? Ink drop? What is the meaning if this! Don't you dare do anything dangerous" she said in a panicked voice, looking up from the room they were in. She had no idea what would be happening to thrm

Fire noticed Stephan trying to grab on to the edge.
"Stephan, i'm sorry, you'll have to just forgive me for this." Fire said, stepping on his fingers and sending him downwards with the others, the trap door closed, Fire had a sad expression on his face. "I hope whatever we do here is worth it, Ink."

"Fire!" Missy yelled before dropping down through the trap door. "Fire! What are you doing?!" Missy yelled up before seeing Stephan fall by Fire's hooves. Missy began to tear up, wondering what was happening to him.
"It's Ink Drop, I should have known this was coming, stupid writers, always trying to take the glory for thmselves, selfish bastard!" She ranted. "He's corrupted Fire's mind, with his evil writer's....Grrrr!" Missy yelled, stomping her hooves on the ground.

The hardness of the hoof made Stephan's hand crack in an unhealthy matter, as he plummeted to the bottom. Fortunately for him, he landed on his feet, causing little internal damage. "That was so not cool!" Stephan exclaimed. "We come all this way, we went through hell... and it all ended in us getting trapped under a floor."

As they were inside the inner sanctum, the very Core of the Shrine itself, human and Heter corpses were lying around the stone floor, it looked like that they were putting up a fight against each other. Looking around the Shrine, Ink knew where to put the device, "That pedestal, right there at the center." Ink pointed out for Fire Horn, "Diane said that she will take everything from there, but I don't think it's that simple."

"That was so not cool!" Stephan exclaimed. "We come all this way, we went through hell... and it all ended in us getting trapped under a floor."

Zeta unfortunately tumbled down and landed on the floor with his back taking most of the damage. It hurt a lot, but he managed to get back up and walk it off shortly. "Damnit, whoever did that next time tell me before you throw me down this hole! I really would appreciate it to land properly then on my back."

All the anger faded from Missy, replaced only with sadness, she sat down ,closed her eyes and lowered her head, with no obvious escape route, they were trapped, Fire had betrayed them all. She didn't know how else to react to the situation.

 

"It's very extravagant." Fire said. "...and I just put it in this pedestal right here."

Fortunately, Stephan saw a light that led back out. "We can't let them undergo this! We need to get back in there and stop them!" Stephan said, unaware of what they were about to do. "I haven't come this far to fail now. We're going to do this and we're going to save Equestria."

"Now before we go jumping to conclusions lets take a minute to think, alright? I don't think they would do this to spite us, it must be something else" she said calmly. "I'm more worried that they volunteered for something that won't result in winning a prize" she said, looking up. "I have faith they are doing something for the betterment if the group, I just hope they are going to be alright"

"What's the point anymore, Stephan." Missy said, saddened. "If we escape, what good will that do?" Grand said something, Missy pricked her ears up and decided to take the initiative. "You know what.  Just because i want to take revenge on that snobby little nut-case, let#s get back up there and I'll beat him up." Missy ran towards the light.
