So I finally have a graphics tablet and can begin working on digital art works! No more scanned in pictures from sketchbooks and I get to work with colour (yay). So without further ado I present to you my first digitally drawn pony, a little filly I call Raspberry Swirl: Drawn with Flash Critique, ideas and suggestions all welcome, I'm here to hone my pony drawing skills afterall. Sugar Pea 2,683 August 4, 2013 Share August 4, 2013 I think she looks beautiful and simple. Not overdone like many female OCs around here, it looks like she could be on the show. Make way, this OC is too awesome. ℓ٥ﻻ ﻉ√٥υ
repsol rave 2,963 August 4, 2013 Share August 4, 2013 looks very amazing, especially for your first digitally drawn OC :3 if i where to give constructive critisism, i would say that her legs are maybe a little too wide in comparisation with her body. but that's just me tough. My OC's: Roarke, Repsol and Crystal
Swick (ded) 436 August 4, 2013 Share August 4, 2013 And I thought I was the only one who did graphics in Flash. Though your lines look a bit strange and the legs could be skinnier, I like it. Good work! Hey you! Hey! Do you have Flash? Wanna animate ponies? HERE'S A THING I DID A LONG TIME AGO! Pony Puppets for any version of Flash! Jokuc 8,176 August 4, 2013 Share August 4, 2013 I really like your OCs design. The top of the mane is something I don't think I have seen before. She's simple and looks very good. About the actual drawing itself, it's quite good. I noticed one thing though. Fillies, has very round eyes compared to grow up ponies, and I see that you have drawn that here. Though, when you got a front angle on them, the eyes will be a little more oval. Also, the nose is usually a little bit up and in between the eyes. Here's an example from Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle:

Make way, this OC is too awesome. Thank you so very much, that's very kind of you to say. I shall try to continue improving and wow you all with my ponies looks very amazing, especially for your first digitally drawn OC :3 if i where to give constructive critisism, i would say that her legs are maybe a little too wide in comparisation with her body. but that's just me tough. Repsol rave & Swick, thanks very much to both of you for the feedback, I shall try to keep that in mind next time. For some reason I think of fillies as having dumpy legs but that's a habit I need to break free of in future I really like your OCs design. Here's an example from Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle: Thanks very much for this, I think I just tried to make her eyes look more rounded but forgot that they look different from the front. I also neglected to make the nose as you said, I think I used the dimensions for adult ponies where the nose is smaller in comparison to the size of their head. Thanks all for the pointers! Guest August 13, 2013 Share August 13, 2013 Bump for new content, check out my updated Raspberry Swirl version 1.1 above. I have plans to make a family for her including a big sister named Cinnamon Swirl :
~Chaos~ 3,973 August 13, 2013 Share August 13, 2013 She looks really adorable! I like her design and colour scheme, it's nice and simple (which is a good thing!) and her mane design is pretty sweet. Overall it's really great, I have no critiques at this time. ^^ Nice work!
Novahike999 4 August 13, 2013 Share August 13, 2013 I wish I could do ponies like that. Mine always end up with really round heads and legs that could snap of when you blink near them.

Thank you both for your kind words, it's always great on this forum with everyone being so supportive I'd like to start taking requests so I can practice more, if anyone has any ideas lay them on me :3 Edit: if anyone could suggest a good tutorial on hind legs I'd appreciate it. I always struggle with them :s And here she is, Raspberry Swirl's big sister Cinnamon Swirl! I think I need to raise her hairline as it obscures her eyes too much and her hair is wrong in the full-body image, I had intended it to swirl the opposite direction to Raspberry's hair which is reflected in the picture on the right. I need to design her Cutie mark still but it's gonna be a Cinnamon danish pastry ;D Raspberry still hasn't found her one special talent and gets underfoot at her sister's bakery, much to Cinnamon's exasperation. I have plans in store for the little filly once I can pick a hometown and get her family's designs cemented. Here they are once more, this time around Cinnamon's hair is correct Apologies for Cinnamon not having a cutie mark, I discovered that I cannot draw pastries so instead of having a terrible cutie mark I'm leaving it blank for now. I always struggle with them :s Talking about hind legs, I have something you might be able to do for me. I am working on a Derpy Hooves fur suit, Everything is going fine so far the head is done(ish') and the hooves are also done(ish'). But one thing I just cannot figure out is how I am going to cut the inserts for the legs to form the knees and to thicken the top of the leg up. It would be brilliant if you could do a front and a side diagram of the legs (Possibly with shading to show the thickness of the foam?) I would like them similar to the legs on this Vinyl Scratch fur suit by AtalontheDeer. Edited August 26, 2013 by Novahike999
Guest August 26, 2013 Share August 26, 2013 (edited) So essentially you want to pad your legs with foam to give the impression of having a pony's joints? Send me a PM with your email address and I'll see what I can do. I hope this was what you were thinking, I've shown the differences in human and pony joints and drawn where you need to augment in order to give your legs a more pony-esque appearance. You won't be able to mask the fact that your knees bend the opposite way but when stood up it should be accurate enough If you pm me with your email I can send it that way for you to look at better Sam Edited August 26, 2013 by Dilarus
Guest September 7, 2013 Share September 7, 2013 (edited) Just some more sketches, I'm really trying to nail the intricacies of pony anatomy and it's both challenging and tremendously enjoyable. I also haven't forgotten about Raspberry Swirl although I'm not quite sure what I can do with her. I'm working on an animated series so perhaps I can sneak her in as an easter egg but ideally I'd like to animater her story about how she gets her cutie mark. Oh well, baby steps. BTW APPLE BLOOM IS FREAKING ADORABLE! Edited September 7, 2013 by Dilarus
