Wind Sonnet.

There was a slight dilemma.

When in Ponyville, Symphony usually stayed with friends. This was all good and well, but in character it simply wasn't going to work: Sonnet would simply clash too much... and she had promised to 'stop with the tricks and stuff[/i] around them...

So now she had time to kill and nowhere to go.

"Delightful! We shall go shopping immediately!" The ditzy noble informed herself quietly. "Must make sure to be dressed for the occasion when we depart... and accommodation costs money as well!"

Never quite forgotten.

@@MagicalStarRain,

Eternity was quite dumbfounded by the sudden gesture. He was expecting that. "A-Are you sure? I mean... this ground does look nice and soft..." The ground was hard and cold under his hooves. He didn't wish to intrude on them, but he shouldn't let down such a kind gesture. He'd also rather sleep on the floor of a kitchen rather than the floor of the earth.  "Well... am I to turn down such hospitality. Thank you Star Rain." He said bowing his head. "And don't worry. I can sleep on the floor. You should have the beds. It is your home after all. Thank you again. ...Now lead the way... I don't exactly know where Sugarcube Corner is.

@@Nomadic,

North Shine may not have been the best socializer, but she sure knew how to read faces. "When I say 'Don't go Star Rain', I mean that I don't want you to tell everypony every single complicated detail on herbs and poultices and things like that without pause and expect them to understand you. Star has the same problem, that's why she had to practice her whole speech before this evening," she said, hovering in midair casually with her hooves behind her head while laughing a little bit at that last line.

"So, do you have a wish that you want granted if we ever find the scroll?"

@@AnonBrony,

I was kind of hoping you would choose the streets… Oh well, at least he doesn't seem to be armed or anything. …Unless he has a deadly spell or something up his sleeve. I'll just have to put a shield up then.

"Alright then. Just give me a moment, I need to let my friends know," Star Rain said, turning away as her horn glowed indigo to cast her telepathy spell.

@@Nomadic,

At that moment, North gasped, landed on the ground, and began looking off into space for some reason.

"Ugh, what is it Star Rain?" North Shine groaned. "Well girls, it looks like we'll be having one of the volunteers over for the next two nights," Star said in a surprisingly sarcastic tone. "What?!" "Really?" North and Kanon said respectively. "Didn't you say yourself that those volunteers are not to be trusted?!" North exclaimed loudly, making the unicorn and the earth pony's heads ache.

"North-chan, instead of listening to Star and being outwardly suspicious of the stranger, you should be welcoming and win them over with trust," Kanon said like she was scolding one of her younger siblings. In this case, she was scolding both of them.

"Well Kanon," Star said with a touch of annoyance. "I'll just try and serve all of us some food. That should help, right?"

"Sure, go on ahead! Just make sure he isn't allergic to anything!" Kanon said.

"Alright then, I'll meet you two at my place." And with that, the telepathic conversation ended.

North sighed heavily at being "disconnected" so to speak. "If you're wondering what that was all about," she said to Monkshood. "That was just Star using her telepathy spell to talk to us."

@@AnonBrony,

Star Rain shook her head in exhaustion after the conversation ended. She then started toward the door and looked back at Eternity. "Shall we get going?" she asked coolly.

@@MagicalStarRain,

Eternity stared at the mare as she cast her spell. 'Huh so she does know a thing or two about magic. I wonder how god she is. Maybe she's better than me.' He would think to himself.

When she came too Eternity responded to her question. "Yes, lead me to your home." As they were walking Eternity would inquire as to what they spoke about. "Soo... what did they say? They were okay with it?"

Monkshood

@@MagicalStarRain

Monkshood trotted alongside the hovering North Shine. Gladly, listening to her explanation, and eventual question. Though before he could answer or even offer a minor retort, she suddenly landed on the ground with a sudden gasp for air. Startled, he kept his distance examining her still body. From what he could see, her breathing was still regulated, yet the rest of her stared off into a void.

