Bejoty 0 January 17, 2012 Share January 17, 2012 Iknorite!? I went to their show in Stanley Park for a big event in summer (I think it was Vancouver's 125th birthday) and it was SO much fun. Much dancing was done. That music festival side of the Vancouver 125 was EPIC. Although when I went, I had only heard of Hey Ocean (obviously) and Said the Whale. I've still yet to see Dan Mangan live, which is one of the highest on my list. Of course, now I have a solid handful of Vancouver indie artists that I'm dying to see! Vinyl Scratch the DJ 0 January 18, 2012 Share January 18, 2012 More of a classic rock man myself. Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd (Just spent $240 for tickets to see Roger Waters live in Seattle late may), Queen, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, ACDC, Rush, Three Dog Night, etc etc. Somewhat recently started getting into more electronic music (partly thanks to ponies), so I now have quite the collection of dubstep. Datsik, Kromestar, Capsa, Excision, Rusko, and such. Deadmau5 is also good. Just another brick in the wall. ~Scratch
S_E_F 0 January 18, 2012 Share January 18, 2012 I am reminded, assuming I attend I might be able to bring a 20 channel soundboard/mixer/whatever you want to call it. It would make it very easy to avoid what happened an BroNYCon during the Daniel Ingram skype session or make music setup more efficient. If such a thing were needed, that is. I will have to be attending a conference in Vancouver at almost the exact same time as EverfreeNW. I will attend next year when I won't have to worry about such things. Schlagwerk 0 January 18, 2012 Share January 18, 2012 We're going to have access to both a grand piano, and possibly an 88-key keyboard for everypony to jam on too. I don't know if this is the right place to talk gear, but for live performances, what about drumsets, amps, PAs, that sort of thing? I am reminded, assuming I attend I might be able to bring a 20 channel soundboard/mixer/whatever you want to call it. It would make it very easy to avoid what happened an BroNYCon during the Daniel Ingram skype session or make music setup more efficient. If such a thing were needed, that is. From what I hear Everfree Radio didn't get the mixing done properly but also didn't get any time to do real setup, dry runs, etc... As much as I want to place blame on them for it BroNYCon was turning itself inside out by lunchtime.

As much as I want to place blame on them for it BroNYCon was turning itself inside out by lunchtime. That makes more sense. I have had to do some setups when I only had 5 minutes and no test runs, and as you would expect they were very rough. I've since gotten to know the board very well and it'd be easier to do a fast setup now. It's a Mackie SR24*4 VLZ pro, late 1990s build. It takes mono phono, rca and xlr; has preamps, phantom power source, 8 way EQ and is relatively easy to understand. I assume most of the microphones will be xlr to mono phono, but if they all use xlr to xlr I have an 18 channel stage extension too. manual http://www.mackie.com/pdf/archive/sr24-4_sr32-4_om.pdf specs http://www.mackie.com/pdf/sr24vlzpro_ss.pdf I will have to be attending a conference in Vancouver at almost the exact same time as EverfreeNW. Typh 0 January 19, 2012 Share January 19, 2012 I've had my hand at a pony-themed track; http://soundcloud.com/nick-porter/har-d ... gle-at-the Not too great, but I'm proud of it. Currently working on a few more different ideas in both electronic and flute form. For other stuff I love; MictheMicrophone is amazing. So is TheLivingTombstone. AlexS+Omnipony are sweet. Archie V had a cool Becoming Popular mix. PinkiePieSwear was my inspiration to make pony music, man. Underpony made an awesome remix of Sunshine and Celery Stalks. DJNight-Mare 0 January 20, 2012 Share January 20, 2012 I got some pony music. And the equipment to play a live show. I got the same equipment as Alex S. So, it'd be like the show he did at BroNYCon. No live instruments or anything, just like turntables and a mixer (Traktor s2, to be exact.) http://www.youtube.com/user/NightMareMo ... ature=mhee I'm going to get really pony with the next of my songs. Like voice clips and stuff.
Guest January 21, 2012 Share January 21, 2012 S_E_F and DJNight-Mare: If you have equipment you'd like to donate to the con to borrow for the weekend, DEFINITELY let us know! Email events@everfreenw.com with what you can offer. This sort of thing is essential to bringing costs down and therefore providing an even better convention for all. There's even a good chance of receiving compensation for your help.

