Stephan only sighed to Starburst.

"Son, over the years, I've accepted an unavoidable fact; we all eventually die." Stephan said. "I told myself that I'd give up adventuring at my age... but I can't. I need to live my life to the fullest extent. Which is why I'm going on one more adventure, the be all end all."

 

"Oh, not much." Cloud said. "What's wrong with you, pal? You seem sad."

"But you can't leave me, not now, especially now." Starburst said, then taking his hoof off of Stephan. "You know what? Leave, just leave, we're better off apart." Starburst levitated Missy onto his back, he was about to cry but he stopped himself. "So much for loyalty." Starburst left the house on his way to the hospital.

 

Sky didn't lose her sad expression.

"I don't want to talk about it." She said, simply sighing.

Stephan stopped Starburst in his tracks.

"I'm sorry, Starburst, but I need to leave for awhile." Stephan said to him. "Like I said, I accepted the unavoidable fate of aging and death. I need to live what I have left of my life." He said to him. He was saddened over Missy's death as well.He lost three friends over the course of the past two decades. He only have Moon left to lose. Then, he'd be next.

Rainbow Dash was back to her old job as a weather pony, it had been a while since she had done it, so she was a little out of practice. She had been working ever since Stephan had left.

 

Starburst had almost reached the hospital when he realised something, the body of an alicorn was a rare thing in Equestria, so he couldn't just leave her to rot, so he had a plan.

Realizing Stephan was being ignored, he walked outside and into the warm Spring weather. He then saw Rainbow Dash clearing the clouds from the sky, which brought a small smile to his face. But, even that couldn't fix the overwhelming loss he experienced. He lied down under the tree and watched Dash clear the clouds.

Dash had cleared most of the clouds by the time she noticed Stephan laying under a tree, near to her, so she flew down to him and gave him a small kiss on the cheek.

"Hey there, I'm just practicing, still haven't gotten to my fastest speed yet, I bet I....." Dash began but she noticed he was feeling a bit down. "Stephan, what happened?"

Stephan raised his head to Rainbow Dash.

"It's Missy..." Stephan began in a sad tone. "She... passed away." Stephan said to her. "Now, I've lost three of my friends. First Zeta, then Fire, and now Missy, who helped us get your flying back. My friends are all dropping like flies, and there's nothing I can do about it."

Dash put a hoof to her mouth.

"Oh, that's terrible, I'd heard she was in bad condition, but nothing like that." Dash said. "I'm so sorry Stephan, I can't imagine how it's going to be on Twilight, she raised Missy since she was just a little filly, and to see her die before her." Dash turned around. "I've got more work to do, but we'll talk later, okay?"

Stephan nodded to Dash. 

"I just need some time to myself." He told her. "I'll see you later." Stephan jetted away from Dash and left her to her work, going to the outskirts of Ponyville. He came up to a tall hill and climbed to the top. From there, he got a clear view of all of Equestria.

"There's adventure out there." He said to himself.

Moon was gonna head out with Starburst, but after hearing the conversation between him and Stephan... She suddenly became unsure of everything. It took her some time to process what was going on, and by then he was already gone. So instead, she followed behind Stephan.

 

After watching the chat with Rainbow Dash, she walked over and smiled, giving a nudge. "Hey... I know you want to be alone and all, but.. I think I know one pony who's really into adventure, like you. Any time you go on one, you always need somepony to keep you backup, and I heard she was in town today."

Stephan turned his head to Moon. 

"And who could "She" possibly be?" Stephan asked with a depressed expression across his face. Nothing could get him over the loss. He could only hope to live his life to the fullest. At least, for what he has left.

Moon gave a smile, bending down to come to eye level with Stephan. "Have you really forgotten about your daughter already~?"

 

Sirius was in town, looking around a bit. She had trust in her four children going back up to Cloudsdale without any fault, and she had her husband to watch them as well. The pony just looked around, seeing if there was anything neat to do. "Hm.. Maybe I could go for some food? I don't know, heh.."

