Grand picked a dead end, but she heard Stephans cries close by. She turned into the al;ey next to the one she was in and saw him. She approached quietly. "Would you like to talk?" she said in a soothing tone. She stood next to him in silence. She didnt want to force anything from him.

Stephan slowly looked up at Grand. He still lied on the ground. "Appaloosa... dozens of innocent ponies... taken at my hooves. The thought of it just haunts me. I remember their faces. Their terrified faces." He looked at the now uncursed sword. "And... this made me do it."

Grand looked at him curiously. "Wasnt Appleoosa a ghost town when we were there? perhaps it was only the trotters. The sword could be getting its last ditch revenge on you. Its quite strange how so long after Zycrins death he still tortured us I suppos" she said, picking up the sword. It needed to be ridden of. Too many awful memories with it

Stephan slowly rose to his hooves and took the sword gently from Grand. "I'll take the sword. I'll take it somewhere where it won't be found. I'll take it and melt it, that way it won't be seen ever again by anypony's eyes." Stephan said boldly. He looked in his pocket and saw his mask. He slowly slipped it on. "Guess there's no time to rest in my life." He still had an upset tone of voice.

Grand pur her hoof on his shoulder. "Lets go back to Firehorns and finish dinner first. We could all use the nourishment." she said, gesturing to the house. "I assure you there will be time to fix this mess later. Right now we need to catch up. Its been far too long" she said, leading him back to the house. "If you need to leave, let me know and we can go together" she said smiling

Stephan got watery eyes and he smiled bigger than he ever did since he even found the group. "I'd like that very much, Grand Finale" The two began walking back to the house. The city of Canterlot shined like a casino in the night time. "You know, since I got here, I never really took a good look at this great kingdom. It's stunning."

Grand smiled. "ive lived here for eight years and only saw the castle this close up today." she said happily. "Im glad ive finally managed to come to the citys center." she opened the door to the house and took her seat as if nothing had happened. "Terribly sorry for my absence. I hope we didnt miss too much" said Grand as she began eating again

Stephan walked back to his seat and sat down. "I'm terribly sorry about that moment. I was just having... issues. But, don't worry. Nothing you need to worry about." Stephan went back to eating. He didn't feel like talking much, though. Not unless somepony asked him something. He just didn't want to have another incident.

"There's no problem at all, just as long as you guys are alright." Fire Horn smiled at Grand and Stephan.

"Just in case you guys want to stay here, there's an eztra room that no-one else is using." Missy said.

"I'm glad you are enjoying the food, i'm awful at cooking."

"Oh don't say that, Missy. You're cooking is wonderful." Stephan said assuringly. "And, I would love to stay here. I mean, I have no where else to go." Stephan chuckled a bit. "But, yes. If you'd let me stay here tonight, that'd be fantastic." Blast finished up his dinner and washed his plate himself, just to save Missy the trouble.

Missy nodded. "its quite good, thank you. I'll gladly stay the night" she said before washing her dishes and pushing her chair in. "I would offer to have a similar function at my house but I doubt it would fit all of us comfortably" she said laughing lightly. "thank you for dinner" she said politely.

"The pleasure is all mine, Grand Finale, now, Starburst will show you to your room." Missy gestured towards Starburst, who got out of his chair and lead them away. "Follow me." He said.

"Your friends are very nice ponies," Missy said.
"They've stuck with me, they're great friends, i don't tell them that often enough." Fire Horn said.

Grand followed Star tiredly. "my goodness I'm stuffed" she said, feeling her bloated stomach. "I havent eaten that much in ages" she yawned. Its wasnt late but Grand was exhausted. She wouldnt be able to make it home without passing out.

(Lol, Grand. Well, you said we needed time to rest. So, I guess that's what's happening.) Stephan followed Starburst and Grand to the room. The room itself looked very cozey and well decorated. "Huh. The things you can do when you have eight years to yourself." Stephan immidiately lounged on the bed.

