Cleo hesitated a little before letting go of the pegasus. She mumbled something about being asleep, then shook her head.  " I'm Cleo, but don't think that I trust you." She narrowed her eyes, and then looked up at the screen. What the heck did he say? 288? What does that mean?

Grand thought for a moment and ran it in her head over and over again. it was a pun, though she had no idea what the answer was. she didnt realize she had signed herself up for a twisted version of an exam. she might be in here awhile. "what is so special about the number 288 anyways?" she said to herself, racking her brain for ideas

288, what was so special about the number 288, was it a year that something awful happened. Was it the number of ponies that these people have abducted. "What do you think they mean by 288, why we shouldn't mention it to ponies." Fire Horn couldn't think, his head was too sore.

Grand sat down and began to just talk nonsense hoping she would get somewhere. "so a pun is a play on words. maybe we shout wtire out the words?" she said. two hundred eighty eight. two eight eight." she scratched her head. it doesnt seems theres anything there. "perhaps its a math question?" she thought. 2+8+8 is 18. nothing special about that. she was totally lost

Day Late stared at the screen that had just told him to solve a riddle to escape an elevator. There had to more to it than that. He was also surprised to hear that there were other ponies here. Although that would explain the banging, if others were trapped in similar situations, it wouldn't be surprising if one of them try forcing the doors open. He searched the rest of the room and found what the mini tiger had said to be true. There was a small safe in the back of the room and a hatch on the ceiling. No way of opening either with out solving that riddle first.

 

Day laughed to himself. He remembered the joke his math teacher told him when he was still in school. Who knew those awful puns would one day possibly save his life. "Hey, Zero!" he called out. "Did you know that 144 is a gross, or a dozen times a dozen. 288 is double that. The reason you shouldn't mention 288 to anypony is because its two gross."

"We have a winner!"

The safe unlocked in every elevator.

"Alright everypony." The tiger said. "Get out of your room and meet your fellow players in the game. And after that we will discuss the rules a little bit."

 

Midnight opened the safe and took out the key.

"Hey, Stephan. can you help me up?"

Grand grabbed the key from the safe and slowly unlcoked the door. the steel doors slid apart silently and slowly. the light on the other side was almost blinding due to the dark elevator she had been locked in. She slowly walked out and noticed several other elevators as well. how many other ponies were there?

The safe behind Fire Horn opened, a key was inside, the key to get out of this damn elevator. Fire Horn levitated the key out of the safe. Then unlocked the elevator, there was a red pony, a unicorn, with hair that could probably be a baloon and not hair.
"So, i guess it's not just us then." Pointing to the other pony behind him.

((OOC This is happening in every elevator))

 

A tiny screen just above the buttons started up. All you could see was a miniature tiger on it.

It started to talk. "Well hello there. It seems most of you have woken up by now." It had a somwhat heavy voice.

"Oh, where are my manners. My name is Zero. Now then, if you want to get out of this elevator all you have to do is anwser a simple question."

On the screen appeared some text. "ROUND ONE" which was followed with the text "The pun round".

"The question is: Why shouldn't you mention the number 288 to anypony? Once you've got the right anwser that little safe behind all of you will open. In there is a key that will open the hatch on the top of the elevator. By the way I can always hear you so once you've got it I will open the safe for you. But what happens if I don't know the anwser, you ask. Well there are more players in this little game. Ifone of you guesses it all the safes will open. Oh, aren't I nice?"

Then the screen went black again.

"288? What could that possibly mean?" Blazing wondered. "Isn't this just perfect? Asking questions like this to a complete idiot..." He said to himself then collapsed on the ground. "I'm gonna die here aren't I?" He said to himself. There was no way to get out, unless he answered the question, and that was impossible.

Cleo looked up from her thinking when she heard the voice. Instantly, she felt relieved. Damn maths jokes. Grabbing the key, she quickly then unlocked the door and didn't look back.

 

Her relief faded when she saw the other ponies. Great. More ponies to deal with. Just great. Cleo rolled her eyes with a huff.

Grand saw other ponies beginning to enter the room, so she decided she might as well get aqcuainted with them. "hello everypony, I am Grand Finale. I am going to assume you know as much as I do, so perhaps we should try and figure it out together." she said, looking around the room, hoping for some sort of hint as to why they were put here

They could be my chance of getting out of this place. She sighed, and straightened out of her slump." I'm Cleo. The pony behind me is Nove Fly or something like that."

