but what the heck is an oc?

and how can I get one?

An OC is the so called Original character

TO get one of these "OC" all you have to do is take some time and develop a character and use it

An OC is an Original Character. You create the character's personality, looks, backstory, and everything else about your character.

An OC is an original character developed by yourself with all the details mentioned above already. You can add as many as you want, whether these concern major issues, like appearance, personality, story; or more trivial matters, like favorite color, food, workplace. Basically, possibilities are endless.

 

OC's are mainly used in roleplaying, although they may also take form of 'ponysonas', which generally are reflections of ourselves if we were turned into ponies, with all the flaws, positive aspects, appearance etc included.

 

Then, there are also people who just like that kind of creativity and come up with OC ideas purely for the fun they derive from writing :>
