He hesitated, unsure what to say next. Finally with a puff of pride, he replied, "My name is Monkshood". It was odd, often he had refused to bandy his name around with such frequency, yet one question still remained. "I've told you my name miss, but you have yet to to tell me yours", he said with an ever curious look upon about his face.

She looked back at him, quietly, thoughtfully. It took her a moment, but she did respond. "Evergreen. My name is Eve."

The Star Rose's petals closed about halfway, resulting in it looking rather shy and meek. She mirrored it in the shy smile she gave Monkshood, before looking away quickly to stare at the fire again.

"So Eve, what brings you to the camp?" He spoke in a softer tone this time, as he sensed the shyness in her voice. He circled around her trying to remain within her line of vision. The more she spoke, the further his interest grew within this young mare. "You don't seem like the kind of mare, who would suddenly have a desire to come to a camp", Monkshood responded further.

Eve shrugged. Her eyes seemed to have fixated on a point over Monkshood's shoulder for the moment. "I... My friends..." she began, then shook her head, as if clearing it. She then looked straight at the colt. "My friends seem to think it a good idea to get me out and about sometimes, so they sign me up for all sorts of things, like this camp. They even tried to get me to go on a cruise once." She shuddered at the thought.

"Ironic, then that they would sign you up for something such as this. There is so many paths not yet tread by pony-kind surrounding the grounds, yet amidst it all there is probably more to be discovered",  he spoke with a sense of longing for the woodlands beyond the camp grounds. It was clear that his affinity was linked to the natural world.

Eve smiled wistfully. "Isn't it? This place... It almost feels like I never left home." She looked around at the trees, thoughtfully. "Well, maybe I have," she murmured, looking over at Parso and Ceres and Wish. "But they're not too different from Ragtag and Cascade, I suppose..."

Blazing sat down, slowly getting to know ponies names. He made sure to seem happy and friendly so that nopony suspected anything, but for a second he made the mistake of looking back towards the forest again. Crap! They're going to find out aren't they? He thought frantically. It was obvious that he was just overreacting, but it was a bad habit of his that he had never been able to break.

Monkshood sighed, as he began to move closer to the heat of the flame. "And where is it that you call home"? Seemingly quizzing Evergreen about her life, but before he allowed her to respond he continued on with his speech. "Is it not stifling to be restrained to one space? The natural world is always growing, and always changing".

Eve had already been halfway through inhaling in preparation for telling this almost complete stranger about her garden, but hesitated as he went on to rant about change. "Who said anything about being restrained?" she asked, surprised. "I get out all the time to experience nature. And I always bring back exotic specimens to my garden, so I can breed them and... hopefully... have enough to be able to go out and do it again." She shrugged.

Monkshood face went red with embarrassment. He meant no harm, but apparently his words were nearly as venomous as hemlock to this mare. Hoping to relax her, he calmly replied. "I meant no offence, I assure you. I only meant, that are you not afraid of missing something whilst you relax? With the amount change that occurs, whether be it by pony-kind or by nature's whim, there is always more to see and do". Stopping his constant movement, he just looked at her with a fleeting gaze.

He glanced back at the fire. Pondering the second part of Evergreen's speech. Finally, he responded, "I find it rather intriguing you travel for your plants, do you not have troubles growing some breeds? Many botanist's can only hope to recreate their habitat, but sometimes they are unable to, no matter their efforts. You claimed earlier, that the seeds of your Rose appeared to be fickle. Could it be that you simply lack something found exclusively within the Crystal Empire"? These words were spoken in a more polite tone than he was accustomed to. Hoping that it would reel back some of the mare's unprecedented anger.

@,@,

Parso felt better that the conflict between Eve and Ceres had stopped, for now. he began to help with the stick and handed them to everypony, he then opened the bag of marshmallows and openly shared it across the campers

"righty-o, getchya marshies here"

he then sat down next to Wish

"so Wish, how was it back home? was it something to enjoy?"

Glancing mistrustfully at the haughty unicorn one last time, Wish turned her attention back to Parso.

"I guess so..." Wish sighed in response. "... I mean, the family and everypony from the nearby farms were all great but it was just so quiet. Nothing ever happened." She said wistfully, spearing a stick through one of the snacks and jamming the other end into the ground. "So I've been meaning to leave when I can - go exploring, see Equestria - my stuffs all packed, ready from when I get home from this place!"