He waited, there was not much more he could do. He had neither the proper tools, nor knowledge of any such ailment to be of use to her. North Shine awoke from her trance shortly.  Explaining herself, that was all she seemed to do was explain herself. At least, if it occurred again it wouldn't be that much of a shock.

"The telepathy spell sounds rather inconvenient. It lets your friend Star interrupt you regardless of current situation or area, and without anyway to respond". He paused for a second. Monkshood glanced over to North Shine's face as he was suddenly overly aware of his own speech patterns around this mare. "Regardless, back to your question. Why would I take the wish? Isn't the idea of a boundless wish always the trick at the end of so many Old mare's tales? Though, I suppose I'm not sure what I would wish for in any respect. Though I'm curious now. What would be your wish"?, he told the mare, his voice once again turned torpid.

They were pretty close to Sugarcube Corner, which was right next to Star's house. North Shine, once again in her casual flying position, said like it was no big deal,"Well, she's still trying to work out that spell. She hasn't been using it very long, so yeah. And my wish? Well, I'm not sure. It sure would be a pretty good find though, don't you think? If what Star and Kanon said is true, you can wish for anything!" She had a very wide smile at that idea, before they came to the front of Star's house.

"Well, we're here. Thanks for the help, uhhh, who are you?" she asked him while grabbing the box of medicine at lightning speed.

@@AnonBrony,

"Kanon's alright with it, but be careful around North," Star Rain said bluntly without looking back.

*five to seven minutes later*

They were near Star's house before she finally broke the silence. "I'm curious, can you fight? Without magic?" She didn't wait very long for an answer though, as she whispered,"What is she doing with him?" when she saw North communicating with the stallion who looked like an herbalist to her.

"Hm? Fight? Oh ummm not really. I was never really trained to fight without magic. Sorry. I only know some combat spells but that's about it.  I never really thought they would come in handy but I suppose they are going to after all..." The very thought of Eternity having to combat somepony sent shivers done his spine. He wasn't the kind to want to hurt somepony, let alone kill one. He didn't like the idea of it. He now hoped they didn't have to hurt anypony on their expedition. "Soo ummm is this you home?" Monkshood

@@MagicalStarRain

Monkshood's face contorted at the question. He was not one to bandy his name around so frivolously as he had caused more than a few 'embarrassments', due to his eccentricities, at many of the areas he had visited. Granted, if he was to be working with these ponies for any period of time he would eventually have to tell them. Inhaling, he felt the cold air fill his lungs before finally speaking up. "My name is Monkshood, and there is no need for thanks. I really should get use to helping others if we're to travel together".

He looked around the sky seemed blackened beyond recognition tonight through his eyes. It was getting late, and he wouldn't have any time to gather even the most minute of supplies if we was to continue conversing. "I'm sorry, but if that is all I really should attend to my work for tonight before it gets any later. Hopefully, I will be able to finish the majority of it before the morning". He slowly backed away from North Shine, yet watched her for any final words before he departed for the night.

Kinetic sat at a table in his lodging, tinkering with a device of unknown purpose. “We don’t even know each other and we’re already at each other’s throats… Well, I suppose it won’t be boring at any rate. So, how are they going to handle this eclectic group?” The device gave a slight ‘click’ and started ticking. “Oh…that’s not good!”

Kinetic hurried to try and diffuse the device, which then blew a cloud of smoke in his face. He fell backwards, coughing. “*cough cough* Not enough caution… *cough*”

@@AnonBrony,

Star Rain had to resist the urge to face hoof herself at Eternity's guess. "No, that house next to the sweet shop is my house," she said with a "Seriously…?" tone. She got there just in time to see North Shine wave to the herb stallion and knock on the door. She simply ignored him and moved Eternity along to her place.

"Hey North Shine," Star said casually with a small wave. Her sudden entrance(it was sudden to North) made the pegasus nomad jump and it made Star laugh(which is very surprising considering how she had been acting this evening). "Holy Celestia, will you please stop doing that?!"

"Stop doing what? Saying 'hi'?"

"No, just sneaking up on me, in the middle of the night no less!"

"They don't call me invisible for nothing you know."

