Avolon looked up from his book a mail pony had put a letter in his mail box. Avolon went to the box and pulled out the letter, The case was a simple white envelope with a crescent on the back. Wait a crescent on the back, That was Nightmare Moons symbol Luna normally used the royal crest obviously this was important she rarely used this crest. Avolon tore open the envelope and the letter said read:

 

Avolon,

You are needed in Canterlot. Meet me in the black magic section of the archives and I will explain from there.

 

Nightmare-

 

That was unusual Avolon thought she used Nightmare instead of Luna. Whatever Avolon Dismissed.

Snowdream glanced out the window and saw the mailpony delivering the mail. She trotted outside to collect the  mail, waving to the mailpony as she continued on her rounds.

 

Snowdream shuffled through the mail, until an envelope with her name scrawled on the front caught her eye. She trotted inside, intrigued by the contents of the envelope. She tore it open and read the letter:

 

Dear Snowdream,

You have been selected to go on an important mission. To learn about this go to Canterlot and meet a small red alicorn and ask him, Could you take me to the to the Canterlot archives wing B and he will take you to a part of the archives where you will learn about the mission.

 

Princess Luna

 

she reached the bottom of the letter, not quite believing that it was actually from the Princess of the Night. She re-read the letter and realised that it wasn't just her imagination. The letter was signed by Luna herself. Snowdream sat down, not quite sure what to think. She was confused, but she knew that this was very important.

Blasted Nova was resting under a tree, catching rays. He woke up to the sight of the mail pony. She gave him a letter from Princess Luna and she flew off. "Luna? What could she want now?" Blast opened up the letter and began to read it.

 

Dear Blasted Nova,

You have been selected to go on an important mission. To learn about this go to Canterlot and meet a small red alicorn and ask him, Could you take me to the to the Canterlot archives wing B and he will take you to a part of the archives where you will learn about the mission.

"Whatever you say, Princess." Blast put the letter away and ran at super sonic speeds to Canterlot. Time to set off on yet another adventure!

[Skitter Run 44]

Skitter Run was walking though Ponyville when he saw a quite famous mailmare fly towards him. Ashe stepped to the the side the mare drop a letter on the ground and kept flying on. Skitter Run bent to pick up the letter to give it back to the mailmare when he saw his name on it.

"-Huh, well then lets give this a read-"

 

 Dear Skitter Run, You have been selected to go on an important mission. To learn about this go to Canterlot and meet a small red alicorn and ask him, Could you take me to the to the Canterlot archives wing B and he will take you to a part of the archives where you will learn about the mission.

 

"-What in tarnation does princess Luna want with me?-"

Thought Skitter Run as he finished the letter.

He then went home, packed as fast as he could and got on the first train he could catch going to Canterlot.

Avolon looked up from his book to see the first train arrive of the day at canterlot from ponyvill. He looked curiously at the passengers unloading from the train from his spot in a large oak tree near the entrance to the canterlot library. Deciding that that his book was more important Avolon went back to reading his book.

Blasted Nova got to Canterlot right when the train stops. He liked running better than riding, anyways. He waited outside of the train to see the other ponies come off. While waiting, he looked at the Canterlot Castle and marveled at it's grace. It wasn't the first time he's been there, but it always catches his eye whenever he's in the city.

Avolon herd a object suddenly stop an object previously going fast. looking up once more he saw a pony in the direction that he herd the sound come from. Putting away his book Avolon looked at the pony and did a long distance magic scan, nothing he started to scan the rest of the ponys in the area, still nothing. Interesting Avolon thought levitating his book back in front of him he looked up super speed spell detection.

Skitter Run hopped off the train and looked around canterot 

" So luna wants me to go to the canterlot archives b... If only I knew where that was."

He Ran off to the castle and the first guard he saw he ask.

"Ok so it's that way"

He ran off to the room on the way thiking about what was happening.

"- What could Luna want and why me, maybe its -"

As he was thinking he crashed into the door to the archive room.

