Techie mumbles to himself. Listening very closely to all the chatter taking place. Looking at the intricate designs of old paintings on the wall he pondered to himself... Did he forsee this?

Suit twister gazed at Techie with worry in his eyes "This one sees with the unseen eye, that which is to come.. Hmm heh. You know something.. don't you?" Twister, being right next to Techite, could hear his thoughts, as though he were speaking to him directly.

Suit Twister tilts his head to the side, staring crazily at Techie with one eye for a moment. "Worry not.. hehehyour secrets lie within my vaults.. Nopony dares open those, they can't handle it for very long. Hehehe! He grins.

 

The guard looked down at Techie and Suit, then to Sound Thought. "Well? What's the verdict? You stayin or ain't yeh? And what were yer names by the way? I got Media 'ere, and that weird one in the back is Suit Twister, cause 'E keeps sayin' it."

Sound thought was now right in front of the guard. "I think I will be staying. These ponies seem interesting enough one to many bishops though, but numbers aren't important. Oh and thank you for doing you job so well. You've saved quite a few ponies from the cold."  It hurt him slightly, but he reach out his hooves to shake the guards. There was nothing in them and there was no trick or concealed weapon. A thought from his old chess tutor rang throughout his head. "Shake hands with your opponent, be polite."

The guard nodded to Sound Thought, and shook his hoof, warily. He turned to the path leading up the courtyard, and looked at the group over his shoulder. "Right then.. Let's get moving, there isn't any time to lose. We need to get you all equipped, the changelings are nearly upon us. Nopony will survive unarmed, so let's go." With that he began trotting up the cobblestone road.

 

The walls around the fortress began to glow brilliantly, the silhouettes of hundreds of unicorns could be seen, dotting the tops of the walls. Each of them expelling magic, which began forming into a shield. It began climbing up over the walls, and formed a dome over the whole area. Things were beginning to get serious.

Sound thought followed closely behind the guard, cursing the thing he always hated in these games. 'Luck'. These game were about strategy, planing, controlling your enemies movements. "Then there's that accursed factor called luck," He thought out loud. He looked back and sighed, then continued his trotting behind the guard. "At least it really didn't get it on my seeds." To most others this would sound like mad rambling, but usually most didn't pay him any mind.

 

Once they were a safe distance away, and in a place where sound couldn't be blamed, he heard the sound of rocks falling over. Sound hid his anger. He had taken so many misleading steps, and that was the last of the potion he had. "It was all too simple," he thought, "And now I suffer a wound. The vial in my bag was suppose to break and my fall was suppose to cover the sound. The potion would have quickly corrode the castles surrounding walls. Then stone from his post would have been his burial... At least it warms my heart knowing someone died."

Media followed close behind the guard, taking close notice of his surroundings. Run down structure, the tension that reeked throughout the fortress, and the huge shield that was just forming as they walked through. He also noticed his companions were....different. He seemed to be the only average pony around, and he could easily tell everything was wrong about this situation, he didn't belong here. Alas, he couldn't necessarily say no either.

Suit Twister had become interested in Sound Thought's mumbling. He tuned into this, and spoke quietly to him, so the guard wouldn't hear. "As a guest in the house of cards and glass, be wary of throwing stones." He said simply, and looked at him worriedly "Sound Thought entertains some dark intentions.. be careful what you choose.. we're all stuck in this boat for a time now. Hmmhmm."