North was about say more, then she noticed the stallion that she had arrived with. "So is this the guy you told us about?" she asked with a bit of suspicion. "Yes, he is. Do as Kanon said and treat him with hospitality, alright?" Star instructed, her voice turning deadpan once again.

Kanon opened the door to Star's house and bowed to all of them while saying,"Konnichiwa!" She let Eternity go in first, then North and Star came in. The mostly blue living room was a bit messy, but it wasn't too much. There were many shelves of books and scrolls about magic, myths, lore, combat, and many other subjects, as well as fiction stories. There were also a few framed photos of Star and her friends as high school students and one with her much younger self and a green stallion. Unlike real one, the Stars in the photos still looked calm but she also looked happy.

The Neighponese mare gave Eternity a warm welcome and lead him into the kitchen after he took his stuff off his back. Star took her cloak and her stuff off her back and followed them in along with North. Th unicorn and the pegasus sat down with the stallion at the big table in the kitchen while the charming earth pony began to cook something in a foreign-looking pot. While that was going on, North Shine peppered Eternity with questions while Star sat quietly with her sketchpad and silently drew and observed(while also smiling at a few compliments she received). She would occasionally be asked a question, but she would always try to answer with short answers.

The cooking was eventually finished and the group was served rice with thin noodle soup and green tea. It was quite delicious, so much that North was rather ravenous and forgot her table manners. Kanon, having had a very proper upbringing and thus very good table manners, flinched at this. Star and Eternity ate properly, but the former forgot to put a napkin on her lap. Luckily, it wasn't noticed as she kept silent throughout the dinner-long conversation. During the conversation, Eternity asked the three mares more about the mission and the lore behind the scroll. Kanon showed him some translated passages regarding the history of the scroll(its wish-granting spell was written on it by a sage who was known as Humilitas during an ancient war). North Shine showed him the layout of the city with a map covered with her own marks that each had a meaning, like a red star that marked the location of their home base in the city. Finally, Star showed him her guess on what the sages, the spirits, and the scroll looked like, along with clarifying more info regarding the lore.

Eventually, it was time to clean up, get ready, and go to bed. After the former two was finished, Star made a bed on the floor of the living room with a thick blanket as the mattress, a pillow, and a another, softer blanket. North Shine yelled,"DIBS ON THE BED" while Kanon sighed and made a place to sleep on the sofa. Seeing their guest didn't have a place to sleep, Star got him more blankets and another pillow to make a bed with. After trying to deny her kindness, Eternity simply made his own bed between the sofa(Kanon was already asleep) and Star's "bed" and, after bidding them all good night, went to sleep. North and Star eventually fell asleep.

Monkshood

@@Tricksters Pride

The morning sun shone through the window of inn. The room's curtains did nothing to prevent the bright morning sun from penetrating every crevice of the rather cramped room. Monkshood's eyes slowly opened, the sudden burst light stung his eyes slightly, yet they soon adjusted to it. Yawning, he had stayed out later than expected last night trying to look for various plants, yet was still missing some Datura Stramonium. Though, he was fortunate to of found a rather sizable field full of Wild Chamomile growing last night, and hoped he might possibly sell some of the flower to the mare from earlier.

He rolled out of the bed with a loud 'THUD' as his body hit the wooden floor. Standing up, he felt sightly dazed, but soon regained his senses. Approaching his bags and he rustled through them, rearranging everything for the supplies he had been promised earlier. There everything was ready. Strapping on his bag, he got prepared for the day ahead.

Monkshood left the inn without any fuss and begun to head towards the market in town. He had already paid for a few more days at the inn than he had expected when he'd arrived in Ponyville as he wasn't initially sure if he was to take the job or not. Though gladly, everything was seemingly worked out for him overall so far.

The market was already in full motion, despite the relative freshness morning. Any other day, this would of been a pleasant to Monkshood as he would of likely attracted a multitude of customers looking for some quick cures for common ailments, but today his business would likely be put on hold. Such a shame, his funds would quickly dwindle to nothingness if any unexpected expenses were to arise during his stay. His eyes gleaned over the diverse crowd of ponies looking for the blue-maned mare from last night. Hopefully, he wouldn't be waiting for her too terribly long.

