Slice0Pie 815 December 1, 2013 Share December 1, 2013 I think I improved a bit.. maybe.. Oh and I usually draw with a mouse. Someone suggested I practice with a bamboo tablet, since I have one but never use it. So, I sighed, got up, got it, plugged it in, and started using it. At first, I was not used to it at all, but I still used it. So, ya, what do you think? Please, please, PLEASE give me advice on how to improve, or advice, but before you do, this is just a certain style of mine, if you can tell, since the eyes, muzzle, and ears are different. Princess Lona 382 December 1, 2013 Share December 1, 2013 I looked at some of your other drawings that you did with a mouse and I think you are better with the mouse. But maybe you could do the rough drawing with the tablet and then smooth out the details using the mouse. Just my opinion as a viewer, I can't draw on the computer at all so everything of yours is better than what I could do. 1 My OC, Tabula.
iceestarz 5,768 December 1, 2013 Share December 1, 2013 First off, using a tablet takes some getting used to so don't fret about that.(I've never had one before so I'm going off what people normally say.) second, the criticism. Your style is very unique, I like that about your drawings, but everything(even the best pictures) can always be improved in some way or another. It could just be the fact you're not used to the tablet yet, but your lines on the outside of the body and mane sometimes get sharp or wobbly. If you have trouble keeping your hand steady I would suggest using adobe illustrator(I think that's what I used on a couple digital vector things) it makes all your lines smooth even while using a mouse, (but it would take a long time to do, more so than just using a tablet) the neck could be thinned out a bit, seems too thick. The tail could also be put up a little higher on her butt.(just a little) perhaps even adding the highlights to the iris would help with the eye appearance. Oh and Scootaloo's hair is more of a pinkish color(like a magenta not purple) -also I drew Scootaloo somewhat in an attempt to mimic your style(obviously a bit different though) because your style is pretty cute-
Frith is Magick 1,471 December 1, 2013 Share December 1, 2013 Your hand-drawn art is good, but it doesn't seem to translate well digitally. Did you freehand this one or vector something that you drew first on paper? I can't give you any tips about digital art, but I think vectoring hand-drawn art would be good practice. Scootaloo.png I guess I could give you some general advice taken form my own personal experience. Now depending on what tablet you are using I would suggest setting up pressure sensitivity on it, it can really help with line work as well as shading and opacity. Other than that a tablet just takes time getting use to, this coming form someone who actually uses a tablet. Now when it comes to making your work look a bit more quality I would recommend starting off with an sketch first. The sketch itself does not have to be super detailed or refined, just enough to put the idea on the page. If you are using a program that has a layer function take advantage of it. The next step would be adding another layer on top and drawing a refined and detailed version over the original sketch. Then, you put down some base colors that you want to use as shadow. The last step would to go over you base colors and start adding highlights, shading. This will give your drawings and painting much more depth.
