Tough Luck gained no more information about his mother than he did before, except that Charon did not like her. He looked over the side of the boat at the River Styx and lost himself in the water. He did not even know what he was doing here. For all he knew this was a dream and soon he would wake up back on the farm in New Hoofshire with his dad, lonely again, and friendless. He knew this was not the time to get down on himself, right before they may need him in a fight, but he couldn't help himself.

(Alrighty, seems like I'm playing Hades)

Charon got up from his seat, picked the staff up in his mouth and propelled the crew forward. "Okay. I've only got time for a few more questions before we get to Hades Castle. Your dad actually did talk about you when I saw him last. He was quite proud of you. Blacky Pie, the last time I saw your dad was last night for one of his parties. He seemed extra jolly last night so that was a good thing."

 

Gareth raised his head to say something. "This may come as a shock to you but that bag of bones is my dad." Yup, now that he's said it, he'll wait for the inevitable shock of surprise.

Blacky pie jumps around. "Yay dad threw a part last night woohoo"

"That's actually a good one. Come on son, he's right. Think up something better than 'bag of bones'." Charon actually encouraged his son to make jokes about him.

 

"Okay, okay. I think I got one. Let me start over. Hey guys, I got something to say. This is my dad. The only known fossil to survive the extinction of the dinosaurs."

"Ohhhh that was just cold" He bust out laughing. "Or he could be fidos best chew toy" He chuckles a little.

 

Blacky pie chimes in. "well atleast he isnt spineless" He starts chuckling and snorting he was laughing so hard.

Tough Luck heard the other ponies making jokes about Charon, but he wasn't in the mood to make jokes. He continued to stare over the water wondering if he'd ever meet his mother, or better yet if he would ever leave this place that smelled of the dead, if he didn't keep his act together down here that might indeed happen.

Both Gareth and Charon burst out laughing.

"I know I'm the bone of the joke but can you guys think up of anything better? I mean seriously." Charon chuckled.

 

"Hey dad? What do you say when you start a meal?" Gareth asked, hoping his dad would catch the start of the joke.

 

"Why I say bone appetite! It's always a classic at one of Dionysius's parties."

Eternity couldn't help but snigger at their banter. She was still next yo Blacky Pie, watching him bounce around adorably. She had decided that she wanted to be friends with him.

 

She had been quiet for most of the trip, having a small amount of anxiety building up. Even though she couldn't see the ceiling, she knew they were "technically" underground, and her clausterphobia was setting in.

Blacky pie smiles at eternity and starts hopping around eternity. "Ooooo Maybe he has a BONNE to pick with us" he chuckles and then laughs.

 

Skies was actually relaxed. "Or maybe he could be a bonified god" he chuckles "boniffied"

"Or maybe he could be a living dinosaur that survived extinction. Wait, I've already used that one. Oh man, I can't think of anything else." Gareth moaned. He had moved up to the back of the boat instead of sitting at the front. If Charon had tear ducts then he would be crying with laughter by now.

Eternity was a bit wary of this new pony who was so chummy with charon. She very rarly met monsters and such that wereas nice as this. She stuck close to blacky, being jostled every once in a while by his energetic bouncing.

 

"So... how are we planning on getting past the judges exactly?" The last thing she wanted was a slip up to end them in the feilds of punishment.

Charon' laughter died almost immediately. "You've already passed them. When they saw that you were still alive and with me they let us through. Evrypony, please stop you're laughing because we're at Hades Castle." Charon slowed to a stop in front of the steps and waitedfor everypiny to get off. Gareth had calmed down slightly and hopped off the boat, waiting at the top of the steps for everypony else.

Eternity trotted down the steps after him. She would mame up for her recent battle incident s by being as brave as possible in the underworld. She lifted her wings and puffed out her chest as she strutted past Gareth, trying to show him that she wasn't some filly scared of the dark.

 

"We just waltz into the castle huh?" She grinned "sounds like fun!"

"No, we just sort of walk in. Besides, why would you even think of dancing at a time like this?" Gareth asked. He still sat on the steps, looking over to the Fields of Elysium. He couldn't see anypony from this far away so he just settled with looking at the fields as a whole.

"It was a figure of speech..." she mumbled. But she didn't let that get her down. She decided to get to know this pony.

 

"Hey"she said "I'm Eternity." She extended her hoof, trying to be friendly. "I didn't quite get the chance to introduce myself." Her wings flapped a bit.

Gareth shook her hoof. "Hi. I'm Gareth but didn't we meet each other on the train?" Gareth wondered. Did going to the Underworld make you lose your memory or something? He didn't think so but it may have been something else entirely. He stood up and started to pace back and forth along the step.

"Well, I guess we did..." she dropped her ears in embarassment. "Anyways... so what's your story?" She wondered. She wanted to try and be friends with him. It was the least she could do. She wasn't good at socializing, but she was getting better. She just had to suck it up and talk to ponies.

Gareth blinked. "Uuh my story? Well, my mum died in a fire when I wa a foal. I stayed in an orphange until I ran away when I was fifteen. I found Camp Half-Blood purely by chance when I was running away from a monster. Charon had claimed me after a year of staying at Camp Half-Blood and on the same day he told me to go and find him in the Underworld. Apparently he wanted to give me something. But what about you? What's your story?" Gareth felt uneasy after saying that for some reason.

Eternity nodded at his story. "Well, my dad lived with just me for most of my life. Then he got a girlfriend who ended up being some sort of freaky gorgon. I killed her, and my dad finnaly saw what she was. He got a new girlfriend, but she was a mortal mare. And... well, long story short they're dead now." She looked at her hooves "I suppose you could say it was my fault. Anyways, I ran away, and have been running ever since, untill this band of rouges picked me up a few days ago."

Gareth sighed and nodded at her story.

"Band of rogues? Okay, but that's not what I would call them." Gareth turned around at the voice.

"Who are you?" Gareth asked. The pony that came out if the castle looked like a mare.

"Why do you need to know? Besides, I'd call that group a bunch of freaks." The black mare said.

 

(I gotta get to school. Be back in about six-seven hours)

"Hey"Eternity snapped at the new mare. "Thoes are my friends. You better waych yourself" she braced herself, spreading her wings to their full size, daring her to sat other wise. Nopony was going to diss her new friends, and she would challenge anypony who did.

Grell stepped of the boat "watch it you may be eternal but that doesn't mean I can't kill you" grell said

Leif rolled his eyes and he walked up to her "relax we don't want to fight if we don't have to" Leif said he looked like his dad he pulled out his pan flute and sat down "please let me play you a song" Leif Said

"Well she better watch herself" Eternity growled "I'm not afraid to fight." She trotted over to leif, standing slightly behind him, trying to calm down. "I just... don't like bullies" she mumbled. She scraped her hoof on the ground, drawing a frowny face. Sometimes she couldn't help her anger.

Minx stepped back into the shadows and appeared behind the filly drawing the frowny face. "You sure you want to challenge me?" She quietly laughed and walked back to the spot she was "I can even take on Posiedon's son." She grinned maliciously.