Avolon was interrupted from looking for spells by a crash. Looking down from his perch he glided down wile camouflaging to see the pony that had crashed he did a quick look to see if there was an broken bone, nope that's good at least if this is a part of the team we wont have to deal with a casualty. Un-camoing he looked at the pony.

Blast ran up to the castle entrance. The entrance was being guarded by a few soldiers. "Greetings, fellow stallions." Blast said. "I have been called to Canterlot by princess Luna for a special mission. I request permission to pass." Blast shows the stallions the letter and his ID.

"Certainly. Please enter." The guards get out of the way and Blast dashes inside.

Avolon was caught off guard he herd a sonic boom and saw a streak of something heading in  his direction. letting his instincts take over he camouflaged and flew up in the air just in case he needed to break someones spine.

 

(for the humans sorry the RP is going slow i just need all the ponys to get here before I can get some posting opportunity for you)

"I'm going to be late, I just know it!" Midnight exclaimed as he ran through the streets of Canterlot, only just recently finding the castle where he suspected the archives to be. He remembered earlier that day, he had been tending to his house in the Everfree Forest, patching it up after a recent timberwolf attack, when a letter just fell from the sky. Midnight had been more perplexed when he saw that the letter was addressed to him, even though he had never told anypony where he lived. The letter had said:
 
Dear Midnight Sky,
You have been selected to go on an important mission. To learn about this go to Canterlot and meet a small red alicorn and ask him, Could you take me to the to the Canterlot archives wing B and he will take you to a part of the archives where you will learn about the mission.

which surprised him more to learn that the Equestrian Princess of the Night had chosen him for a mission. Midnight had then left the household in the care of his sister, ran to catch the train in Ponyville, and now found himself completely lost in Canterlot, a city which reminded him too much of his past. He didn't even remember getting into the castle grounds yet here he was, and now he was looking for the archives. Turning around a corner Midnight saw an earth pony run straight into a door. 'Somepony must have somewhere important to be. I wonder if maybe meeting a red alicorn at the behest of a princess is involved. I think I'll just follow him and find out, can't get any more lost than I already am.' For a second Midnight Sky thought he glimpsed a red alicorn looking at the earth pony who had hit the door, but it disappeared so quickly he just dismissed it as a illusion made by his anxious mind.

Avolon realizing that another pony had noticed him disappear he created a bad illusion of himself where he use to be."crap" Avolon cursed a little louder than he intended. coming up with a better idea Avolon looks at the pony sure hope he is here to see me about that mission if not I am SCREWED.

Midnight hadn't even moved before he saw the red alicorn reappear right where it had been. 'Well, I guess it wasn't an illusion, I really did see the red alicorn there. Which means it must know some sort of invisibility or camoflage spell, because that certainly wasn't any form of teleportation I know of. Or maybe it's disappearing was just an illusion, but I doubt that. I suppose I should greet him, don't want to seem rude.' "Um, hi there. I was told to meet a red alicorn around here, would you perhaps be the one I'm supposed to be meeting?" Midnight called up to the red alicorn, though he couldn't help but notice that while he spoke the alicorn had barely moved a single muscle.

"ohh so you are here for that" Avolon say uncloaking above the unicorn. "Do you have the letter." Avolon says in his monotonous voice making the illusion disappear Avolon lands beside the newcomer looking up at the taller pony he waits for the pony to reply to both the illusion vanishing and his appearance. Avolon looks back inadvertently Making sure his tail is covering his flank he did not want to explain his cutie mark. "so how old are you?"

"Yes, I have the letter right here." Midnight said awkwardly while using his magic to levitate the letter out from his saddle bags that his sister had insisted he bring. He was also feeling very self-conscious looking down at the alicorn, the only other alicorns he had ever met in person were his mother and eldest two siblings, who were all quite taller than he was. "As for my age, I'm honestly not entirely sure. There was a rather difficult time in my life where I didn't keep track of time, but I think I might be about 23. What I want to know is, where did you learn those spell! I've never seen any pony use an invisibility spell or an illusion spell! Or did you create those spells, I bet that would've been an interesting experience just like it was when I invented my own spell!" Midnight asked excitedly, forgetting his shyness for a moment.