(its probably not time for sleeping, but Grands tired, so she shall nap for a bit. I dunno, Is it nighttime? I have no idea)

 

Grand looked quizzically at the room for a second. "oh" she thought as she noticed just the one bed in the room. She was too tired to protest though, so she smiled at Starburst. "thank you. If you dont mind I might take a quick nap before returning to visiting. Im quite exhausted" she yawned

Starburst left the two to it and went to his own room, the day had been quite exhausting.

Missy and Fire Horn were done cleaning up, so all that was left was going to bed, that night, Missy slept, Fire Horn didn't, at all.

 

-Morning-

 

Missy awoke slowly from her slumber. Fire Horn was sitting up.
"Honey, what's wrong?" Missy asked.

"I'm worried, i guess. What if i don't find the answers i'm looking for in the library?" Fire asked. "I need to talk to Carrick, he knows more about the outbreak than i do."

Grand was fast asleep in bed. Her mechanical leg sat next to the bed as she curled up under the covers when the sun poked through the windows. Grand wasnt exactly great at waking up in the morning. she pulled the vlankets over her head and fell soundly asleep again

There was something at the front of their house. Something that was out of the ordinary in fact, but what was it?

Well, it had hooves, eyes, ears, a nose, a saddlebag with a gun, and a smile. The thing was relieved at what he saw when he got to Canterlot.

The only thing was, what happens if they don't accept him?

Since you know, he left everypony alone just for one that he cared about more. It was a selfish act indeed, but he tried not to let it get the best of him.

So without any hesitation, there was a knock at the door.

When Stephan woke up in the morning, it was fairly early. About 5:30 in the morning. He noticed that Grand was still sleeping, so silently left the room and left a note. He took the sword and ran out of the city of Canterlot to the nearest volcano.

Note: I'm taking the sword to a place where it can be melted. Don't come looking for me. I'll be back before sundown tonight.

Grand heard the knock at the door and groaned before strapping on her leg and shuffling downstairs. She opened the door tiredly, but immediately perked up at who was there, "Zeta? Is that really you? Oh my goodness I havent seen you in ages!" she said, hugging him and pulling him into the house. "I think everypony else is still sleeping but I'm sure ghost will be around. "she walked back upstairs and saw the note. she stamped her hoof. "damnit, shouldnt have gone out by himself!" she said angrily, but remembered Zeta. "terribly sorry. How have you been? I'm so glad to see you again!" she said, happy to see her friend after so long

Fire Horn's ears perked up at the sound of somepony entering the house, it seemed that Grand was excited.

"I'll go check it out, you stay here." Fire Horn said, shuffling out of bed, the sounds was coming from the spare room now.

"Zeta, is that you? It's been a while since we've seen you, how have you been?"

The beefy pony was surprised at who came to the door first. Zeta was greeted with a warm welcome that he had to smile, and walked in without resisting. He saw Fire Horn as well, and gave a little tip to him, eventually getting comfortable to answer. "I have been doing so bad for the past since I left you guys. Trottingham eventually collapsed within itself, since the leader had been eaten by a trotter. Everypony became separated from it all, and went their own ways after that. It's where I lost sight of the pony I loved, and haven't seen her again. Afterward, I just kept on traveling from different areas until I eventually caught sight of you guys. But it was only just recently so I decided to come here and pay my respects."

He nodded a head to both of them again, and looked down. "I'm sorry for leaving you all like that."

"Trust us, It was probably for the best. We didnt have much better of an experience. Im just glad your okay" she said happily. though she was still mad at Stephan for leaving by himself, she decided to enjoy visiting with Zeta. "im sorry you lost Lady. Im sure shes found somewhere to be safe.

"No need to apologize, it's all in the past now." Fire Horn said, they had things to do now.

"Starburst, come down here, i'm heading off to the library." In next to no time, Starburst had teleported downstairs, the two left.

Missy decided to leave the bedroom,, her mane was a mess, but she didn't know she had guests.

"I'd say the same too, but not talking to her for a while has gotten me down since. But I've managed to keep it away so I wouldn't get eaten by trotters just to guess if she was already gone or not... Aside from it, did you meet any new ponies? And who did you lose?"

Then Zeta turned toward Fire and nodded again."

"Thank you for that then. I appreciate somepony who keeps the present going instead of dwelling in the past."
