In my view of Lyra, she is an Irish Lyrist and Harpist of Greek ancestry. In my view of BraeBurn, he is a Western American of Mexican and Scottish ancestry, In my view of Scootaloo, she is a Belgian student with a German Mother.

Twi is a nerdy University student that people only know from class.
Applejack is a country girl who dropped out of school and works on a minnonite farm.
Rainbow Dash is a sporty jocky girl.

They're all white. I think that's what we're getting at here. Only Zecora is a character that I see as a race other than caucasian.

Rainbow Dash is an all-around athlete who competes in the Olympics representing USA. She's won many gold medals. 

 

Octavia is a classical British young lady who plays cello. She has actaully played for the Queen herself.

 

Fluttershy is one of the top biologists in North America. 

 

Rarity is an elegant British lady who is in fact the top fashion designer of the decade.

To create Mane Six, writers took some common stereotypes and filled them with complexity to get real characters.

What you suggest is just to shrink them back to stereotypes.

Like "Twilight must be an asian, because, you know, asians are nerdy and good at maths".

I'm going to try and say what my closest views of the mane six are.

 

Twilight Sparkle: An honours student who is working really hard to be the best and stay on the top of the class.

Pinkie Pie: An energetic party thrower who just likes to be around and is everyone's friend.

Rainbow Dash: Someone who is really athletic and hangs around the popular crew.

Fluttershy: Someone who is obviously really quiet and really likes working around animals.

Applejack: A southern girl who really likes making a living out of working at the family barn.

Rarity: A rich girl who is into all of the latest fashion trends and wants to always look really nice.