"the invisibility is not a spell my coat at will turns to match the background and the illusion spell I did make it. It was the first spell that nightmare helped me make." Avolon says keeping his voice low. Avolon lets his tail go to its normal place not covering his flank deciding that the pony was preoccupied. levitating a medallion out of his bag he drops it before the unicorn. "you will need this until we leave Canterlot it allows you to go anywhere you want, with some minor restictions."

"Right, I guess I'll keep that with me then." Midnight said as he levitated the medallion into his bag. "And maybe you could teach me that illusion spell of yours some time, and maybe tell me more about this "Nightmare" who helped you make it and how you coat lets you blend in like you did. But back to the current task, I assume you know why Princess Luna called me here, because I honestly am not even sure how she knew I existed at all." asked Midnight Sky, his shyness gone after the conversation about magic. Midnight also wondered if maybe the princess had called for others to come, surely if this mission was as urgent as it seemed to be, then it would take more than the assistance of a unicorn who has barely even been in Equestria for longer than a year.

"To answer your question Nightmare is my nickname for Nightmare Moon or as she prefers to be called today Princess Luna, and I am not exactly sure how or why my coat changes color but I gave up on trying to find out how a few hundred years ago. And you were called upon because she said that each of us holds the key to the future." Avolon concludes "also we are waiting for a few other ponys to come meet us here so wee will probably be waiting here for a little bit."

"Oh, so Princess Luna was once Nightmare Moon? Sorry about my ignorance, I'm not really from Equestria and spend most of my time in the Everfree Forest, so I'm not very well versed in local lore. Whatever is going on then must certainly be important, so I sure hope more ponies arrive." Midnight said, embarrassed that he hadn't realized the connection sooner, even if he hadn't spent much time reading Equestrian history and legends. 'Great, now I look like a fool. And I told another pony that I'm not from Equestria, I really need to learn on keeping my own secrets secret.'

"So you spend most of your time in the Everfree. Same here not of my free will i was banished by Princess Celesta there for 1000 years and my talent became use full there" Casting a spell on the door Avolon continued "lets head inside and we can start the mission and my spell will help when the other ponys arrive." Avolon opens the door and leads the way to the forbiddon magic in the restricted area of the Canterlot archives.

"Oh, well sorry I guess. Being banished can't be a very pleasant experience." Midnight said before following the red alicorn into the building he assumed was the archives. 'I sure hope some other ponies arrive soon, otherwise this will be one long mission. Although I must admit, I do wish there was time for me to look around a bit. The Canterlot archives would be the perfect place for me to learn all I'll need to know about Equestria, and maybe even some spells! Maybe after this mission I can try to get access again and do some research, just like the old days.'

"it was actually kinda fun and to say the truth celesta could have easily done worse. An attempted assassination of royalty is not something that most princesses take lightly especially if it is themselves that is under risk. and the Everfree is a very interesting place i would rather talk and make spells with my brother but he is not going to be available to talk to for a while" Avolon concludes stopping at a door and opening it heading into the restricted area Avolon sits down on a chair. "make yourself at home, and welcome to the black magic section of the Canterlot archives!"

"Wow, and I thought my past was troubled, but next to that my history just looks like I was just throwing a fit. And when you say make myself at home, does that mean I can read some of this wonderful collection of books? Because if so, I would be glad to." Midnight said, awestruck to be in the presence of so many magic books. 'Forget after the mission, I could start now! So long as it's fine for me to read these, then the others can take all the time they want to show up, it'll just give me more time to read! Though I'm not sure how comfortable I'll be with this pony, attempted assassination of a princess is some serious stuff. Especially when the target was  Celestia, who seems to be loved by everypony. I'll have to look into this some time, even when I leave the royal life I still seem to get involved in politics.'

"Hey are you the red alicorn that i'm suppose to talk to, if so then what's going on and why is princess Luna asking for me and who are you?