Ice

@@Nomadic

Ice, having woken up a bit earlier than usual in order to prepare breakfast and set it up so that it wouldn't be cold by the time Noble wakes up, was sitting near the entrance to the marketplace and waiting for the apothecary from yesterday. Shed gotten a large amount of funds so that she could buy quality supplies... Pointless to buy second best when you depend on your gear to keep you alive. Ironically the apothecary had stopped right next to her without noticing her, so when she spoke up she sounded faintly amused. "I know that i'm pretty plain but you may want to be a little more observant in the future Mr....." (Mr is spoken more like a question than a name.)

Kinetic Energy

Kinetic rose from his bed, looking more messy and dishevelled as he usually did. His tools were scattered haphazardly on the table, along with the pieces of his device after he’d taken it apart last night. “Well, it worked. Sort of… Best to clean up and get some target practice. I hope everypony is in a better mood today. I’m really not up for more of last night’s dramatics…”

After picking up the pieces of his gadget and his tools, Kinetic walked to the shower and turned it on. The hot water was exactly what he needed to wake up.

Noble Persona

His mood had barely changed. Still irritated, still bored. Except Ice wasn’t around at the moment. But she’d left her mark on the room. Where Noble had left things in chaos, she’d tidied it up. His gear was ready at the foot of his bed, and breakfast was waiting for him. He smiled and caught himself thinking of Ice. “What would I do without that mare? Maybe I should do something nice for her. As a way of showing that her service is appreciated. But what would she like?” He decided that he’d go looking for a gift for Ice after breakfast and a shower.

Kanon woke up and climbed out of bed, careful not to step on Eternity. She stepped into the bathroom to tidy herself up from her slumber. She used her own ornate comb to fix her mane and tail, she applied her pink eye make-up, and she cleansed her face. Feeling refreshed and satisfied with her appearance, she began to prepare breakfast for all of them, which consisted of cereal from the pantry. She didn't bring the milk out because no pony she knew of enjoyed warm milk. Except babies of course.

North Shine woke up second, not bothering to fix up Star's midnight blue bed. Her hair was a mess and Kanon could see that she didn't put her green pins in her mane to hold her long bangs back. "Mornin' Kanon," North Shine said in an enthusiastic, but hushed voice. "Konnichiwa, North-chan," the dark red mare said quietly. "Will you wake Star-chan up for me, please? And be careful not to wake up our guest," she said, pointing to the two unicorns who were still asleep on the floor.  "Sure thing," the blue pegasus said.

Silently, she went over to the sleeping unicorn mare and nudged her awake. "Star, wake up," she whispered in her ear. Star jumped slightly from it and tiredly got up. "Morning," she said, looking slightly upset. She went over to the kitchen, only to accidentally walk horn-first into a wall. Typical was the only thought going through her friends' minds right now.

Monkshood's body jerked with a sudden sense of bewilderment as he quickly shifted his towards the head the voice next to him. "I apologize miss. I had partially expected to see you wandering through the marketplace. ". He began to hesitate, glancing around the market in front of him. The ponies scurried along every which way. Finally, he looked back to the mare. His eyes gleaned over her features, he hadn't really paid much heed to such details last night as they were alone for the most part, but now that she had brought mention of her own relatively plain features, it was clear that she was one that could easily be lost amongst almost any faceless crowd.

"Oh yes, I'm not a pony who often likes to throw ones name around, but I'm known as Monkshood. It would be an awkward and confusing journey if we were to only refer to each other as simply Miss and Mister. What should I refer to you as miss?", he sighed as he always seemed to feel rather rusty with giving introductions.

Eternity had been awake earlier, but he was reading a book under his blanket. It was a book about magical artifacts and he was trying to see if he can find the scroll somewhere in the book. He stayed silent for the most part. Once he began to hear ponies wake up and get out of their beds he got up too. His mane was somewhat messy but he didn't mind. They seemed to have all congregated in the kitchen so he did the same, carrying the book he was reading with him. "Good morning everyone." He said to them. He then sat down at the table and continued to read his book without saying another word.

