Charcoal was woken up by Jack talking to her. She had heard what he said but it took her a few seconds to respond with how tired she was. "Right right. Well I actually do have a pretty good paying job, and I pretty much just work from home so I can have the job. Can I sleep now?"

Jack's ears flopped back "Yes. You can sleep. Thank you for our little talk." Jack sat next to the cot. He pictured in his mind Charcoal making furniture and teaching the filly how to fly and cook and make stuff. And Jack, just sitting around. Being a liability. What will I do around the house other that wander around and talk to my voice with a pack of cards?

Jack shook his head to rid himself of those thoughts. He then looked over to Charcoal. She looked so calm and peaceful when she slept. Jack felt a little weird watching somepony sleep. But this was his marefriend, so it shouldn't be that bad. He then saw her wings. He remembered the many times she wrapped him up in them. He was curious about how agile they were. Jack carefully and silently tip-hoofed behind Charcoal. He saw the wings and slowly touched one to see if she would wake up.

Jack shook his head to rid himself of those thoughts. He then looked over to Charcoal. She looked so calm and peaceful when she slept. Jack felt a little weird watching somepony sleep. "Sometimes when I wake up, I'm afraid of waking up back in Appleloosa just to find out it's all a dream." Jack said as he kissed Charcoal's cheek.

Charcoal smiled again as she got another idea. "You know, I hear that if you want to know if you are dreaming or not you let somepony hit you and if you feel pain you aren't dreaming." Charcoal lifted a hoof into the air. "You want me to so you can fine out?" Charcoal asked.

Charcoal was about to run to Jacks side, but something was wrong. She felt something wet on the cot and something felt like it was trying to come out of her. Then it struck her as the pain started. "Hey Jack, I think the time has come." She said as she began panting and clutching her stomach.

Jack heard her about the time coming. "What do you mea- Oh! The baby foal!" Jack was about to freak out. 'Calm down. There should be a button for a nurse to come on the bedside table.' Jack decided to take his voice's advice. He jumped to the bedside table where he saw multiple buttons. Some had arrows which Jack could only guess meant it was for the bed. Then he saw one that had a pony on it. Frantically, Jack pushed it again and again before sitting beside Charcoal "Remember. Hee hee, hoo hoo. Breath mare breath!'

 

After a minute a nurse burst through the doors "Whaddaya want?" she saw Jack and Charcoal on a bed while Charcoal was grabbing her stomach. The nurse grabbed a radio that was on the wall and called for immediate assistance. Almost instantly, three other nurses came with a gurney. They moved Charcoal onto the gurney and started wheeling her down the halls.
