  1. OH MY GOD THIS EPISODE WAS SO AWESOME OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD It had great visuals, an intriguing story, a good moral, good pacing, frickin' LUNA. I'm not sure there's even anything I have to complain about. A sincere thank you to Josh Haber
  2. So... it's not happening? That's probably for the best, I suppose.
  3. All of the negativity directed at this film is crushing. I stand by my opinion that this is a good film, I just hate being so far in the minority.
  4. I loved it. The Equestria Girls films have brought as much enrichment to my life as the main series has, and they fully deserve to be called My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
  5. I've had mostly positive experiences with them. My Little Timelord MIA The Daily Show Presents: Equestrian Interviews Stardust These are great fics. And I dearly wish My Little Timelord hadn't been abandoned, as it was truly spectacular while it lasted.
  6. I do believe in the value of analysis, even when it comes to a show about pastel-colored talking ponies. This is why I like season three Digibro. Season four Digibro is a different matter entirely. His Bats review was blisteringly stupid, especially because he missed the point of the episode. I didn't watch many of his videos after that (especially after he switched to that insufferable new OC) but I did try watching his Twilight's Kingdom review only to turn it off after he started whining about the design of Twilight's new castle. Way to keep perspective there, Digi! So I'm going to go with him as my least favorite. Now, if any of you want to watch a reviewer who is reasonable and makes good points I would direct you to Strebiskunk.
  7. My favorite anime is Birdy the Mighty: Decode. (I've never had any idea why it's called "Decode" though.) I also very highly recommend Welcome to the NHK and Ouran High School Host Club.
  8. Halo 3 frustrated me, because I played on the same difficulty setting as the others but I died a lot more. Then again, I had the same experience with CoD4, but replayed it much later and loved it, so maybe I just need to play the game again. For now though, something has to be my least favorite of the series so I suppose that's it. So, for me it goes: 1) Halo Reach 2) Halo 1 3) Halo 2 4) Halo ODST (which, really, is another game I think I might like more were I to replay it) 5) Halo 4 6) Halo 3 Altogether, with the possible exception of Halo 3, I don't think any of them are much better or worse than each other. Oh, and I'm going purely off single-player, as I couldn't care less for multi-player.
  9. I haven't watched all of his videos, although I like what I've seen. He hates all of us, and I think its hilarious.
  10. Hi, my name is Jonas, 24, and it's only been within the last few years that I've realized I'm bisexual. It's not something I've ever told anyone, and I'm not eager to. I also find the thought of cross-dressing appealing, although I wouldn't qualify as transgender.
  11. Okay, so we know Celestia believes in learning by doing. It's also reasonable to conclude she knew very well what the main six needed to do to open the chest, so she knew that Twilight would have to spread friendship to another in order to get her key. Since Twilight is meant to be the princess of friendship- or, rather, since that was Celestia's intention though she never stated it outright, Celestia wanted Twilight to learn that for herself by attaining her key. Celestia didn't know specifically how it would happen (and she was probably quite surprised by how exactly it turned out to happen), she just knew it would happen eventually. That is why she refrained for giving Twilight significant responsibilities. It was all her plan for Twilight to grow into her role by doing rather than being told what to do. It took me a while to get that. I'm still stewing over what I thought of the episode as a whole however.
  12. Holy shit! Josh Haber, when did you get so good? So you wrote Castle-mania, an episode which was fun but lacked substance. Then you wrote Simple Ways, which was funny half the time and painful the other half, so I was expecting just an okay episode out of you, but instead I found what, upon my first impressions at least, seems to be one of the best episodes of the series. 9/10
  13. This is the best episode of season four so far. By far 9/10
  14. 1. Rarity Takes Manehattan 2. Princess Twilight Sparkle Parts 1 and 2 3. Bats 4. Castle Mane-ia 5. Power Ponies 6. Pinkie Pride 7. Pinkie Apple Pie 8. Three's a Crowd 9. Daring Don't 10. Flight to the Finish 11. Simple Ways 12. Rainbow Falls People love Flight to the Finish, and for good reason. They've articulated their reasons and I don't object. All the same, I had some problems with the episode that really held it back for me. I rated it low, yet I don't think it's a bad episode, I just don't enjoy it much personally. As for the first half of the season on the whole, the only episode that I strongly disliked was Rainbow Falls. The problem is that there wasn't any episode, besides maybe Rarity Takes Manehattan, that I would call great.
