Fhaolan 4,494 August 27, 2013 Share August 27, 2013 Okay, this amuses me, and not for the reasons you probably think. Hasbro has an official MLP YouTube channel that they post adverts and 'music videos' on. http://www.youtube.com/user/mylittlepony?feature=watch A couple of hours ago they posted a series of Equestria Girls music videos up. One of them has been taken down due to a copyright infringement claim by Shout! Factory, the people who are the distributors of Equestria Girls. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ti_lJTpW2hs Yet the other videos from the same movie aren't. http://youtu.be/0rt-epNsrDA The reason this amuses me is that it shows that YouTube's takedowns aren't quite as regular and systematic as is claimed. I doubt someone at Shout! called foul on *Hasbro*, so this is either an over-enthusiastic YouTube employee or an automated script that pulled a false positive. That's a meeting I'd like to be a fly on the wall for, when Hasbro gets the notification and calls up Google and asks 'what the *bleep*, guys?'
Harmonic Revelations 8,837 August 27, 2013 Share August 27, 2013 (edited) Youtube's Copyright detection is automated (But a user can report you manually if they REALLY want to), specific channels actually needed to be added by Youtube to kind of be "Exceptions" (Like Vevo's various channels). Even official channels can get blocked if they don't bother going through the confirmation process with Youtube. Of course, you really shouldn't even bother with it, it's not like there aren't places on the Internet other than Youtube from which you can stream things like music/TV/Movies. Scootalove 10,692 August 27, 2013 Share August 27, 2013 That is so ironic. Hasbro's channel getting blocked by copyright especially when it's their content but, they have to confirm it with Youtube I guess. They have other places to stream it anyway.
