Stephan turned his head. "Twenty-eight moons? That's nearly two years." He said, completely turning around to her. "I don't want to wait nearly two years just to see my family again. If you won't be able to bring me back for three months... so be it..." He said, lowering his head. He felt like he was disgracing the element of loyalty by doing this.

Caramel looked at Missy. "I dunno, Grand said something to him and he ran out of here as fast as he could" She said, wondering what her sister had said. "Hey, where did Stephan and Light get off to?"

 

Grand was still pacing. "Those two say theyre in love! After just a few days of knowing eachother!" She said to him. "If Starburst does anything to Caramel.. I cant do anything, that colt is one of the sweetest young stallions I know!" she said, exasperated.

He giggled a bit, signaling for Grand to come on the bed with her. "You would need to calm down a bit Grand, don't overdo yourself from your condition that you're in now. If you think about it, you just said Starburst was one of the sweetest young stallions you know, which would mean you have some trust in him to keep Caramel from any harm. Besides, it's worth a shot isn't it?"

Grand stopped pacing and thought for a moment. "Yes, I suppose youre right. I'll just have to trust that they will both be responsible in this relationship" She said as she sat next to Zeta.

 

Caramel thought for a moment. "Maybe we should go looking for him. He was in a pretty bad mood when he ran off, maybe he's gone ang gotten himself into trouble" She said aloud

Grand stopped pacing and thought for a moment. "Yes, I suppose youre right. I'll just have to trust that they will both be responsible in this relationship" She said as she sat next to Zeta.

 

Caramel thought for a moment. "Maybe we should go looking for him. He was in a pretty bad mood when he ran off, maybe he's gone ang gotten himself into trouble" She said aloud

"And trust me." Zeta said to Grand, wrapping an arm around her while nuzzling her face. "You'll know when something bad is going to happen, since I know you can pretty much see through your sister like x-ray vision. Now come on, go ahead and relax your body sweetie..~"

Starburst was in conflict with himself, he wanted to run, run as fast as he could, but he knew he couldn't, because he would be breaking a heart that very much loved him. So he turned round and went back to Ponyville. He sat in the town centre, near a fountain.

"Twenty eight moons is nights, it would be a month you'd have to wait, but you would not be able to see your friends for three months, do you want me to tell them where you're going? Or have you and them fallen apart from each other?" Celestia raised her eyebrow.

Caramel decided to go out looking for the duo herself. as she was headed to the everfree forest, she ran into Starburst. "There you are, why did you run away like that? What did Grand say to you?" She said as she made her way towards him

 

Grand looked at Zeta with concern. "Zeta, youre the one who said we should stop this. I dont want to hurt anyone..." She said, unsure what to do

Stephan kept his head lowered. "I don't want to go back to them. Not after the stunt I pulled. However, I want to request that you send a letter to Grand Finale's house in Ponyville." Stephan quickly took out a piece of paper and a pencil from his knapsack. He wrote a quick letter for everypony and gave it to Celestia. "Please send that to them. That's all I ask of you."

Starburst turned to see Caramel, he walked over to her and the two met in the middle.

"Nothing important, Grand just doesn't want anything to happen to you that's all." Starburst said. "But then again, where would she get such an idea that I'd allow anything to harm you. I stood in front of an explosion for you, I offered myself up as a hostage so that no harm would come to you. I don't know why she'd think I would hurt you."

 

Celestia took the letter, then nodded at him. She charged a spell and opened the portal.

"Quick, go through the portal, it's unstable like this, it won't stay open much longer." Celestia said.

Caramel smiled. "well just think of it this way. When your little sister gets old enough, and some colt comes and knocks on her door, how would you react?" She asked as she hugged him. "She knows you wouldnt do anything to me, She just wants to protect me in avery way she can" She said with a warm smile

Caramel decided to go out looking for the duo herself. as she was headed to the everfree forest, she ran into Starburst. "There you are, why did you run away like that? What did Grand say to you?" She said as she made her way towards him

 

Grand looked at Zeta with concern. "Zeta, youre the one who said we should stop this. I dont want to hurt anyone..." She said, unsure what to do

In an instant, his smile had faded. "Wait... But, you were the one who wanted me back in the competition. You gave me a reason to live, Grand, which would mean that you completely ignored the fact that I even said that sentence. I know you don't want me gone, but you shouldn't have said it for that reason.."

Starburst laughed at Caramel's response.

"Alright, fair enough, I'd totally be the big brother in that scenario." Starburst said. "Send him to Tartarus if he let's any harm come to her." Starburst made shadow boxing gestures into the air then started laughing. "I totally understand."

Stephan smiled. "If you see 'em again, tell em I'll miss 'em." Stephan jumped through the mirror just before it closed. When he passed through, he was unconscious. But, he'd soon wake up in his home.

 

Light was beginning to worry about Stephan. He got up out of his chair. "Stephan's been out for a while. I'm gonna go look for him." He then walked outside and headed for the forest.