  15. The site banner switched before I watched this episode, and, upon seeing it, along with having read the synopsis of the episode provided by iTunes, I got a good idea of what was going to happen and consequently braced myself for a horrible experience. And yes, the episode did turn out to be damned awkward to watch as I expected, but it was also really funny. So, overall... I'm not sure. I'll have to come back with more detailed thoughts later.
  16. Strebiskunk is the critic most able to sway my opinion through solid argumentation, so he's my favorite. I do wish he hadn't missed the point of Bats! though.
  17. There seems to be a limit of two embedded videos per post, so is a playlist of good AMVs from various anime and is a playlist for Soul Eater AMVs. Here are the two most highly recommended AMVs from the list:
  18. As of the posting of this comment, the latest episode to air was Three's a Crowd. It is still so weird to me that what handily rates as the best episode of the season so far was written by Polsky. Meanwhile, it's actually Corey Powell who's done the most damage to the quality of this season with the abysmal Rainbow Falls. I mentioned in an earlier comment that I was having trouble deciding if this was a great or just good episode and I still kind of am. I might settle with the latter just out of disappointment with the musical number. It served the plot well but it's not particularly pleasant to listen to and I won't be revisiting it often.
  19. On one hand, this episode is a lot of fun. On the other, it's hard to overlook how hollow the whole thing is due to the paper thin plot. I dunno... it seems decent but calling it good is a bit of a stretch. The same accusation of lacking depth could be leveled at Castle-mania and Power Ponies, but here is seems particularly egregious as it's a Discord episode and that's suppose to be something special. Overall, a six out of ten, seven at best.
  20. Two minor things I like about this episode: 1) The griffins in the background. It's always nice to see they're around. 2) Soarin was only injured because he distracted himself by checking out some pretty mares. It's the smallest of things but it's pretty meaningful to me. Oh, and Derpy's back. That's nice too, I guess. As for the episode as a whole, I'm not sure. I've only seen it all the way through once so far. Critics have been pretty harsh on this episode, and have given what seems to be some pretty good reasons as to why. I hope to be able to come up with some counterarguments, but right now I've got to say I'm leaning towards agreeing with the detractors that this was a bad and perhaps even awful episode. The Mysterious Mr. Enter, The Voice of Reason, Tommy Oliver, Digibrony, AnY Pony, and even Dr. Wolf all coming out with either lukewarm or scathing reviews is hard to ignore, as these are all smart people who know how to articulate their opinions. But like I said, I'll have to watch this episode again and reflect further on the matter to figure out my own opinion.
  21. Why do I keep having tepid initial reactions to episodes only to warm up to them later? If an episode is good, why can't I see that the first time through? I'm not completely sure that I'd fully endorse this as a great episode, though I'd be hard pressed to deny it's good. It took me a few viewings, but I'm coming to like it a lot more than initially. This is one case where intellectually I'm making a really good case to myself in the episode's favor, yet emotionally I'm not quite there. I'll have to think further yet on precisely how much I like this episode. I should admit some congratulations are in order. You did it Mr. Polsky, you made a good episode. Honestly, I never thought I'd see the day. Sure, Too Many Pinkie Pies and Daring Don't came close to being good, but didn't quite make it, and I thought that was the best this writer would ever manage. I'm not at the point of liking Polsky as a writer yet, but this raises his average a fair bit.
  22. Regarding how season four is shaping up so far, I've noticed something. I score every episode on a ten point scale and in this season there has yet to be any episode that has scored for me anything but a six or a seven. My mind could change about any of these few episodes, it's often hard to make up my mind and my opinion doesn't always stay the same. But for right now I don't see any episode I would call bad although neither do I see any episode I can fully endorse as great. I thought maybe Bats! was it, but that episode had some problems. Princess Twilight Sparkle and Rarity Takes Manehattan come closer. Anyway, as for this episode, it was good. It was nice to see the Apple family and Pinkie interacting, much as it was nice to see Fluttershy and Applejack interacting in Bats!. Lots of small moments to appreciate, a good musical number, a good moral, and a general sense of fun all add up to a solid episode. 7/10