He flew out of the window from his in into town seeing if he can find anything interesting to do and to also find Star Rain or the other Hosts for they still had his crossbow. As he flew over the market place he noticed the two same ponies from last night conversing again. He decided to fly down and say hello again.

"Hola! Buenos días mis compadres. ¿Cómo están? ¿Qué tal? How are things with you two eh? You two doing business again?" At that moment Dorado thought of an idea. "Oh Señor?" "Greetings again, I onl....", Monkshood paused and looked began looking around in a curious manner. A voice penetrated his thoughts, it was the voice of the mare. Such a curious sensation. He turned back to face Ice, yet her mouth showed no indication of movement. Intriguing, this appeared to be similar to the telepathy spell that North Shine had mentioned last night. Ice's monologue wound down as Monkshood gave a small nod to agree with her.

Ice began to speak aloud, and Monkshood stood still listening. As she finished this speech, he interjected. "I would tend to agree with my friend here. Such things would be best discussed privately".

If and when we come across them, you are to answer any questions they may have regarding our mission, the missing cityfolk, and the Wishing Scroll." She paused to take a bite out of her breakfast.  "These volunteers may be strangers and… less than pleasant," she paused there, remembering how it appeared she was going to be shot by Dorado. "But I would still like you all to treat them with courtesy. Do all of you understand?"

North Shine said,"Yeah, sure thing," while Star said,"Mmhm."

"It's not like I expected you to make anything lethal. I doubt you could even obtain the ingredients to do so. I was thinking more along the lines of a pralysis just in case we encounter any montruos in our travels. Many different creatures out there. But don't worry Dorado should be able to handle them. And quicker if I can have you assistance." Dorado paused for a moment. "I'm still curious.. why you both have not said your names. Normally if a pony asks your name you tell them it right away. No not you two. I've asked you both twice already. We are partners now are we not? We are going to work together to find this scroll. It would be better if I can address you by your own names. Noble finished his shower and breakfast in higher spirits, given what he was planning. He dressed in his usual attire of a black shirt with puffy sleeves and his flashy black coat, slipping a pair of small daggers up his sleeves in case of trouble. Satisfied that he was ready, he made his way out the door and headed for the marketplace.

Wind Sonnet.

The market was an absolute playground for Sonnet. While the various stalls sold every kind of useless trinket under the sun at prices usually far outweighing their actual value... that didn't bother her terribly. It was a disappointment that there wasn't really anything that stood out amongst the stands as worth owning but then again, it was the game that she was there for.

She had money - she hadn't actually brought any, but she was far from poor - though she wouldn't need it. She didn't really care what she discovered - only that whatever is was, it was supposedly difficult to take. There was, she supposed, some kind of practice involved. That was why she played the game after all, wasn't it? She couldn't really do anything else so there was no sense forgetting about what few skills she did posess... but it was the thrill and the entertainment that kept her playing long after she needed to.

@@Windbreaker,

"Excuse me de..." Sonnet began, before pausing. "Oh! You're the gentlecolt from last night, yes? Of course you are!"

No good then - it wasn't productive making enemies that she might be stuck with for any length of time. There was still plenty of time and plenty of other ponies about to play the game though. She curtsied slightly, smiling with a warm, yet slightly vacent expression.

"Wind Sonnet - apologies, I don't think I recall your name... It's completly my fault, I have such a terrible memory on occasion, don't you know."

"Oh no, this isn't a staff," Star said with a small laugh.  She pulled at the metallic end of the staff to reveal that the staff isn't a staff, but actually a sword.  "We may be mages you and I, but we still need means of defending ourselves the mundane way, don't you agree?" she said, trying to reason with him.  I may not completely trust him or the others, but I don't want any of them to die.  I'd hate myself for the rest of my life if that were to happen.

I also can't let them know that I may be a mage, but my magic isn't all that good.
