Methods to get rid of poison ivy?

Does anyone have any random methods to get rid of poison ivy after you have got it as a skin infection? I have been cursed with the ability to get poison ivy insanely easily, and once I get it, it gets very bad. Sometimes it gets bad enough as to where my eyes swell shut. I would like to prevent this, so any help out there?

I'm not going to be any help, all I can say is I remember when I was younger and I fell on my dirt bike.  Had to get stitches in my leg and shortly after poison ivy showed up, then within the next few days I had a week straight of solid hockey camp (goal tending).

 

The entire lower half of my leg was COVERED in blisters from the poison ivy, the stitches didn't feel that great, and it lasted the whole week.  All I could do was bandage it and try to dry it out with rubbing alcohol (donno if that's recommended, but it's what I did).

 

That stuff... is terrible.