Grand looked at him. "Zeta, I love you. I do, and im sorry I never said it before, But I still have feelings for Stephan, and he would be absolutly crushed if I were to just give up on him. I dont want to hurt anyone Zeta, but its really hard to do when I'm put in a position like this" She said, frustrated, as tears were beginning to form in her eyes

 

Caramel laughed. "She didnt mean it, if anyone knows how loyal you are its her" She said with a smile. "Now, lets go look for Stephan, he left the house in such a bad mood, he could be in any sort of trouble"

Starburst sighed. "Yeah, we'd better go look for him, I think he ran into the EverFree Forest."

 

The portal closed and the mirror smashed. Luna, hearing the sound, came quickly in.

"'Tia, what did you do?" Luna asked.

"Something I should never have done." Celestia said and sent the letter to Grand.

Light met up with Starburst and Caramel. "So, I guess you two are out looking for Stephan as well?" He asked. "He might be a little tricky to find. The Everfree is a big place. He could be anywhere in that forest." The group began to enter the Everfree. It didn't really make sense, though. Stephan hated the Everfree. Why would he try to clear his mind here?

Eventually, he separated away from Grand, going to the other side of the bed and lied down. "I know, I know.. It's not all of your fault anyways, since it's both mine as well. I told Stephan I kept a promise then I broke it, and did it a few more times after that. Now I myself am put in a position where I cant do anything; a stalemate you might call it."

But from looking back, Zeta saw a few tears start to form and went back over to her, wiping them off before looking to her. "You said it was a challenge, and that's what you're going to get from both me and Stephan. I'm alright if you have feelings for him, but in the end you have to choose.."

Suddenly a letter seemed to appear in front of her from thin air. She picked it up and read it before bursting into tears. "He left, he left, he's gone" She said through sobs. "This is all my fault"

 

Caramel trudged behind Light warily. She kept her eyes peeled. "Im not a huge fan of the everfree forest either" She said in a grumble

"I've never been much of a fan of it myself to be honest, it's too dark, and scary, and there are creatures in here." Starburst said. "I hope we find him."

 

-Three Months Later-

 

Starburst was sitting with Caramel in the house, they were talking, that's all they did was talk.

"No....you cannot eat an entire box of popcorn in less than a minute, that's just not possible." Starburst said.

Zeta, a very rugged and depressed pony leaned across the hospital wall. He grew a beard that he didn't really take care of except in showers and waited at the door for Grand to come.

He looked at the clock from inside and sighed. "Ugh... A little late as always, Grand.."

After a few hours of constant searching, Light had given up. He assumed Stephan would be back eventually, so he went back to the house to wait.

 

-Three months later-

 

Light was still down about Stephan leaving. He should've known he'd go back at some point in time, but the least he could've done is tell him.

 

-On Earth.- 

Stephan was living on his own in an apartment in New York City. He reunited with his dad around the time he returned. Every now and again, he'd pull out a picture of him and the group and just... stare at it.

Caramel Corn looked at him smugly. "can too! As long as its my signature freshly popped sweet and salty popcorn, I can eat in a minute, easy!" She said with a look as if to say, challenge accepted

 

Grand on the other hand had not faired so well in the absence of Stephan. Her health had deteriorated rapidly, as she rarely ate, and she spent nearly all of her time working in the hospital. She had resolved to be completely selfless as to avoid ever hurting someone as she had thought she had hurt Stephan. As she walked into the hospital with barely any sleep, she simply smiled at zeta. "Good morning, shall we begin" She said in a voice that was artificial. though it sounded warm and sweet, there was something hollow and mechanical about it

She had resolved to be completely selfless as to avoid ever hurting someone as she had thought she had hurt Stephan. As she walked into the hospital with barely any sleep, she simply smiled at zeta. "Good morning, shall we begin" She said in a voice that was artificial. though it sounded warm and sweet, there was something hollow and mechanical about it

He nodded, opening the door to walk inside and held it open for Grand before shutting it once more. "I'm ready again." Zeta replied, his voice going back to the way it was before the outbreak. "Once again, not much going on. Just a few treatments and we're done, but there is something unusual about one patient that bothers me.."

"Well, that would be a sight to behold, I'll tell you that much." Starburst paused. "I think we should talk about Grand, you know how she's faring, she can't be allowed to go on like this, it''ll mess her up, not just physically but mentally."

 

Fire was in the town hall, organising searches, Fire was slightly stubbly. Worry had turned into fear, and fear had turned into anger, Fire hated Stephan with a burning passion. He just up and left and now nopony could find him.

 

Missy was in the library with Twilight, Missy had gotten significantly larger in the past three months.

"Ive tried, but everytime I bring it up she brushes it off and says something about how the other townsponies need more help than she does" she said, frustrated with her sister

 

"Grand smiled mechanically at him"well I suppose we should start with him then" She said as she walked into the hospital. "Hello sir, I'm doctor Finale, we are here to take care of you as best we can" She said in an overly cheery voice

Stephan walked over to his wall calender. It had been three months since he traveled back to Earth.
"Well, looks like it's about time for the princess to bring me back." He smiled as he drank a cup of coffee. He then walked outside and looked over the city. "I hope the others aren't too saddened by me leaving..." He thought to himself.
