"Don't worry about her" Violet goes over to blast and puts a hoof on his shoulder "She's young and been through a lot. It's only natural that she'd get depressed from time to time. I'm barely keeping it together as it is, believe it or not"

"At least you have a family." Blast began to walk. "I haven't seen my family in forever. I just want you to feel assured and secure as we manage through these tough times. I'm doing all of this stuff for you and the Marines because I want to help you get back to Equestria. Because, quite frankly, I don't feel like dying on this dried-out rock."

"That's sweet of you to say" Violet smiled "I think we could all learn by your example, if people weren't so caught up in their own problems"

 

Romula walked out of the medical shack.

 

"I've got some good news, and I've got some bad news" She neared Violet and Blast "What do you want to hear first?"

Blast blushed a little bit at what Violet said and smiled. "Heheh. Yeah, I guess so." He noticed Romula coming and heard what she said. "Get the bad news over with first." Blast awaited for Romula to speak. His mind was troubled, though. He was too wrapped up in recent events.

"Bad news is, Talia was suffering from severe dehydration and will need to spend many days resting"

 

"What's the good news?" Violet asked

 

Romula smiled "The goods news is, she's probably going to pull through. Although I'm not sure about that other patient we have, the unconscious pony you found back at the crash site"

"The pony was suffering from a massive injury to both of his front legs. He looked like he was crippled. That's why he couldn't life the big piece of rubble he was stuck under. Although, he might not be crippled. Further investigation will be needed for that." Blast yawned. "I think that's enough for one day." He proceeded to the canteen to get some oats.

"And I suppose I should check on my sister" Violet said

 

Just as she was about to walk off, Romula grabbed her attention.

"Can I keep you company?"

 

Violet looked at Romula with surprise "I guess... Am I in trouble?"

 

"No you silly mare" Romula giggled "I just want to take my mind off work for a while"

 

The two chatted as they walked over to the Sunshine shack.

As Blast walked in, he closed the door behind him and proceeded to the kitchen he opened the fridge and saw the whiskey him and Leo found the other day. He took it out and poured himself a shot and drank it. "Oh yeah... that's it." He sat down in a chair with his shot glass. "I wonder where Leo ran off to. I've barely seen him today." Blast thought.

At the Crash Site.

 

The Marines, a dozen strong in number, were dotted around the site. Their orders were to check for anything useful as well as eliminate any hostile threats. So far, nothing of importance had popped up.

 

Leo stood in the desert heat "This sucks" He mumbled to himself

Blast sat inside of the canteen for a while, drinking shots of whiskey. He tried too limit himself, though, as he didn't want to fall off the wagon. He sat alone in the canteen for a while when he saw Madrid come in. "Hi, Madrid. Need something?"

 

(I hope you don't mind if I can tell what some of the others do, too. If I can, please tell me who I can and can't)

"I got hungry, and my big sister is talking to Romula" She takes a plate full of fruit and a bottle of water, she then sits next to Leo. She eats normally for change, rather than guzzling it all down.

Madrid notices the whiskey Blast is drinking and he sits there silent. "...Don't tell Romula. She'll be all over this stuff." He put the whiskey back in the fridge and returns to his seat. "You still seem down, Madrid. You should be happy. Your mom is recovering."

"I'm just... not used to Violet looking after me" Madrid explained "She normally worked and I stayed with my parents. But now, I just think I'm causing her problems"

 

She rubbed her eyes, obviously stressed out from the thought of it

 

"She always tells me to stay at the shack when any danger pops up, it gets quite boring"

"Heh. Sounds like you could use some excitement in your life." Blast got out of his chair and looked Madrid in the eye. "Tell you what. Once all of this is over and we get back to Equestria, we'll go on an adventure together. And don't say that we won't escape here. We will, one way or another. I promise."

"An adventure? That would be freakin' awesome!" Madrid cheered as she started bouncing around the place "We could fight monsters, discover new lands, solve age old mysteries... the possibilities are endless!"

 

She stopped bouncing and sat back down "You are super cool!"

Blast gave a chuckle and sat back down next to Madrid. "You're cool too, Madrid. You're bright and happy. That's all I really want you to be. And, yeah. We'll fight evil, we'll travel, we might discover some old treasures, it'll be tons of fun." Blast said with a grin.

"I'm feeling a lot more happier about it now thanks!" Madrid grinned "Romula said she'd recover, so I got nothing to worry about"

 

Madrid was back to her normal chirpy self. She was no longer depressed.

 

She took half the candy bar and swallowed it in one bite.

 

"My appetite is back as well"

Blast smiled and hugged Madrid. "Good to see you bright and happy again." He let go and got out of seat and walked to the window. He looked on the horizon and into the sky. As the sun set, Blast felt content. He felt like a real Marine being here in their core. He used to always look up to them as a kid, and he was honored to be by their side.

Romula comes through the canteen doors.

 

"Oh hey, didn't think there'd be any pony here at this time of day"

 

She walked over into the kitchen and pulled out a couple of bottles of Whiskey.

 

"If there's one thing I love more than a bottle of whiskey, it's two bottles of whiskey"

Blast snapped out of his daydream when Romula walked into the canteen. "Oh, um, good evening, Romula. I see you discovered the whiskey." He sat back down in his chair and ate his chocolate bar half. "So, how have you been, Ma'am? It seems like trouble has died down."

Romula shrugged "I left Peppermint in charge, and Slavik is helping him out. So it's more like there problem now!"

 

She grinned as she opened up a bottle of whiskey and took a swig from it.

 

"I'm going to hang out with Violet for a while, I'll catch you two later"

"Alright then. Enjoy your evening." Blast took one last shot of whiskey before putting the bottle away. He then returned to Madrid. "Romula has seemed to have taken an interest in Violet. Are they like close friends or is she deciding to lighten up?" Blast snickered at his statement.

Madrid pondered on that thought. Was it possible that her sister and Romula were...

 

"Well, Romula does have a thing for mares. But that's gossip I heard quite a while back" She started chewing an apple as she contemplated the possibilities "Dunno about my sister though. She never had a partner in her life"

Blast laid back in his chair and but his hind hooves up. "What do you mean by 'she has a thing for mares?' Does she... nevermind. It's a weird thought." He let the idea leave his mind before continuing. "Your sister has never had a mate in her life? Neither have I. I guess that's one of the things you gotta deal with when you're always somewhere else in the universe."