Starburst had gone to a temple of some kind, deep under the ground, abandoned for centuries where nopony would come looking, he set Missy in one of the rooms, with a stasis spell and locked her away.

 

Dash had finished clearing up the sky, it was a glorious sunny day, she flew to the hill where Stephan stood.

"I heard the word adventure, so naturally, I was drawn to it." Dash grinned awkwardly.

"I don't think so, Moon. I'm not about to put my daughter in danger just for the sake of me feeling young again." Stephan said. He couldn't let her daughter come. Too dangerous. He then heard Rainbow Dash fly down next to him. "Dash, I'm going to go adventuring one last time. I may be getting older, but I think I've still got some juice left."

Moon sighed, but looked to Stephan with a smile. "Sirius is excellent at magic, Stephan. She can easily defend for herself with you. And besides, do you know how long she's been wanting to go on an adventure with her father? It's practically driven her up a wall from how much she wants to.."

Dash smirked and nudged Stephan.

"Well... if you're going on some crazy adventure, you'd better not do it without me." Dash said. "Because you know how much I love adventure, anyway, you can't stop me from coming, I am your wife and as such, I can order you to do things." Dash smirked a little, trying not to laugh.

"Heh. Not this guy." Stephan said, smirking back. "I'm still cocky and free-spirited, just not as much as I used to. I take orders from nopony." he then turned to Moon and sighed. "Alright, Moon. If she can take care of herself, she can come along. I just you know what you're talking about, because I don't want to come along and end up getting herself into a bad position."

"I understand Stephan, and it's your job to take care of your daughter." Moon hugged him and smiled. "Siri's in town. When you're ready, go ahead and look for her. I believe she's out in the middle, by the town square is. Hurry though, she might be gone and you don't even know it!"

"Alright, I'm going back home, I'll meet you in the town square, okay?" Dash began flying away back to their house, she got there and reached into a little chest, she pulled out a hat and put it on her head. "Oh yeah, just like old times." She said, kind of pleased about going back out to adventure.

Stephan nodded to Dash and Moon and began running towards the town square. Finally. He was going back to his roots.The world seemed as if it was flying right below his hooves, even though he was old and a tad bit slower. It was harder for him to reach mach speeds now. He continued his way to the square, hoping Siri was there.

Sirius was just sitting by the town square, watching everypony go along everywhere. Her kids were on her mind, and Switchback too, who was still at their house in Cloudsdale. He was sick from pony pox, and it was a bad case. "Mnn.. I hope Greenie is doing well with Switch.. Heck, I wonder how mom is doing."

Dash flew back out of the house, all geared up for the quest ahead, she wondered what they'd do, go exploring new and uncharted lands, defend a town from a dragon, create a new type of plant, something along those lines. She landed down in the town square, finding Sirius.

"Hey kiddo, it's been a while, and you've grown up quite a bit haven't you?" Dash said.

Stephan made it to the town square, skidding to a halt when he reached Sirius. He then saw that Dash was already there.

"Oh, um, i just grabbed a small cup of coffee. That's why I was so slow getting her." Stephan said, trying not to make him sound slow. "Hi, Siri. It's been awhile."

Sirius heard her name and looked around a bit, till he met eyes with Stephan. Immediately her jaw dropped. "D-Daddy..?"

She then ran over and gave her dad a big hug, almost on the verge of crying right there. "Daddy.. Where have you been..? Why did you leave me without saying anything..?"

After giving a nice hug to him, she looked over to Rainbow, giving a smile. "And hey, best friend... Wow, both of you are here.."

"Actually, I should ask you the same thing; where have YOU been?" Stephan asked her, hugging his adopted daughter. "Doesn't matter. At least you're down her with us." He said to her, letting her go. "Anyways, you're mother said you wanted to adventure with your old man. Is that right?"