"you sound like ya eager to go, but when you do, what do you hope to find, what do you hope to see?"

Parso smiled at his friend whilst stabbing a marshmallow with a stick and placing it over the fire

"or, you're like me, don't know where I'm going and don't know what will happen. there's a reason behind that, but I'll tell you later"

"Maybe you could tell me when we go flying again?" Wish smirked at her own joke before looking thoughtful.

"There's someone I need to find. So I guess I'm not really going to wander aimlessly but... I don't exactly know where they might be." She explained as best as she could without going into too much detail."It's not really a long story, but I'll tell you later." She added jokingly.

"I'm kinda the same there..." Pelate speaks up, he didn't know why buy it felt like that for him. But not understanding what it meant, it was an odd feeling. "There are few specific points that apply to that but, it doesn't madder." Pelate says jabbing a marshmallow with a jagged stick.

Pelate was confused *find somepony? Does she mean somepony is lost?* he made a puzzled look but he didn't want to ask, it wasn't a good time.

"Don't worry, I wasn't offended," Eve muttered. "And yes, the seeds are fickle, but that's mostly due to the fact I've never dealt with seeds of crystal before. That doesn't mean I'm never going to be able to make it work." She smiled faintly. "It's like a pet project. And most plants can be grown outside their natural habitats if you get the conditions right. You know, the right soils, the right temperatures, the right rainfalls..."

She gazed at him. "You're nomadic, then?" She shrugged. "Honestly, I like a quiet life. That's why I stay home a lot. Why I stay in my garden. In Eden."

(Eden is the name of her garden. I just thought that that was too good a reference to pass up.)

"maybe I will next time we go flying"

he chuckled a little before taking his marshmallow away from the fire and eating the toasted, gooey deliciousness

"sounds like an int'restin' story, maybe you could tell me yours when we go flying next as well"

'Is everypony here a wanderer?'  Ceres' ears had been swiveling, giving her the best possible quality of sound.  She had taken the marshmallows offered by Parso and stuck it on the end of the stick she had charred.  Gently roasting the marshmallow to a golden brown, Ceres ate it off the stick and added another.

However, Ceres did catch one particular detail that caught her curiosity.  She cocked her head over to gaze at Wish, and said, "You went... flying?"

Wish grinned sheepishly at the question, glancing at Parso. "Yeah, flying - It was great! I mean, a little bit terrifying at first, but great!"

She took the 'mallow out of the fire and gave an uneasy glance at the charred black object speared on the end of the stick: it could hardly pass for food anymore, but after a cautionary sniff, she ate it anyway.

'Blech. I knew cooking wasn't exactly my specialty but burning marshmallows? Thats a new low...'

After possibly the least delicious minute of her life to date, she explained. "Well, Parso was flying - I was mostly just holding on and looking at stuff."

The gray Pegasus had a straight face by then, he was motionless but then he snaps back into reality, when he notices his marshmallow is burnt, he scowls at it "damn it." He mumbled. "Oh, I don't doubt your ability to grow something outside of its natural habitat. I merely stated that many ponies difficulty growing certain plants outside of it". Monkshood remarked with a slight chuckle. "In fact, I had a greenhouse for my work before. When I was young my mentor had built one for me, yet I always found it a poor facsimile, in comparison to the raw elegance provided by nature herself," stating with a slight grin upon his face.

He noticed that Eve began to raise her eyes towards him, and responded by glancing back at her. "I guess you could call me a nomad if you wish, but I've never seen myself like that. I've tried to settle down, yet I am always drawn to the back towards the unknown," he sighed. "You should feel lucky for your home and garden 'Eden'. I'm sure it's truly magnificent".

Staring off into the forming night sky, he began to claim, "You say that you prefer the quiet life, but the open road is the quietest life I've seen. Even the meekest of villages usually have something worth noting. I have no problem with it, yet sometimes the lack of others can grate on even the fairest of temperaments". Monkshood began to mildly chuckle at what he just said. Laughing only at the thought of how many times he had longed for someone to talk to about his journeys.

'Huh? Something's wrong with Pelate?' Wish squinted over in his direction - in hindsight he did look a little distressed about something or other.

"What's wrong Pelate?" She said, her voice not quite fully losing its brightness after discussing her morning flight as she scooted closer to the pegasus so that they weren't shouting across the clearing.