Grand huffed at the rude pony. "I amterribly sorry that I am trying to figure out ehat is going on! for all we know, this could be a giant death trap, it might do you some good to make a few acquaintances anyways" she said, turning her muzzled up. "either way, I dont think we are going to get any further instructions until we all converse anyways, so just think of it as another puzzle, because clearly it must be difficult for you to uphold  a civilized conversation with a pony" she said angrily. she didnt appreciate the comment the pony had made at all, and she made it clear

Midnight used Stephan as a platform so he could climb out and helped him out afterwards.

When he looked around it seemed like they were in a giant empty warehouse. Except for the other ponies that were there.

There were three colored shiny doors. And there was also a much bigger door. The big one had the number nine written on it, big.

"What is going on here? Well, nopony here probably knows."

Midnight jumped of the elevator.

"Guys, can I look at your bracelets for a moment?"

Grand glared at Cleo before walking over to Midnight. "of course dear, perhaps you can figure it out." she said, holding up her hoof to him. "now, does anyone happen to have any idea where we are?" she said to the new arrivals. she already knew the answer, but she gave it a shot anyways

Day smiled, but remembered that this was only round one. How many more would there be? This wasn't the time to start getting full of himself. He grabbed the key from the safe and pushed the safe under the hatch. He stood on top of it and reached up with the key in his mouth to unlock the hatch. With a satisfying creak the hatch opened. Day Late jumped up through the opening and saw the rest of the group. A bunch of ponies were standing in the middle of a big room. He decided it would be best to join them. There's strength in numbers. Day noticed one of them seemed to be examining each of the other ponies watches. "What's going on over here?"

It took Cleo a lot of strenght to not laugh at Grand's words. Even so, a small breathless laugh managed to escape. 

 

 

 

"Guys, can I look at your bracelets for a moment?"

 

" Bracelet?" The earth pony looked down at her hoof, having not noticed earlier that she had one attached to her hoof. " What the heck is it?" She tried to slide it off, but it was firmly attached.

" now, onto a more important subject, what in equestria do you think is with these doors?" she pushed on them, and just as before, they wouldnt budge.

"The color is different on yours. As well as the text."

Midnight took a quick look at the other bracelets.

"Did everyone wake up in different elevators or were all of you paired up with somepony else?"

He needed information, at this point he didn't even care what kind of information.

" Have you seen that thing on top of your head? It's like something's trying to suck out your non-existant brains." Cleo smirked before looking back at Midnight.

 

 

"Did everyone wake up in different elevators or were all of you paired up with somepony else?"

 

 

" I woke up with some pegasus called Nova Flee or something." Cleo looked at her bracelet again. Blue's a nice color, but purple would've been better. She shook her head. Why the heck am I even thinking about colors right now?

"I woke up alone, but it seems pairs were just as common' she said, examining the doors. "from what I can tell, there are 6 elevators, but nine ponies, so each color seems to have one pair and one solo per color" she said, looking at the bracelets herself, as well as the wall of elevators. these doors were still a mystery though. and what was with the number 3 on the bracelets?" Grand touched her hair and glared at the pony. "it is an updo, which are all the rage in Canterlot right now!" she said, playing with it, clearly angered by the jab

Day Late chuckled at the constant bickering between the mares in front of him. At these two would keep things from getting dull. He turned to Midnight. "I woke up alone. My watch also has a 3 on it, as well as the word solo. They're both in red. Do you think that the colors have anything to do with the game Zero mentioned?"

"perhaps, seeing as we all seem to have three on our watches, three of us must go thorugh the large door. because 3 multiplied by three is nine. then again, ther are nine ponies here. multiples of three seem to have quite a play in this...whatever it is we are in" she said, thinking about the doors. "and perhaps these colors might have something to do with the color wheel?" she said, noticing all the colors that were involved

" Pfft. You Canterlot prissies have no sense of fashion, even if it hit you in the face. Ponies like you mimic Princess Celestia so hard, you're going to lose any sense of individuality that you had, which is pretty close to none already." Cleo's smirk grew.
