Rambler laughed. "I don't know, but I thought you liked me as a stallion. Don't I still appeal to you? Or has that roommate of yours finally gotten you to switch to the other team?" He laughed harder and kissed her. "Anyway, she wouldn't be named Rambler. Not if the family tradition was the same."

Minath laughed.

 

"You wish. More entertaining for you, am I correct?" Minath said, waving her neck tauntingly at Rambler. She laughed and gave her signature lopsided smile.

Rambler grinned. "Maybe a little bit. But I like you just fine the way you are. Besides, even factoring that in, I don't see how you could possibly get much sexier than you already are."

Minath laughed and watched as the sun was almost done dipping under the horizon. She looked at the colors and how they blended together in perfect harmony.

 

"I should have the castle painter paint this for me. It's so beautiful, and every time I see it I'll be reminded of this moment. With just me and you." Minath said, then kissed Rambler with a soft smile on her lips.

Rambler smiled and kissed her back. "It really is beautiful, isn't it? I feel like this is one of those perfect moments that you only get maybe a few of in your entire life. Except it seems like I have moments like these pretty much whenever I'm with you."

Minath snuggled up to Rambler, her eyelids getting heavy.

 

"I seem to only notice the beautiful things in life around you. You remind me to *yawn* stop and smell the flowers." Minath said, looked up at Rambler with her half-lidded eyes.

Rambler chuckled and nuzzled her. "You're so adorable when your tired, you know. As much as I hate disturbing you when you look like you could fall asleep at any minute, I think we should probably head back to the hotel. Wouldn't want to catch a cold or something and ruin the whole vacation, would you?"

Minath nodded and yawned, getting up and stumbling.

 

"See, this is why *yawn* Celestia gave me a bedtime until I was 19. I would just fall asleep. By the way, don't tell anypony Celestia gave me a bedtime until I was 19. I never hear the end of it as it is." Minath said, and ending her statement with another drawn out yawn.

Rambler chuckled. "Right, my lips are sealed. Actually, tell you what-" He grabbed her in his forelegs and gently laid her across his back. "I'll carry you, and if you fall asleep on the way there it won't matter. Plus you won't keep embarrassing yourself stumbling around like that."

Minath smiled drowsily and nuzzled her head into Rambler's mane and neck. She wrapped her legs and wings around  him, to the point to secure herself but not enough to impair Rambler walking.

 

Minath yawned and blinked, trying to clarify her hazy eyesight. A few moments later, she could be heard snoring lightly.

Rambler smiled. Minath was absolutely adorable when she slept. He really was so lucky to have her. He slowly walked back to the hotel, careful to be gentle and tread lightly so as not to wake his sleeping beauty. He arrived back at their room and gently lowered her into the bed before sliding in next to her, careful not to wake her up. He smiled as he watched her sleep for a while, until eventually he fell asleep himself.

As usual, Rambler woke up before Minath and lay there watching her sleep for a while. She was so beautiful like this, totally peaceful and at rest. Not that she wasn't beautiful all the time, but it was easier to see when her face wasn't warped by worry. After a while, he decided he should probably get his day started and got out of bed, heading into the shower.

Minath awoke to Rambler not laying n ext to her, and the sound of running water.

 

He must be in the shower. I'll have to take one later, but right now I need to put my mane in a semblance of order. How can it get so disorderly during the night? Seriously. Luna must be messing with me or something.

Rambler was out of the shower not long after Minath awoke. He sat down on the bed and smiled. "Good morning, beautiful. Did you sleep okay? I know riding on my back probably isn't the most comfortable way to fall asleep, but I tried my best to be nice and gentle."

Minath smiled.

 

"When I was a filly I fell asleep on the chandelier in the throne room. Everypony was scrambling around looking for me, but Celestia had a meeting with a ruler from another country. I was discovered when I was snoring right above he meeting. Luckily the ruler thought that was precious and it increased friendliness. Moral of the story: I can fall asleep anywhere."

Rambler grinned. "That's adorable. I just wish I could have been there to see it. You must have looked so cute curled up in there. Of course, really you look cute when you're sleeping anyway. In fact, you look downright beautiful. And not just when you're asleep, either. But of course, you should know that by now. I certainly tell you enough."

"Are we going to go into talking about my self-confidence? Because I don't think that's a good idea. After all, I don't want to ruin what we have going on right now with my pesky inhibitions and self-doubt." Minath said, then chuckled. Minath thoguht she was strictly average looking, no matter what anypony else told her.

Rambler sighed. "Hasn't it ever occurred to you that maybe there's a reason you're body drives me completely wild? You're amazingly beautiful. I've never seen another mare that even came close. And I know I'm not the only one that sees it, either. I've seen the way stallions look at you. There's a reason they're practically drooling. I just wish you could see that."

Minath shoved Rambler playfully, maybe a little harder than she meant to.

 

"Oh, stop it. They do not. I think I would be actually pretty without all these scars, but that's just me. With them I'm average. But I would never get rid of them for the world. Most of my scars yo haven't seen, actually."

Rambler grinned mischievously. "Oh? Is that right? I don't suppose you'd be inclined to show me, would you? Anyway, with or without those scars, you're beautiful. Really. And personally, I like them. They show how tough you are, and how strong you are, both inside and out. And they really don't mar your appearance at all. I think they actually compliment it."

"Oh shush it, you. And I'll show you just one." Minath said, and turned so her back was turned away from Rambler, and lifted up her shirt, revealing a long, pale scar running along her spine. Her back still turned to Rambler, she spoke, her voice ringing loud and clear.

 

"It was before I had gotten my armor, before the siege of Canterlot by the Changelings. I think it was a bad run with the dragons, I don't quiet remember. One of them had cut this," Minath said, her hoof running down her spinal scar, "into me. He was trying to rip out my spinal chord. He almost succeeded, actually. Luckily Lightning had saved me. I would be dead without him." Minath said, then grabbed Rambler's hoof and placed it on the pale line, giving him permission to feel it.

Rambler felt along the line of the scar. "Wow. I never really think about how dangerous your job can be. I'm just glad you made it out okay, though." He removed his hoof from the scar and suddenly pulled her in for a hug. "As much as I admire the strength and bravery that those scars represent, try not to get anymore of them, alright? I hate the idea of you getting hurt and me not being able to protect you."

Minath chuckled and returned Rambler's hug.

 

"I'll try. Although scars come with the job. Some prefer to use spells to mask their scars, like Shining Armor did, and some prefer to leave them as is, like me. I have many others. Maybe one time you'll see all of them." Minath said,

Rambler grinned. "I can only hope so. But don't go teasing me, you're going to get me all excited, and it's going to be hard for us to do anything if I spend the whole day fantasizing and undressing you with my eyes. Not that I don't do that all the time anyway. So what do you want to do today, anyway? I mean, I suppose we have to get breakfast first, but after that, what do you think? We could go back to the beach and actually swim this time or something. Whatever you want, really."
