Almost a brony...

NOTE: I am now a brony, so little to none of this applies to this today.  Please don't respond.

PLEASE NOTE: I am NOT a brony (yet). I just want to ask a few questions about it.

1) Is the fandom on the decline? When do you expect the show and/or fandom to end?

2) How can I prevent getting too addicted to it? I do not want this to get in the way of school work (especially school work), friends, family, or other stuff.

3) Are there positives of becoming a brony?

4) I am an introvert (INTJ, to be exact). The show seems to be pro-extravert, so would I become an extravert if I became a brony?

You're worried about how being a Brony will affect your life? I was exactly the same way when I first started, all I can say is that it was worth taking those first few steps for myself, I have absolutely no regrets in becoming a Brony.

As repsol rave has already said becoming a Brony will welcome you even further into this community and let me tell you now; this is the single nicest place I have ever visited in my entire life and I fell in love with it and the people here almost immediately, you will have no trouble making friends here and are bound to enjoy yourself in one way or another if you choose to stay.

If work is something that you are concerned about then don't worry; your commitment to it will more than likely keep any habits you may develop in the process of becoming a Brony fairly moderated, also I can say in full confidence that joining this community will have a tremendous effect in how much of an outgoing person you can be, there's a strangely liberating feeling that comes with knowing that you have a place here and you'll feel all the better for it too.

Well the decision is yours and yours alone, I personally could not recommend making the jump enough but I respect the fact that this is your decision and I wont pressure you into making it. There's no rush either, this place won't disappear overnight (well hopefully not :P) and we aren't going anywhere. If you do decide to join then know that we'll be standing here waiting to welcome you with open arms cause that's the kind of people we like to think of ourselves as, I wish you all the best irrespective of your choice and hope that you will return to us someday :D

I have historically been anti-brony (along with my friends), but I watched the first episode in late November out of curiosity and liked it.  Thus, for the past two months, I have been debating whether to convert, watching several episodes in the process (Lesson Zero was my favorite, and Boast Busters was my least favorite).  If it weren't for the concerns I have outlined before, I would have become a brony a month or so ago.  I thank everyone ("everypony" as is said around here) for their input and should be making a decision within the next few weeks.

I totally agree - I had no regrets becoming a Brony/Pegasister. When I was little the community wasn't necessarily the best, and people were just finding out different ways to upset and insult each other. I wouldn't say I had the best of childhoods.

But the My Little Pony community taught me many things, and the little messages and morals made me smile and were absolutely right.

Being a Brony/Pegasister wasn't much, I just liked the show, watched it etc, and participated with it. Doing a bit of fan work here and there.

Don't be afraid of being a Brony, because you'll never know how good things are or bad they will be unless you try it out and figure out for yourself.

- CONTINUING -

I think this community is definitely the one for you. I don't think it matters whether you are introvert or extrovert, as much as you have an opinion and things to share.

I would like you welcome you, Mr Fabulous abct8, to the MLP Forum Communiteeee! <ll(^-^llll<)= <- Tried drawing Fluttershy.  :P

  • 2 weeks later...

I thank everyone ("everypony") here for their input.  It has been and will continue to be a valuable resource for future decisions pertaining bronies.

With that said, I think that I will not become a brony after all.  As I think I have stated before, I find the fandom quite interesting.  The problem though is that it would be a waste of my time.  As I have said before, I am quite a busy person, and thus may result in problems with my schedule/schoolwork/activities.  Although someone said that commitments would moderate brony activity, I feel that this may not be the case, as I only have an hour or two to devote to things such as this.  I mean, watching almost a hundred 20-minute episodes (some of which aren't even on Youtube) seems like a daunting, time-consuming task.  Plus, whenever I have gotten close to becoming a brony, I would have it on my mind nearly constantly, distracting me and making it hard to sleep.

I have also looked at another forum topic pertaining positive impacts of bronyism (is that a word?).  It seems like most of them were previously depressed, nonsocial people like myself.  Then, they would become instantly outgoing and accepting.  Although this may sound cold, I do not want that to happen to me since I have a strong work ethic (extraverts seem to have bad work ethics and typically rely on others).  I also hate society as a whole and I hope that I don't become supportive of its laziness, narcissism, materialism, social norms, etc.

Nonetheless, I may end up converting if I end up with enough time to do so.  I know I have a lot of free time in a couple of weeks.  I guess if anyone has anything to say, I would encourage that you respond.  However, I may not be on here again, although then again I could become a brony.

PS: I know I'm forgetting something.  I have been thinking this through for a couple of days, but I am just missing something, and I don't have the time to try to think of it.
