"There's also a guy, goes by the name Mike, he is a mentalist, master of his craft....or so I'm told." Archer said.

"What the hell is a mentalist?" Stewart asked.

"A magician who performs feats that apparently demonstrate extraordinary mental powers, such as mind-reading." Archer said.

"Wow, sounds like something from Wikipedia." Stewart said.

Cara read the note and looked at Serena. "So, a magician hm? That's pretty cool"

 

Serena smiled. "Yeah, I get to go all over the world, but it can be pretty lonesome. I don't really have any permanent friends, just people I meet on the way"

 

Cara smiled. "Well it sounds really exciting. You seem pretty cool to me" she said, tossing the note aside.

 

"So, about before. Why are there assassins after you? That's pretty crazy" she said, whispering

 

"I'm not really sure I should say. I guess to put it vaguely, I'm involved with someone whose wanted"

 

Serena leaned on the table. "That's crazy! " she said, looking at her watch. "Oh, I have a show right away, umm here's my number! I'll call you when the show is over, we can hang out! Your pretty cool, I think we would make good friends" she said, giving her the phone number before leaving. Once she was out of sight she smiled, pulling out a different cell phone than the one she gave Cara the number to. She called someone and turned into an alley.

 

"Target is acquired, she'll lead me straight to him, I can just feel it" she said quietly, watching over her back before hanging up

Steven sighed "look you will need help for one Mike a mentalist is hunting and because of his unique abilities it will never easy, Steven pulled out a card that said Mr Thompson and a number and handed it to Cara "call if you need help okay I know watcher he changed my life and I will help him by helping you"

"I'm going to find Cara, make sure she is safe." Stewart said. "I'll be back soon. Keep the place warm for me, I'll be living here for a while." Stewart took out his phone and phoned Cara. "I knew I said I wouldn't talk to her, but I have to, I can't stay away from her, I just can't."

Cara felt happy to have found someone to talk to. Just then her phone went off. She answered it "oh, hi Stewart. I thought you told me not to contact you, for my safety or something" she said, happy he called anyway. She took another sip of her drink. "So what are you doing?'

"I'm sorry, I just can't seem to stay away from you. There's just something about you...." Stewart said. "Anyway, where are you? Are you with anyone? Are you safe?" Stewart asked, who knows she could be having a gun put to her head right now. "After all this is over, I want to ask you something."

Cara smiled at what Stewart had said. "I'm fine, I'm just at a coffee shop, having a drink. I'm safe, I promise" she said, sitting back in her chair. "What about you, are you alright?" She said seriously. "What are you gonna ask me? Well, I guess you'll tell me later, it was a dumb question"

Steven put the card down and sat done near Cara and and began making calls trying to Find out who the assassins where and anything he could, he planned to find Stewart and give him the information he had and talk to him and see if he would allow him to help

Stephan smiled and hugged Dash back. Though, while he was in the breakfast house, he closely examined the patrons. He took out the list of assassins, the same one that Stewart had. His eyes locked onto one guy

Stephan had to stay on his guard. For all he knew, that assassin could be here now.

"Say, Cara, do you want to go out sometime, have....uh......dinner or something?" Stewart asked. "I know it's not the best time, but I might as well live my life completely, seeing as how I might lose it soon." Stewart tried to joke.

Cara smiled. "Yeah, that would be fun. Just give me the time and place and I'll be there" she said happily, finishing off her coffee and throwing it out. "You didn't answer my question, are you alright?" She said, walking out of the coffee shop and tightening her scarf

Steven got up and followed Cara while using his phone to keep searching for Intel

Mike was in a street corner and seen Cara "young lady come over here and UK read you mind if I can't I'll give you one hundred dollars and if I can you get to be amazed how's that sound " Mike said

"Yes, I'm fine, I think the guy cracked some of my ribs but other than that I'm fine." Stewart said. "Meet me around the back of your apartment, you won't be able to miss me." Stewart hung up.

 

"Boss, did you just arrange a date with someone?" Archer asked.

"Yes, yes I did. Why? It's none of your business anyway." Stewart replied.

"Well, just be careful, just tell me when and where this date is and I'll have it bugged." Archer said, Stewart left through the window and glided down, he started on his way to Cara's place.

 

"Stephan, you look worried, and what's this list?" Dash asked, looking at it. "Oh, it's the...." She shut her mouth.

Stephan nodded sadly.

"Be on the lookout for this guy, Dash." Stephan handed her the list with Fuse circled in a red pen. "I'm going to keep an eye out for him here, since this is one of his favorite places. But, right now, let's just enjoy breakfast. If he turns out to be here, I want you and Sirius to go back to the apartment. I'll give you keys and I want you to lock the door."

Cara nodded "Okay, I'll see you in a bit" She said before hanging up. The man beside her had offered to read her mind. "I'm sorta busy right now, maybe another time" She said, turning the other direction. She thought for a moment, trying to remember where the closest subway system was

Stewart reached the apartment after a little bit of rooftop running. He sat down behind it.

"Cara, you're the best thing that's come into my life. I've finally found something worth protecting, someone I love, someone I hold close." Stewart said to himself.

 

"Alright." Dash took the picture and scanned the restaurant. "But he'll only know your outfit, not you."

Steven eyed the guy it was Mike the master mentalist "how about mine sir I'd love to see what you can do" Steven said

Cara turned to face the man. "Yeah, I was... You promise this wont take long? I really have to be on my way" She said, looking at him, her curiousity getting the better of her. " I guess I can give it a try. How much is this going to cost?" She said, walking a little closer

"Precisely. I'll get him from behind. He'll never see it coming." Stephan said, taking back the list. The waiter came to the table and Stephan stuffed the list into his pocket.

"Hi, welcome to the Manhattan Breakfast House. Are you ready to order?" He asked.

"Yeah, I'll have an egg and cheese omelet with some toast." The waiter then looked over to Dash.

"nothing my dear like I said if I do read your mind then you get to be amazed if I don't " Mike said as he pulled out a hundred dollar bill "you get this all you need to do is think of a name any name and I'll guess it" Mike smiled kindly

Steven hung back since Cara didn't know he was following her

Cara looked at him curiously, but she was still hesitant. She checked the time. "You know what, I'm really sorry. I'll be back later, I'm just running late" She said, turning away to head back to her apartment. "Next time, I'll stay" She said before walking away, in the direction of her house, figuring it should be close enough to walk to

"Um, I'll have the Pancakes and Syrup please." Dash said, smiling.

 

"Will she even want to go anywhere with me? Really? After what she saw me do, I killed a man right in front of her, thought I suppose that was to save her. And he did shoot me so..." Stewart was still talking to himself. "...Can she ever forgive me?"

"fine I'll give you a hundred dollars to just stay" Mike said "I look kid I'm trying to make a name for myself so I can support my family i got two kids please just stay and see then tell as many as you can about me is need this please" Mike said he looked like he was about to cry

Cara turned back to him. She felt bad for leaving. "Alright, alright I'll stay. keep the money, I dont need it" She said, walking back over to him. "Alright, so you want me to think of a name? any name at all?" She said, hoping Stewart would understand why she was late.

"I'll have it out in just a few moments." The waiter said, walking back to the kitchen. Stephan examined the place one more time, and he found the guy. He was pulling the old ordinary man gag he's seen on TV; the guy with a fedora, reading the newspaper, and drinking coffee. 

"Oh no." He said to himself.

"Play it cool, Stephan. Just act normal and he won't suspect a thing."
