Esme gulped, he had obviously figured out why she was so on edge. "Um, yeah, sure... We could go somewhere to eat..." She seemed to calm down a little, relaxing her muscles and lowering her wings. "It doesn't really seem like there would be any restaurants around here, though..."

Dog Ears shrugged even though Esme still hadn't come out of the bathroom so she couldn't see him. He was preoccupied with getting bits when he realized Esme had said something. "Oh um... I'm sure there's a cafe somewhere." Dog Ears poked his head into the bathroom. "Are you coming out?" he asked a little nervously.

Blazing had no idea what to say next. He still couldn't believe what had just happened. He didn't want to seem strange, but he also didn't know what he was supposed to say at that point. I never actually prepared for this... What should I say now? He wondered.

'He is not saying anything, did I break him or something?' Charcoal thought. "Hey um, Blazing?" She says waving her hoof in front of his face. "You ok, is something wrong? Was it something I said?" *Sigh* 'Great, something bad had to happen now didn't it?' Charcoal thought while slightly upset.

"Huh? Oh, heheh, yeah, I'm coming." She turned around, her front facing towards the door. "So, where is this café?" Her face was happier now, and her mane was still all rumpled from sleep. "I guess I should brush my hair before we go out, huh?" She located her saddlebags and started searching through them, obviously looking for a brush. "Aw, crap, I didn't bring one! Grin, you don't happen to have a hair brush with you, do you?"

'He is not saying anything, did I break him or something?' Charcoal thought. "Hey um, Blazing?" She says waving her hoof in front of his face. "You ok, is something wrong? Was it something I said?" *Sigh* 'Great, something bad had to happen now didn't it?' Charcoal thought while slightly upset.

"No, it's just... I don't know what to say." Blazing said. "I always expect things to end so badly, I wasn't really prepared for this." He explained. He felt strange even just explaining that, but it didn't matter for the time being. Great... Now I made her feel bad... He thought.

Dog Ears went into his saddlebag and looked around for a while. He finally found a brush, which was odd since he didn't usually use one due to his mane drying into the way he liked it on it's own. He brought the brush over to Esme. "Uh yea I have one. Here. And I don't really know where the cafe is. If there actually is one in the first place. Only one way to find out right?"

"No, it's just... I don't know what to say." Blazing said. "I always expect things to end so badly, I wasn't really prepared for this." He explained. He felt strange even just explaining that, but it didn't matter for the time being. Great... Now I made her feel bad... He thought.

"I guess that makes two of us then. I had no idea you felt that way about me Blazing. This is actually really awkward for me." Charcoal says while rubing the back of her head. "I've never actually felt this way about another stallion before. But I do now and I don't intend on letting it go."

Esme nodded sweetly and took the brush from him. She started stroking in through her mane, wincing a little every once in a while. "Oh, that's fine. Ow. We'll just end up wandering around the island anyway. Ow. It would be better. Ow. If there was food. Ow. At the end of it. Ow." She stopped when she got to the back of her mane, she was shorter than most ponies her age, so her hoof wouldn't reach. "Grin? Could you brush my hair in the back? I'm too pudgy to reach..."

Dog Ears' face turned a little red. "Oh... um sure..." He took the brush from Esme and began brushing the end of her mane. "I'm uuh... not really good with this stuff. If you noticed I don't really brush my mane. And um... I don't think your pudgy..." His voice cracked at the end of his sentence just as he finished brushing the mane. Jeez Dog Ears you're 21 not a little colt. Get a grip. "Well... I think I'm done. Let's go look for that cafe then." Dog Ears trotted out of the room. He took in a large breath of air, just realizing that he had been breathing very lightly.

"So... Um... Now what?" Blazing asked, suddenly getting nervous. He wasn't sure why he was still nervous, but he couldn't control it. He was blushing worse and worse with every second, not even making an attempt to hide it. This is so awkward... But I know she loves me, and that's not going to change... So I shouldn't worry too much. He thought.

I'm not acually sure, as I said I'm kind of new to this. But I think a good place to start might be to eat the food we ordered, you know the food we forgot about after all if that comotion." Wow real smothe Charcoal, the stallion you like just said he loves you yet you worry about food.

"Oh yeah... We kinda forgot about the food didn't we?" Blazing said. He felt a bit idiotic forgetting about it, but he didn't really care at the time. "Anyway, we should probably eat then..." He said. Come on... Don't ruin this now... He told himself. As happy as he was, it didn't change the fact that he was paranoid.

"Yeah, that might be a good idea." Charcoal then picks up her utencils and starts eating. "You know you don't have to be so nervous. You didn't have to be nervous even before we realised we loved each other. But seriously calm down, it will just keep you from enjoying yourself."

"I'm sorry... I can't help but be nervous." Blazing said. "I mean, you've seen my cutie mark right? It always makes me nervous I'm going to mess something up." He explained. She has seen my cutie mark hasn't she? He wondered. He hoped that she had, otherwise he would have just ended up looking like an idiot.

Esme chuckled a little at Dog Ears's voice cracking, and she followed after him into the hallway. "Hey, thanks for brushing my mane like that. Eldrich usually does it for me, but, well, she's not here, is she?" The blue pegasus looked around for a while, then a question she had been meaning to ask him popped in her head. "Hey, Grin? This morning, when I woke up, I was in the bed. I distinctly remember falling asleep on the couch... Do you know anything about that?"

"It's alright but no, I can't say I've seen it, I don't spend a lot of time staring at other ponies flanks you know. But why, what is it, why does it make you so nervous? It can't be that bad, can it?" Could it really be that bad? I can't really think of anything that could be that bad of a cutie mark.

"Well... My cutie mark is a broken heart..." Blazing said. "Now do you see why I'm so nervous? My special talent is literally being heartbroken..." He explained. Normally he would never be willing to talk about his cutie mark to anyone, but this time was different.

Rambler shrugged. "I'm just going to ignore the word I don't know and assume that means it's up to me. Well, we should have a pretty good view of the sunset from that hill. Unless you want to take a dip in the water right now, which is fine by me. Or I guess we could always just keep walking for a while."

"I'm glad to hear that..." Blazing said. Without even thinking about it, he hugged Charcoal. He didn't know what it was, but for some reason just that made him feel better. I hope she doesn't think I'm weird or anything because of this... He thought. He didn't know why, but he was still being paranoid.

Charcoal was a bit surprised by the sudden hug but after getting over the sudden surprise she hugs him back. "There you go, its ok." Stroking his mane Charcoal attempts to calm him down. "If this makes you feel better you just need to ask, I will be there for you."

Blazing felt a lot better after that, not needing to worry about whether he messed up or not. Even though he was feeling a lot better, He still kept hugging Charcoal. He was sure that the minute he stopped, he would start worrying about something again.

Dog Ears rubbed the back of his neck and laughed nervously. "Oh um... Oh you thought... Oh nonono nothing happened... I just saw how uncomfortable the couch looked and moved you to the bed until you woke up. Then I took a shower and well, you know." He laughed a little. As much as he wanted to say he liked Esme as more than just a friend, he couldn't just yet. It was unknown to him that Esme really liked him, but Dog Ears wasn't sure if she was the one. What if he met another mare that was an animal lover like him and was just as nice and funny as Esme? No don't compare Esme. Don't do that. Dog Ears sighed, because unless he got with Esme, he would hurt her emotionally. But maybe she was the one. Dog Ears would have to wait and see. He was pretty patient anyways.
