Why did Twilight use dark magic on Zecora's potion?

This made me think of something. When was the last time Twilight saw a vision? When she used dark magic on Sombra's door! To see a vision, true or false, requires dark magic. That's why she used it.

That could be true - but that was an evil door. =\

 

I don't know. I suppose it is probably a question that only the writers/animators could answer.

Ah, but the door was only evil when dark magic was cast on it. When Twilight used light magic, it opened properly.

Wasn't that the other way around? I think it was?

When light magic was cast on the door - it wouldn't open, it would give you a nightmare vision, but when dark magic is used, it would open - probably as an extra layer of security.

Then she sees the vision, which Spike breaks her out of, and then she uses her normal magic (light) to open the door:

See, Spike's there now, he wasn't there in the earlier picture.
