Explanation of the Ending

Half-Note

Recommended Posts

So a lot of people have wondered why the Element of Magic made Sunset Shimmer into a demon at the end of the movie. My theory is that in the alternate world the element was volatile and unstable and that when Sunset put it on it was charged with hatred that caused it to go berserk. When Sunset Shimmer tried to use the crown to attack Twilight it was again brought into contact with not only someone from Equestria but also people who embody the virtues that the other elements are made of, which helped it to become an embodiment of friendship.

And on the subject of "The elements have no power alone" That was never stated in the show, only that they can only use friendship beams by combining together.

I agree with you. This is what I said in another thread.

"As far as the whole demon Sunset I guess only Twilight can wear her crown and use the powers in her Element without negative effects because she has friends and isn't evil. When her friends protected Twilight the magic in her Element did the same and protected them all and transformed them all into a pseudo pony form."

Hey, that actually makes a lot of sense. I've considered the poorly explained climax a major flaw but this helps me see that it actually does come together rather well after all, thank you!

Edit: Wait... if that's true the crown would have stabilized as soon as she returned to Equestria, rendering her powerless. Dammit!
