Do you believe intelligence is a gift? Or is it something you can work for?

I don't believe in grey. It's black or white in this world. black and white are telling grey to make up his mind, because they're tired of him.

Seeing the world as black in white is the same communistic, intolerant society I do not want to live in.

I am talking about an archetype. In communist russia there was no black or white it was only black. You weren't allowed to have another view. You are free to your mind of course, everyone is.

Is it wrong for a starving man to steal food from a fat man?

Well is it literal or figurative? Because if literal, then no. If figurative yes. because we have people stealing from us 24/7. Tax exempt people living the life, while we starve and have to work much more harder like a slave. Then yes I agree in that sense, it's 100% wrong

The black and white thing was actualy a methaphor for the balance thing, I think.

For your exemple: While the black think it's wrong to steal that food, the white think it's acceptable.

If it's only black, this guy will continue starving

If it's white, everyone will steal because they need that food, while it belong to Fatman.

With a balance of these two, Fatman can actually give a bit of his food to help, it is fair. That balance is important. ^_^

Edit: It's now about moral questions lol, quite far from intelligence.

Well yes I agree. The SS Nazi scientist were better than ours. So project paper clip we basically killed the people higher up in the food chain, then dropped the charges on the scientist and made them work for us. Those scientist killed millions with their intelligence.

In which would be a wrongful use of intelligence. ;) What those scientists did was not beneficial to mankind and they were essentially slaves to the powers that held them. It was that exact kind of tyranny that led Albert Einstein to flee from Germany in order to practice true science: the search and spreading of knowledge.

Well I agree. Those men could have done good. Einstein was not stupid, far from it obviously. But I honestly find him to be the center piece for scientific propaganda. First off, Kaku and Hawking are actually denying Einstein's theory. Also a man who never got credit for pretty much doing most of the Manhattan project.

Klaus Fuchs had those ideas before Einstein did

Nikola Tesla even destroyed Einstein's theory when he was on his death bed. There are better scientist out there who never got the credit they deserve. Especially Tesla! 90% of all technology would not be around if not for him.

People knew Tesla wanted to give the people free energy and made Edison jealous. So JP Morgan shut him down. Tesla's patents were also stolen and not all of them were restored to him long after his death.

All of the things you listed in the OP are useful in the right hands and context. There is no "versus". Intelligence must be nurtured to thrive but inherent capacity for intelligence can also be up to nature, I.E. If someone's born with a severely-damaged brain, they may well have a natural limit dropped onto their intelligence that others do not have.

The point im trying to convey is theres always two sets of black and white

For example: Legally, it is a crime to steal the food. Steal = Black(wrong), Don't Steal = White(Right)

On the other hand: You might die if you don't steal the food. Steal = White(Right), Don't Steal = Black(Wrong)

Which is why I truly believe in the gray area. Its not that we cant make up our minds, is that we will look at it in different ways (From person to person)

Living a black and white existence can be dangerous.

According to severel tests years ago when I still was a child my IQ is above 130 which is considered intelligent. This likely results from the disorder Asperger's syndrome I was diagnosed with at age 7 when I went into a psychatric hospital half a year shortly after. In many cases it provides unnatural high intellence, but primarly it brings along odd behavior, acting really weird, altered perception, obsessive interests, loss of reality and irrational believes (all of which I have).

Alex, Alex! You're walking away from history! History! Did Chris Columbus say he wanted to stay home? No! What if the Wright Brothers thought that only birds should fly? And did Galoka think that the Yulus were too ugly to save? -- Centauri to Alex Rogan; "The Last Starfighter" (1984)

I can relate to you. I don't know how you are compared to me in terms of Asperger's. As a kid I never had an IQ test done, and I don't have an intention of getting one done. As a young kid teachers considered me slow, like mentally retarded slow. As I got older, I started to just get more interested in learning. As a kid I rocked back and forth from reactions to music and or images. I have a really bizarre imagination and a view of the world around me.

That hasn't changed. I still consider myself mentally an 8 year old. I just think a bit more differently. But my behavior hasn't changed one bit. I can't help my relationship to icons such as Sonic the Hedgehog, Pokemon and essentially something fictional. I get like a drug kick off wondering off into my own world. I have gotten better at focusing though on studying. It was worse as a kid.

One thing I don't like is how arrogant some intelligent people can be. Intelligence and wisdom can be corrupted. Let's say we have the following

A chemist in comparison to a computer engineer. Both are highly mastered in their area of study. Now hypothetically let's say the chemist goes

" Oh you're a nerd who deals with plastic and steam games. I can't waste my time talking to a pseudo-scientist."

Now of course this guy would just be an arrogant and ignorant prick who esteems himself over others. Just because his particular subject is more important(and it actually is) but he's insulting someone who's mastered in a craft, and not the craft he lives by.

I believe understanding many different materials easily is a gift. This aids in intelligence, however I also someone can earn it too by opening themselves to numerous topics and taking their time to understand the material. That is what is great about intelligence, it can be a gift, or it can be earned, it still requires work to achieve this.

Personally, I believe Intelligence is something you earn through time and effort. While some people may be born with a stronger tendency towards learning then others, I still believe in general that anyone who tries their hardest , can earn that same kind of intelligence.

To a point intelligence can be gained through hard work. To a point. However, some people are just naturally smarter, and other people are just naturally talented at other things. Its just a genetic fact, and nothing to be ashamed about.

Everybody is intelligent. It may seem strange, but Everything: math, science, languages, etc. have came from a human's mind. We all have the capacity to be intelligent, but lacking understanding is the only thing that gets in the way. I hate when teachers brush me off at my school when I ask for help. For some people, understanding something may be less or more difficult than it is for others. Even einstein, known as one of the most intelligent people ever, said "everybody is a genius". When somebody is completely puzzled it doesn't mean they are idiotic. It just means they think in a different way.

To some it up: yeah. I believe intelligence comes from hard work.

I am mad because in school you don't learn anything. Your being thrown facts. You never learn the following for all courses especially History and Science.

What is this really?

Why did this happen? Cause and Effect!

What about the cultural conflicts?

How was society influenced? The positives and negatives?

What's missing from what I'm reading?

What's the context?

How does this effect me today?(CRUCIAL !!!)

Critical Thinking?
