StarF 0 December 30, 2011 Share December 30, 2011 Music is my favorite thing in the world, so I do believe I'll start a music thread! So let's talk about music. What's your favorite genre? What's an artist you've recently discovered? What music would you like to know more about? I am currently listening to an EP from an artist known as "Will Post" that I have never heard before. I just discovered it tonight while listening to Captain Podcast. It's actually pretty great, sort of a driving synth-pop EP, and it was available for free too! My favorite genres are rap, nerdcore, punk, and ska. Some of my favorite artists from each: Rap: Sage Francis, Atmosphere, Astronautalis Nerdcore: MC Frontalot, The Grammar Club, MadHatter, and... well, it's really not fair for me to even choose favorites from this genre since I'm pretty much submerged into the middle of it. Punk: Bomb The Music Industry!, The Taxpayers, ASOB Ska: Streetlight Manifesto, Chewing on Tinfoil, Chicken Poodle Soup Also, as long as I'm talking about music, this seems relevant to post: <3 StarF You can get my newest album for free, along with a bunch of other cool free music at Scrub Club Records! Markarian 0 January 1, 2012 Share January 1, 2012 Oh, music! *earperks* Well, you'll be pleased to know that both Bejoty and I are musicians and we plan to not only make Everfree a welcoming place for musicians, but also to plan a rich and fun music track. About myself, I've played the piano for over 20 years and I'm getting into composing for independent films. My favorite genres are contemporary classical, classic rock, and psychedelic rock. My favorite bands are the Moody Blues, Phish, Jethro Tull, Porcupine Tree, and Pink Floyd. My favorite composer is James Horner. It's nice to meet other Bronies interested in music Do you know you're all my very best friends?
BlankFlankBrony 0 January 1, 2012 Share January 1, 2012 Hey, someone else who likes Jethro Tull! I like a wide variety of music, but my favorite genres are various forms of electronica, rock (particularly classic rock), filk/dementia, and RenFaire songs. In terms of making music, I'm a dabbler at best. I sing enthusiastically, but not necessarily well. Founder of the Spokane Brony Meetup Group. Join us! Look, a moose! MrBlueCheese 0 January 3, 2012 Share January 3, 2012 We could have a music booth? I was thinking (and i could possibly run it, with the help of other ponies) of having a booth dedicated to musician's music (all the music at the booth is prerecorded, so it doesn't conflict with the music provided by the live musicians). Have a power-point type of thing go on where it plays through the different songs, and each song has its own unique QR code. The QR code would then link to the musician's webpage where they can listen to the song on their smartphone, or follow up on the musician). I could set it up so that it runs automatically, and would only need to be checked upon every once and a while. What do you think?

MrBlueCheese 0 January 5, 2012 Share January 5, 2012 Hmm, if enough people like my idea, i might head up it at the event as well. If you have specific pony-related music that you like, you can either post it or contact me directly, and I'll work with the artist(s) to have them featured at the convention (booth). SniperJolly 0 January 6, 2012 Share January 6, 2012 As the convention nears, we may get some big names in pony music coming out. I think a live performance of some form is in order.

Markarian 0 January 6, 2012 Share January 6, 2012 We're going to have access to both a grand piano, and possibly an 88-key keyboard for everypony to jam on too. Do you know you're all my very best friends?
MrBlueCheese 0 January 7, 2012 Share January 7, 2012 On that 88-key keyboard...can you change the individual keys so that it plays different sounds? If you could, this would be a great chance to configure a set of keys that plays pony related things...
Markarian 0 January 7, 2012 Share January 7, 2012 It would require a computer, which would honestly be easier just using a Soundboard. Do you know you're all my very best friends?

Much dancing was done. Awesome people. (Pony IRC channel)

Guest January 17, 2012 Share January 17, 2012 Iknorite!? I went to their show in Stanley Park for a big event in summer (I think it was Vancouver's 125th birthday) and it was SO much fun. Much dancing was done. That music festival side of the Vancouver 125 was EPIC. Although when I went, I had only heard of Hey Ocean (obviously) and Said the Whale. I've still yet to see Dan Mangan live, which is one of the highest on my list. Of course, now I have a solid handful of Vancouver indie artists that I'm dying to see!
