Rambler shook his head. "You're much too hard on yourself. Maybe you're not perfect, but you're kind, intelligent, funny, sexy as all hell, and on top of that you're pretty much the only alicorn who isn't totally full of yourself. You're amazing, and I'm unbelievably lucky to have you as my marefriend."

@@Alex Kennedy,

Minath pursed her lips, then chuckled.

"Let's just agree to disagree, okay? Because we both know I'm not going to believe that you're the lucky one and you're not going to believe I'm the lucky one." Minath said, then chuckled again.

"So where've you traveled too recently?"

@,

Rambler shrugged. "Whatever you say. But I really don't think you give yourself enough credit. Anyway, to be honest I haven't travelled much lately. I'm loathe to go anywhere to far from you. But I was back home in Stallionshire for a little while, and visited a few old friends in Ponyville not too long ago. Nowhere very new or exciting, though. Simply knowing that I have you to come back to has done a lot to sate my wanderlust." He nuzzled her. "Let's sit down here, alright? We have a good view, and I don't want to miss the sunset."

@@Alex Kennedy,

"One of these days I'm going to have to learn that cloud-walking spells so you can see Cloudsdale. I could talk military with Lightning and you could visit the Cloudsdome. I looks pretty cool." Minath said.

"Sure. That sounds perfect" Minath said, then sat down on a piece of driftwood.

@,

Rambler smiled warmly. "I'd like that. Especially if it means we'd be able to travel somewhere together. These opportunities don't come along nearly often enough." He sat down next to her. "This is nice, isn't it? Just the two of us, alone, watching the sun set on the beach. It's like something out of a romance novel. Except less cheesy."

@@Alex Kennedy,

Minath laughed.

"No, I'm pretty sure this is just as cheesy." Minath said, then laughed. She wrapped her hoof around Rambler's and put both of them on her lap, and leaned onto Rambler's shoulder.

"I rarely ever watch the sunset. I'm always on the go or working. I never really get to like, just sit."

@,

Rambler nodded, and snuggled up to her. "I know. That's why I'm so glad we're here. You deserve an opportunity to just sit and rest for a while. You work too hard, and it's only fair that you have a chance to be lazy every now and then. The rest of the world can take care of itself for a little while."

@@Alex Kennedy,

Minath chuckled.

"I would hope so. I'm not always going to be there to save it." Minath said, then paused, and her next words were barely a whisper. "Or maybe I will be. I don't know...."

((For explanation if you don't get it, read Minath's backstory. It'll make sense why she added that tiddle piece of information))

@,

Rambler turned and looked into her eyes. He knew she was thinking about it again. "Don't worry about that. Just focus on the present, on this time we have together. Whatever the future holds, we'll deal with it as it comes." He wrapped his forelegs around her and pulled her in for a kiss.

@@Alex Kennedy,

Minath kissed Rambler back, and gave a sad smile.

"I think we both know I'm not good at focusing on the present. For me it's all about the future. And the possibilities we can lose or gain with each moment, each step."

((I'm, like, a dark poet. All doom and gloom but making it sound pretty.))

Rambler sighed. "Well, you don't have to worry about me up and dying just yet anyway. I think I've still got a few good years left in me. And as long as you're willing to spend those years with me, there's nothing else in the world that matters to me. I'm happy to grow old with you, even if I'm the only one who actually gets any older. But those things are a long way off. No sense in worrying about it just yet, eh?"

@@Alex Kennedy,

Minath sighed.

"Even as alicorns get older, our bodies are locked in eternal youth. When I'm 50 I'm still going to look 22. Even artificial alicorns get that. When you're 50 and I look 22, ponies will think I'm your daughter. When you're 75, they'll think I'm your granddaughter. It's just, different, ya know? And it's part of me that constantly worries. It's, like, in my job description." Minath said, then sighed once again.

Rambler shook his head. "I don't care what anyone else thinks. As long as you still love me, I don't need anything else. But of course, I won't force you to stay with me in my old age. I wouldn't want to hold you back. Anyway, just try to focus on all the good things that are still ahead of us. It won't all be bad."

@@Alex Kennedy,

Minath gave Rambler a disbelieving look.

"Do you really think I'll leave you when you're old? That's pure ludicrous. I'll always love you." Minath said, and wrapped herself closer around Rambler.

"I'll try to focus on the good things, but we both know I'm a pessimist." Minath said, then tried to chuckle lightly.

Rambler snuggled up closer to her. "I didn't think so. But I just wanted to make sure you knew it was always an option. I couldn't bear to think I was doing anything to make you unhappy. If nothing else, if you do end up living forever, don't worry about me. When I'm gone, I want you to do whatever brings you happiness. If that means finding somepony else, I want you to do that."

Rambler smiled warmly. "Don't worry about that. I'm not in too much of a hurry to get myself killed just yet. There's still so much I want to do with you. I can't afford to die for a long time yet. So don't worry. You'll have me at your side for quite a while, and I'll do my best to make the most of it. But it'll be easier if you don't spend that time worrying about everything."

@@Alex Kennedy,

Minath huffed.

"Dang you and your logic." She said, then leaned up to kiss Rambler on the lips. She than leaned her head on his chast, her mane falling around her. She tucked a wing around herself and Rambler, making a makeshift blanket. She curled her tail around both of their hind legs.

Rambler chuckled softly. "Sorry about that. I just can't stand seeing you unhappy. If I had it my way, you would never need to worry about anything." He sighed contentedly and began stroking her mane with his hoof. "I'd do just about anything to keep a smile on your face."

@@Alex Kennedy,

Minath smiled softly, a pink blush rising to her cheeks. She didn't say anything, expect for seven words.

"I really do love you, ya' know?" She said, then sighed, smile on her face. She leaned up and gave Rambler a long, passionate kiss on the lips.

((gross. That has to be the most sickening thing I have typed in a while.))

Rambler smiled and kissed her back. "I know. And I love you too, probably more than you could ever realize. Every day I thank whatever powers might govern the universe that I was able to meet you, and that for some reason you decided that I was worthy of your love."

@@Alex Kennedy,

"Well, if you believe in decision theory, there's an alternate universe out there where I didn't meet you. There's also a universe where I never ended up in that orphanage in Manehatten, causing me to have not joined the Canterlot Guard. There's a universe where I'm in jail for breaking into Celestia's quarters. There's a universe where I was never born. Scary thought, huh?"

@@Alex Kennedy,

Minath nuzzled Rambler back, and a funny thought occurred to her.

"There's also a universe where you're female." Minath said, then laughed. "Imagine that, a female Rambler. What would her name be? Would it still be Rambler? OOOOOH this is funny. I think my male equivalent's name would be Odyrie. Don't ask."
