gaming Favorite installment of the Mass Effect trilogy

For me, while I like all three games equally, my most obvious choice would be the first Mass Effect.  It allowed me to explore large-scale uncharted worlds in my Mako moon-rover to complete a variety of side-quests.  I also enjoyed using Paragon charms on the various NPCs in the game, especially Urdnot Wrex on Virmire.  And, I cannot forget about my multi-racial squad of specialists.

 

Mass Effects 2 and 3, meanwhile, are much smaller in scale, with ME3 being the smallest of them all.  I only have one hub-world to go to for my shopping and side-quest needs, compared to four in Mass Effect 2.  Both of those games also take too many cues from shooters like Halo, Gears of War, and Call of Duty, from regenerating health to linear corridor-style levels.

 

That's not to say ME2 and ME3 are entirely awful.  I liked gathering a squad of specialists to help me in both games.  I liked completing loyalty missions in Mass Effect 2.  And, I can't forget about that party in the Citadel DLC, which allowed Shepard and his/her entire squad to throw a party and celebrate all the good times they had together, before their inevitable final push against the Reapers.