ZeroHero 0 January 27, 2012 Share January 27, 2012 For my music idea, i was thinking of posting this on a screen/monitor/tablet next to the artist playing. For example (Hey Ocean): Ideas. You have good ones. Lets see. Music is basically one of my top 3 love interests of my life (next to ponies and gaming), so over the years I've gone through stages of different genres that i was really into. Some have survived the trip and have found special places in my heart, others like a flickering flames on a cold breezy night, they are here then gone. :3 My favorite genres as of now, to this day are: Heavy Metal (specifically Power/Speed Metal & some heavy/alternative metal here and there), Drum and Bass, and Dubstep. Like i said before, my tastes have undergone some changes over the years, but those three have expanded within themsleves and a few artists/groups within each respective field are considered my favorites of all time. However, since I'm enjoying this post far more than i think i should :3, I'm going to divide each genre and reveal my favorite groups in each. I'll narrow it down to my top 3 for simplicity's sake. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Metal: #3. Stratovarius (Power Metal group from Finland, been around since the 80s. One of the most prolific bands of the Power Metal scene in europe, these guys are one of the biggest bands of the genre. Still making great fantasy inspired music, even after years of playing.) #2. Five Finger Death Punch (Heavy Metal band from L.A. Yes, a little extreme for most people, even Im suprised i like them so much, but somedays I need a good hard headbanning. These guys deliver.) #1. Alter Bridge (A very underrated Alt. Metal/Hard Rock band from Florida, remnants of the band Creed, but without their crappy vocalist. :3 These boys suprised me when i first heard of them. They play amazing songs all all their albums. Their guitar work is simply astounding, vocals are fantastic, and the only thing holding them back is a severe lack of public view. Too few people have actually heard of these guys, and that needs to change. They deserve more considering their talent.) Drum & Bass #3. ShockOne (A very talented DJ from Australia, he's got serious skills in making your toes tap and head bob to rythmic beats. Easily one of the industries' best) #2. The Prodigy (probably one of the most noted groups in the D&B scene, these guys have made some of the most recognized tunes of electronic music in the last 10 years.) #1. Pendulum (easily my most listened to group in electronic music behind the guy who takes first place in my Dubstep category. :3 Hailing from Perth, Australia, this group performs some of my most listened to songs EVAR! They have a side project called Knife Party which is just as sweet. Check both those out. Now.) Dubstep #3. Excision (A dubstep producer from right here in Canada :3, he has some very interesting styles to bring. His most noted song as of late is Existence VIP, which was featured in the recent pony animation Epic Pie Time.) #2. Enter Shikari (while not strictly Dubstep, they use alot of it's elements in thier music so i count them as such here. From England, this group has gone relatively unknown here in the west, only having played here twice as far as I know. Too bad too, they are quite good.) #1. Skrillex (everypony has heard of this guy. if you listen to any electronic music, you know you this dude is. He is the Prince of Dubstep, quickly turning the genre from an underground club style of music to a main stream line of well known beats. He has made the most widely known dubstep tracks in his short career and remixed many others. Even if you don't like Dubstep, chances are you know who Skrillex is. :3) So there you have it, everpony. My top groups from my top genres. :3 Interested to hear of everpony else's favs, myself.

SodiumHydroxide 0 July 3, 2012 Share July 3, 2012 I'm weird, cause I don't know much normal music, but I've gotten quite into pony music and I love it, and i'm starting to get into making it, though I doubt I would have anything worthy of the convention or even recognition by the time the con happens, but I would be super interested in anything music related that is happening at the con. Speaking of that, could we get an update on the music stuff you've got confirmed? Panels, booths, confirmed musicians, performances, jam sessions, ponystock, etc... Scherzo 0 July 4, 2012 Share July 4, 2012 There's a lot of good ideas being bounced around for music right now. Nothing to confirm, but rest assured all the music lovers (myself included) will have plenty to see and participate in. Keep working on that music, con is still awhile off. There's lots of talented people who you could bounce some ideas off of and get feedback from
