(Google Chrome) Rainbow Dash Google Plugin

I learnt how to make a Google Chrome plugin just for this...

 

I got the idea from  from this status update. Quite funny actually - I said that it would probably be possible to make a Google Chrome plugin for this.

 

I am quite surprised how quickly I took to this Google Chrome plugin system though. Probably cause it is mainly Javascript, which I've already got experience with.

 

However, this is still a work in progress.

 

Current issues:

• Only works with Google.com, not Google.com.au or Google.com.uk, etc. This is because the code is different across the different Googles, so I have to make separate code for each of them. I will try and get more of them working soon.
• Not on the Google Webstore. Sadly, Google makes you pay for a $5 developer license to put stuff on the Google Webstore.

 

How to install:

1. Download the plugin with the download button above.
2. Open your Google Chrome extensions page (chrome://extensions)
3. Drag the downloaded plugin onto your extensions page.
4. You'll then be prompted if you want to add it to Google Chrome - click yes.
5. Done! Goto google.com to see your new awesome Google!

Not working?

Google logo not turning into Rainbow Dash? It is probably because Google updated their webpage, and is now incompatible with my plugin. Usually when Google changes their webpage - my plugin should continue to work.

If this happens - just leave a message here.

 

Manual way.

Just thought I'd post this on this thread - but you can also temporarily change (will reset on next page refresh) the Google logo. This only works on google.com though.

1. Open your browsers Javascript console (here is how).
2. Type in this code: document.getElementById("hplogo").src = "http://i.imgur.com/KXHzaNz.png";
3. Hit enter.

Done! When you next refresh the page it will reset though.

I highly recommend Google Chrome - you can get awesome My Little Pony themes, extensions (like PonyHoof).

 

Plus it is really fast and stuff.

Just might point out that it will only work on Google.com - not any country specific Google sites like Google.com.au.

 

Although you live in America so your local Google should just be Google.com - but if you tried to go on a country specific one - that could be why.

If I type google.com it reroutes me back to google.rs
